Vita 3000 trademarked?

You guys and your "I'll buy it with SD card support" bullshit.

Everyone and their dogs also said "give PSP a second analogue stick, a better screen and get rid of the UMD and I'll buy it" and look how that turned out.

Was daydreaming the other day about a New 3DS-style update. Beefier internals. 1080p screen, with updates to some popular prior games to support it (including some games that couldn't even hit native res before). Micro SD support. L2 and R2 N3DS-style (and L3+R3 on the sticks if possible). PS4's built in chip for recording or broadcasting, or maybe just some kind of Chromecast-like functionality. Update PSTV to match, since a set-top box that can't run at 1080p is kind of weak. Basically, just make a go of the Vita's Rebirth.

I really hope they do more than just stick an HDMI port on it, although I admit that in itself is not undesired.

Do you really think Sony, with how Vita is selling, will decide to support 3rd party SD cards? Now? If they thought that memory was an issue they would just do a price drop on the memory cards.

In fairness, manufacturing proprietary cards is probably reasonably expensive to the point they'd could never offer them at close to SD card prices (or prices people would consider reasonable).

Memory prices have been a consistent complaint since the console was released, so if they genuinely wanted to give it one last go moving to a standardised memory card would make a lot of sense. There shouldn't really be any security concerns at all, they can just enforce full card encryption as they do with PS3/PS4 hard drives there is effectively no difference here.

Look how what turned out? PSP sold around 80 million, Vita will be lucky to sell 1/4 of that

Its just a trademark. Every year sony, nintendo trademark and patent the shit outta everything hoping aomehing sticks. If this was the PS vita 3000 with two shoulder buttons and micro SD aupport. Would buy immediately and have a 128 GB micro for gaming.

First of all, the Vita isn't even old. Announcing a new handheld would be stupid, stupid, stupid as hell. There isn't even one reason why Sony should make another gaming handheld. Absolutely no reason.
Second: The handheld market is dead. Maybe Nintendo can still make some money in it. For Sony, it's just wasting resources/time/money which could be used for PS4 stuff.

I could care less about Sony's pockets they're currently banking on the PS4 with almost no games lol. I'm a consumer and I could give two fucks if Sony loses money on the Vita, though the Vita is profitable if that even matters.

Sony backing out of the handheld market would suck, just leaving Nintendo in the handheld market wouldn't be cool at all, I don't like the idea of market space monopolies.

Would buy 5, if it had these features:
-OLED screen (not gonna happen)
-microSD support (not gonna happen)
-proper L2/R2 (not gonna happen)

:-/

Nintendo might as well have a monopoly if the Vita is all you're considering as competition. They'll have their hands full competing with mobile, don't worry.

Fuck's sake can we stop with this idiotic joke/meme already?
There's even a thread that lists 50+ games releasing this year alone on the Vita.
...and don't give me the indie excuse; those same indies would release on 3DS and NO ONE on GAF would complain about it.

Yeah, because the 3ds gets more than fucking idie games

Dual Boot - Android OS
SD Card
HDMI Out

That the only way I would buy another Vita. As this will likely never happen looks like I will just stick with 1000

They're losing market share to the mobile industry. What happens then? Nintendo is on the decline, with both their home console and handheld. Have fun with your mobile games buddy.

Nice, will be interesting to see how they'll try to improve on the PS Vita 2000 which is already the perfect handheld for me. ^.^

I'm out of this thread for now, because I know this always turns into silly handheld wars, silly melodramacy about the PS Vita and sheer closed-mindedness from some people.

I'll bite if it has triggers and sell my 1000 to my brother. HDMI's not a dealbreaker, got the VGA cord for PSP 3000 and never used it.

You mentioned absolutely nothing that means anything to anyone other han Sony's wallets. I don't give a shit how much money they can make out of another handheld. i only care that they make fucking amazing handhelds, and announcing that they're giving another one a go would be fantastic for gamers and myself.

But it IS about money and Sony's "pockets". Therefore, you won't see another handheld from Sony. That's for sure!
And about that "PS4 with almost no games".... lol... that garbage meme won't die, as it seems.

I'm tired of overdefensive fans reducing legitimate criticism like

"The PS4 had no great exclusives before Bloodborne came out"

and

"The Vita lacks mid-budget retail exclusives with any form of mainstream appeal"

to LOL NO GAMES strawmen arguments that are easy to refute by posting links to Wikipedia or that unholy "over 9000 Vita games" thread.

I think standard micro sd, plus hdmi could bring quite a few people to purchase one.

I really doubt it. The crowd who support and love the Vita are happy with what it is, and those added costs won't convert the masses. Sony are happy with targeting the existing demographic. Small as it is, it's certainly profitable(see: all the niche software releases).

I sold my Vita a few months ago when I needed some cash. Now that I'm in a better economic situation (or, hopefully, I'll be in a few weeks), I might consider rebuying a Vita only if it comes with microSD support. I'm not paying ~€75 for a propietary card of decent size again.

I can't imagine they would release a new Vita model without R2/L2 buttons for remote play, that's the revision it needs to most. Personally I'll always stick with the 1000 for dat OLED.

Oh damn... a revision with L2/R2 and L3/R3 would have me in line to buy day 1. I love Vita for remote play!

please be oled and take 3rd party mem cards, and i'll switch from my 1000

This. I'll never let go of the OLED. But they can let go of backtouch and I'll buy it.

That "OVER 9000!" thread is pretty outdated last I checked it. It still had Disgaea 4 as "coming soon" despite it having been released for like 6 months or so.

You seem very certain.

I wouldn't be. Sony are not known to bail out of sectors they've performed well in because of a bad product line. Perhaps it would be better for them if they did, but I'm fairly confident we will see another.

I own a Vita 2000 and I'm not bothered by its LCD screen after having played 4 or 5 games on an OLED Vita a friend of mine has, around 150 hours of OLED gaming.

Now, if they add Micro SD compatibility and my country has a cool renove plan like the one they did for the N3DS, I will jump to 3000 with no doubt, I'm stuck with my 8GB memory card and I have to be downloading games in groups of 2 to 3.

So, if this is legit, let's hope they bring bigger changes than round shapes and cooler buttons.

I have a 2000 and don't miss the OLED at all. Battery seems to go on forever. Standard memory and HDMI out, though... that'd be tempting!

I was about to trade in my Vita 1000 for the Vita 2000. (Side question: How can I get notified if someone replies to my post?)

I don't think the reason Sony would quite handheld market is due to Vita's poor performance, but more of the fact that handheld is a shrinking market. Nintendo can keep pumping out its handheld because they have a huge catalog of long lasting franchises to support it. Sony just don't have that kind of luxury. Sooner or later mobile phone will completely take over handheld market and I think it's better for Sony to get out of the race and focus on their console and VR.

People truly believe this is real??

You can't but you can search who quoted you this way, it's not perfect but...

I think sony for sure will make another handheld. Like the ps3 to ps4 They will be a little more open minded with what's going on around them rather then releasing what they think we want.

Gaming is their bread and butter these days and I'd imagine they want to anchor that brand name down to as many homes as possible

What's the point you're trying to make, exactly? More importantly, how would another non-competitor help things?

Remember you're the one that claimed Nintendo would have a monopoly.

i have a 230~ giftcard to ebgames that needs to be used up before they take off 2$ every month... and hopefully this comes out before that.

or unless i can use the giftcards to buy pre-paid crediticards?

Yes!!!!!!!! Willl buy day 1. It really could use triggers, and now that we can map our controls in the software, this could work well with older titles as well.

To those trolling that Vita is dead and has no games... Odd, since Ill be buying another two new releases this week that I really look forward to. Unless you expect a new Uncharted level exclusive, there is plenty of content on the device.

That's sort of his point. The features people insist they 'need' before they'll buy often don't transfer into sales.

I honestly don't think it's as big of a deal as most people make it out to be: let's take the most common complaint: the memory cards. So yes, you can get a widely manufactured and competitively priced 64g micro SD card for around $30, sometimes a bit cheaper, so let's call it $25.

The niche 64g card for a niche Vita, with no benefits from economies of scale, can be got fairly easily for around $85 new with a tiny touch of patience. That makes it about $60 more expensive -- assuming you absolutely positively need 64g, which most people don't. [I do, certainly, but I could use a 256g card.] But most people can easily get by on the card included with their system for long enough to decide if they want to invest further in a card.

That extra $60 changes the cost of entry to have a new Vita with a maxed out mem card from, what, about $210ish (if it used msd) to $270 (with proprietary 64g) or so to have the best mem card? (Though again, most people can just get by with a new system + included card). What's it cost to get a New 3dsxl with a 64g mem card? (seriously, I'm asking.) Looking at Amazon, you'd be in that same range, about $230 or so? Is it really that hard to justify an extra $30 or $40 given the advanced tech of the vita?

People act like that extra $60 (for 64g) due to a proprietary card is $600. And again, you don't even need to buy a 64g card! How many people have well over $60 worth of games they want to play from ps+? What is having a really nice portable Ps1 (and psp) player worth? Remote play? I'm not saying these excuse the extra price, but they certainly help justify a purchase somewhat -- i know the ps+ games I got at the launch of vita's IGC (uncharted, wipeout, fftactics, etc) pushed me over the edge to buy a Vita.

At this point, many already in the sony ecosystem might have dozens of games for their Vita already. So I find it really hard to swallow that it's the extra $60 they might have to spend on a memory card that's keeping them from buying a Vita. I just don't see it. Certainly not on a widespread scale. I'm not saying I enjoyed paying $85 for my memory card. Obviously i wish it was $1. i just don't that I truly believe that it's the 'deal breaker' causing people not to buy Vitas.

I bought my Vita at launch and I think one of the biggest reasons it gets the whole 'no games' thing is lack of big games.

It's fine that it gets a slew of indie and smaller budget games but initially they spoke about things like Bioshock etc and they never materialised. It's those games that attracted people to the system. Not everybody cares about niche Japanese games or average ports of DS games, and for those that do that's perfectly fine.

I love my Vita but it's increasingly a PS+ game machine and cross buy games and that's a real shame. It could be so much more, imagine a native GTA or InFamous game running in full glory or even a decent FIFA or Call of Duty. Those are the types of games that help sell systems. I can't help but think many of us were sold a dream to be honest.

At this point I'd happily accept an update that allowed for Dualshock 4 support so I could at least use it as a proper remote play console. Perhaps marketing it as a PS4 accessory and dropping the price would help too. Like I say, I'm not knocking the Vita nor am I saying it has no games - only that for many people it doesn't have the games they were led to believe were coming.
