Vita + Destiny is blowing my mind

Did you tried to check how many active WiFi connections [2.4ghz N for direct connection, G or N if you are using router] are in your surrounding [inSSIDer for Android]? Remote Play can crap out if there is too much congestion.

You cannot force PS4 to work on specific channel, but you can do so with Vita [in WiFi options menus] and with router. Changing active channel has helped several people to get rock-solid connection in their apartments where they can catch a lot of WiFi networks of their neighbors.

This one looks like it has "USB pass through" built-in.

edit - nope, it's just locking switch

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. I'm literally in a cabin in the woods and the closest house is at least half mile away.

Does anyone know the minimum internet speed to play over internet? My home connection is 30 down 3 up and I'm not sure if that will be fast enough (due to the crappy upload)

So, like, I know everyone has been saying remote play is awesome and it works and everything.... but I didn't believe it. That looks.. .well.. responsive? How often do you get in situations where button lag makes someone unplayable? I noticed someone in here saying something about graffiti in Infamous (which I have never played).

This is seriously impressive for something that sounds kind of impossible.

Try a direct connection but put the vita adhoc channel to be as far away as possible from your WiFi channel.

So for example try setting your WiFi channel to 1 and vita adhoc to 11.

I can only think it's interference from your own router.

Do you have anything else in your house that could be using WiFi.

Just download a free WiFi analyser app to double check. Interference is almost always the cause for poor remote play. It ran like shit till I sorted this out now it runs great.

Tried Destiny at school. Works really well, slight input lag but doable. Had my PS4 on standby at home, just goes on automatically if you start remote play on vita after it scans the internet for your ps4. Can put it back into standby when your done.

At first i had problems bringing up my ghost and special abilities until i realized you had to use the front screen instead of the back touch pad. Sadly I cant aim for shit with the vita joystick, they are so damn tiny.

I'll post some more videos but that's why my OP says mind blowing. It works better than I ever imagined

So my Vita is arriving in the mail tomorrow but I forgot to buy a screen protector, do the Vita screens scratch easily/do you guys recommend I pick one up?

You really do need yr ps4 connected via ethernet to have a good remote play experience I find.

With my ps4 connecte to my router via wifi...when I remote play to vita..its just inconsistent.

When I have my ps4 cabled to jy router....vita remote play is rock solid. I mean rock solid.

Could be my shit router I guess....could be I live in the cbd with most wifi channels populated heavily...

Brought my Vita to the office today just to see if this works. PS4 is at home, on standby, with the Destiny disc in the drive.

I'll try this at lunch.

I recommend it.

Do the Sony ones work? Those were designed for the original model and am not sure if it fits the Slim.

I also heard there are some that cover the entire front face of the Vita, which sounds like a good idea, but am not sure where I can find those (the one this guy is talking about).

Edit: I went ahead and ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J00BLRM/?tag=neogaf0e-20

The way you apply this bad boy looks super awesome and easy (just watched a video on it...looks not nearly as tedious as usual screen protectors)

I just finished a short round of Destiny, from my office.

Remote play found my PS4 over the internet, booted it up and put me right into the dashboard. It was perfectly playable once I turned the aiming sensitivity down from 8 to 3. It's the most next-gen experience I've had on a console. :)

Does anyone know if I can use PS4 party chat over remote play? It sounds like wayyyy to much to ask.

Anyone remember when there were rumors of Destiny releasing on vita? Well, I'm kinda wishing they were real now.

I got some from a company that makes iphone screen protectors back at launch. Skinomi or something like that.

How do I get voicechat in remote play? I used to use while playing FFXIV and for some reason I can't use it in that game anymore or this one.

For the record, I haven't been able to get voicechat to work in FFXIV in some time. I feel like Sony took the functionality out.

Remote Play is a neat little feature and I used it for Knack a lot, but if I'm in bed playing Vita, I rather spend time on my actual Vita backlog.

But Destiny really does work well.

Hats off to Bungie for taking the time to come up with a super-intuitive control scheme for the Vita even though they totally didn't have to. My love for Destiny on the Vita cannot be conquered. Not even by my girlfriend laughing at me for playing on the couch when I could be just as easily playing it normally on the PS4.

"I'm doing it because I can! The future is now, woman!"

Yep, colleague brought his Vita and we tried Destiny...mind blown how smooth it worked even though our work wi-fi on Vita sucked (just 2 bars). My only complain is the vita sticks are horrible. Can't believe Sony so royally screwed them. Also when will Sony allow DS4 to work with Vita? Why are they not making that happen? They should also sell iOS/android app for PS4 RP and make some easy money with that. I would totally buy that for up to $49.99.

I haven't played Destiny via but RP but I have played tons of Vita stuff since I bought one last November with my PS4. I'd submit to you that this particular game is designed around the DS4 and simply is "off" when played with the Vita's shorter sticks. Most 3D games made natively for the Vita feel great on it.

Glad to see so many new people are checking out this feature.

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. should be soon

I have 2 Vitas and I play them a lot as I move around a lot and it is my main console for the last 6 months. I would say you are safe to go without one. I haven't had any noticeable scratch on one of them and as I said I travel a lot. Although I have to say I always wonder how people can scratch their Dvds etc. If you are one of these persons that handle their techical equiment without care then maybe get one. If you at least somehow care about not putting the Vita in the same bag with keys, then you are safe without one. It's defintily not a known problem.

This is why I'll always have my Vita charged. Doesn't even matter if no games get released for it, I'll always have remoteplay. Nothing better than playing PS4 games on the bed.

Okay, playing Destiny while taking a dump is pretty awesome.

the colors on venus look so gorgeous on the oled, damn! wish my actual pc monitor would come close to this.
I don't know what they did, but the game looks really smooth on the vita, much smoother than D3:UEE. maybe it's because native vs. forced 30 fps?

Ive never had issues with input lag/responsiveness. Its always super smooth. If the connection drops it will completely cut off your view for a moment. And if you have a weak connection, the visual quality will turn into a pixelated youtube video :P but even then, controls tend to work perfect.

Been playing a couple of Destiny PvP matches on the Vita from my bed almost every night before sleeping :D

The game actually looks more impressive on my vita at times.

Ha just make sure your legs don't fall asleep

After trying it out I'm less than impressed. Button mappings are great but it's hard as hell to aim and my Vita can't keep the connection with the console, I've tried both directly to the PS4 and through my router.
If I'm in the same room as the PS4 and connected directly to it it's alright but then there's no real point to it imo. The lack of precision in the sticks is what ruins it most for me.

Yeah it's one of the better shooter RP implementations that's for sure. It's still crap though due to the sticks. Just let us use the DS4 with it Sony.

That's seriously crazy.

P.S. I hate you all for starting to convince me to buy a Vita when I eventually buy a PS4.

Whenever I accidentally touch the rear touch pad while playing destiny on remote play, a blue indicator pops up at the top of the screen showing me which quadrant of the pad I'm touching. Does this do anything and is there a way too turn off this indicator?

Just did The Devils' Lair Earth Strike on Vita while listening to a boring work meeting. Probably not fair to my teammates but I was just as crappy as I always am. Works amazingly.

Realized I am actually inverse look on PS4 but standard on Vita?? Not sure how my brain got that way.

Yes you can. During remote play press PS button on Vita and go into "Settings". There you can turn off visual notifications for both back-touch area and front screen.

Got a 2000 series Vita off ebay with a 16GB card for $125 BIN. Jumped on that like I was putting out a fire.

Destiny remote play is surprisingly good, sticks are not my favorite, but, if I keep a weapon with some decent zoom and stability (like my current auto rifle) it's certainly very playable. I ran some patrol missions and some gold chest searches from my couch. I dont think I'd try PvP, too frantic.

Do you guys have your Vitas connecting to the PS4 or to the WiFi?

I only use my Vita when I am not at home so I only connect to my PS4 through wifi. I turned off Direct Connect on my PS4.

Congrats on your purchase!
Game works incredibly well on Vita. But your right, using my auto rifle is great but using a sniper rifle definitely takes some skill.

I agree, hauled my Vita into the office last week and fired it up just to see, plays great, ran through a couple of missions (on my lunch hour with the office door closed), and didn't experience any noticeable lag that killed the experience or made it any less amazing.

Also fired up Minecraft for a bit and played it just to see, worked great, probably won't bother too much with the Vita version except in a pinch when I can play the PS4 version with the bigger world.

Just got a vita, couple of questions

Is it possible to turn off the back panel touchpad icon that pops up while remote playing? If we cant use it why does it show up? I see it popping up all the time. its not comfortable for me to just hold the vita in the non touch areas. And yet on regular games it doesnt show up? Only RP?

Also a little unrelated, is it possible to turn off the power up sounds of PS3 or PS4, so annoying when you want to play a game w/o waking anyone up.
