Viva Piñata - The Official Thread

. hey, thanks for that scarf you sent me a few nights back.Does anybody but me question the effectiveness of a gatherer or a sprinkler?
Sure they pay themselves off after a while but there is a lot of fruit that goes bad because it isn't collected and a lot of plants that die. My stuff is all spread out. I used to have one garden in a single local but it would attract all the pinatas that do not get a long to one place. So that was no longer an option. Oh yeah, my main staple crop is thisstles and poison ivy. No collecter gathers those and doing it manually every day is very time consuming.
Also, how do you crossbreed? Can you really make two seperate animals mate? I have tried to but they are never interested in each other.

Thanks for the crates guys, pimped out whirlms & squizzles...I like how the game leads your hand on some stuff and leaves a lot more stuff for you to figure out for youself.
Having said that i also wish i had a clue where to start with fertilizer and making pinata variations.

Level 13 / 14 now, but I have two questions again:
- Is there a way to store a template of a label design? I noticed that the offsprings of a piñata that does have a label, carry it over after their birth, but I haven't found anything yet that saves my template or automatically transfers it to new residents.
- How does sending things to others work? Haven't really tried it yet, but I know you have to select someone and that in turn she'll give you a crate. She told me to place it somewhere, but because it took so much space before my garden expanded, I didn't continue. Do I have to put in somewhere and then throw a pinata / item / whatever in there or what?

1) i think only offsprings get the label. The wild pinatas that become resident dont have it.
2) Buy a box at the post office. Select it in the garden and use Y ( pack ) to choose what you want to send. Then select again the box and X ( menu ) and select send.

The sherbats are also one of my favourites and their house is great too. I sent one to Kaizoku.
What i specialy like of the pretztails is their hunt animation. Its hilarious the way they move sneaking like a predator.
Btw, I only got the "clear blue" one ( like the wizard Ezenzer posted some pages ago ) but i have tried a lot of things and cant get any other variant.

Yep thats great. I recently also got another mutation trying to get a quackberry variant.
Finally reached level 30 and got the cutlass sword so from now on i expect to work safely on the garden without those bastards breaking everything.

I called my Sherbats, Sherby and Sherbert. Still need to find a good Sherb name for my 3rd one. My pretztails are called Patrick and Patrice.
When I decide to name a pinata I usually take a part or the first letter of the existing pinata name. Not always. Sweettooth I just called 'Beaver'...heheheh. When I named my Profitamole I just kept thinking of that Austin Powers scene ( http://austinpowersmole.ytmnd.com/ ) and named him Molii.
So far I really like how there's little 'evil' disturbance. In these type of games I usually want to do my own thing, without too much fighting some enemy. I like that the enjoyment and satisfaction doesn't come from 'killing' like in so many other games (not that I don't like that), but from tinkering and experimenting. It's really great to hop between Gears and this game.
. If I start to play now I won't be able to quit till late at night. You can spend hours in this game and it's so very hard to quit.

I still havent tamed any sours yet, that can be my short-term Viva goal for today.
Also I like how you can stop bothering with lower tiered Pinata, nearly every new raisant that comes into my garden gets attacked soon after but I dont bother healing them, I just let my residents eat their guts. I also smash those badger types when they come in because Im trying to get newtgats and everytime I get one some non-resident badger trys to eat it.
Btw, does anyone know if there's any fish Pinata or anything? They'd look neat in my pond.

So the Diggerling guy uncovered an oak tree seed (which was new to me) and I planted the sucker but accidently let it die when I got side tracked. Now I've got eagles coming and going but I need that tree to make 'em stay. How can I get another one? I know if I would've been able to keep that tree alive I could've bought one in the store but...well....you know. Is there any way to tinker to get an oak tree seed?
Don't bother with collectors (other than to get the achievement). They pick up everything (flower caps, fruits, vegetables, etc.) which makes attracting pinatas to your garden much harder. The money you make from selling that stuff is chump change compared to what you can earn by selling pinatas that you breed.

I cannot for the life of me get the Roario to even enter my garden, despite having his requirements to stay. Nothing is blocking his entrance, he just simply stares at my garden.

I created a rabbit pen bordered by hedges for this and those those foxes that hunt the rabbits relentlessly. Also beginning a duck population.

Man I log on just to finish a couple of things I started earlier and by the time I look up at the clock it's 2 and a half hours later. I don't know how this game does it but I can spend hours in VP without realizing it.

When I got the replacement system I knew that I'd get another month free of XBL but I'm thinking now that wasn't ever a code. BTW, I had an elephant visit and he was eating my blackberries but I couldn't get him to stay. Now the guy just hangs on the outskirt of my garden looking in everyday.....that dick.

Anyone else experienced this? All the pinata in the garden who are ready to romance randomly lose their libido at the same time? It's not like they're unhappy or anything either. And uh, how do you get a green flutterscotch? Didn't see a green flower, so I figured you romance a blue and yellow flutterscotch, but they won't even do it. Or am I just experiencing some weird romance glitch?

The Juicygoose especially was a pain in the ass to romance because the hearts over their heads would only appear for like 30 seconds at a time and they'd keep flying around the garden constantly and I couldn't select them in time.
