Viva Piñata - The Official Thread

This is probably an easy question for the Viva Vets, but I've got happy/breeding buzzlegums but can't get them to interact with the honey building. What am i missing?

I thought by "honey building" he meant honey factory.....



Something I figured out today was that you need to individually sprinkle fertilizer on each plant you want to be affected by it.....
 
no you dont, as long as the fert hits numerous plants within the circle it counts for all, its how I make so much money.

Also I booted the game up today after a long break and had 3 packages from speevy and 1 from someone else, I take it speevy likes hats :D

I don't know why, but this post makes me want to play the game in order to re-create the video for The Safety Dance.

Can you buy a Maypole in the game at some point?

How is fertiliser supposed to work?

And how do I get doenuts? I fulfil all the pre-requisites yet they just wander around outside but refuse to come in.

If you're garden is full the pinatas dont usually come in obviously, so check for that. Fertilzer can be used 3 times on any plant that requires tending, usually you can just dash it on 3 times immediately but some plants (trees usually) require timing.
 
Finally got a squazzil...this after growing a couple of hazelnut trees and leaving some hazelnuts lying around for the past few hours.

I got barkbark dogs now too :)
 
I just checked out the 'bonus disc' and I can't play it on my 360, wrong region code. Weird that the game is region free for PAL/US NTSC but the bonus disc is region locked. What's on the bonus disc?

The Juicygoose especially was a pain in the ass to romance because the hearts over their heads would only appear for like 30 seconds at a time and they'd keep flying around the garden constantly and I couldn't select them in time.

That also happened to me with the redhots. I went crazy to get them to mate, they had the requirements ready but their heart only appeared for brief moments and didnt have a clue why.

My sherbats: Raistlin & Crysania.

For the sherbats as i customized one as a superheroe ("BatPin") i´m gonna follow that route and make a "The incredibles" team of supersherbats now that i plan on achieving master romancer for them. I´ll make them all red and put them masks.
 
My time with this game has been very enjoyable. Constantly having to adapt and learn.

My first garden, after expansion - was a mess, so I made a new garden and started from scratch with the bigger size. After the final expansion, it was a mess again lol, so I went back to my first garden, sold or boxed up every pinata, house and plant and am in the process of adapting it into a huge water based garden.

Had my first glimpse of the hippo, omg its awesome, I cant wait to get one of those :D

Once I've done my water garden, I might go back to my second garden and clean that up or just start a 3rd garden!
 
My little problem with the evolution of my garden is that i don´t want to get rid of some of the pinatas, some of the lowest levels, and that is a constraint to evolve it or get others.

I just had a fizzlybear visit my garden and walking through is a danger to the little ones, which makes them unhappy.

And talking about multiple gardens, if i had for example two gardens would it be possible to send to myself a pinata from one of the gardens to the other?

A workaround would be to send the pinata to a friend and that would be sent back and opened in the other own garden.

Yes, send it like how you normally do but send it to your gamertag (your tag should be at the bottom of your friends list). Then just open the crate in your second garden.


It's a very good idea to have multiple gardens. You can attract certain pinatas more easily that way instead of having just one garden that you'd be constantly remaking. I had a forest type garden (tall grass and lots of trees) and a water garden (lots of water) for getting water pinatas like the quackberry, sweetooth, coacoadile, etc.

yeah thats what i have done, I boxed my pinatas up and sent them to myself.

But since you cant fit all pinatas into one garden, I will end up with multiple gardens anyway and keep incompatible ones in seperate gardens.

My trouble is trying to make your garden have lots of plants etc, they keep dying and needing replanting or watering or fertilising etc. How does everyone else cope with this efficiently? Whats the water waiver do?
 
Great, then i´ll make new gardens and sent some of the pinatas from one to other.

I have some ideas, one farm oriented and the other a kinda night botanic garden just with the sherbats, crowlas, moths and alike.

Theres a helper that waters them. Haven´t contracted yet.

Also the last water can upgrade is a magic one and you only need to pour the plants once, for example just after you plnated it, and after that they keep the water level and you dont have to worry about them.

They need a pinata fighting arena.

(where you can not only visit a friend's garden, but also control an animal and start a fight with his)

But that's confusing because I sprinkle it around and it only affects one of them (I've tried this many times). I only hear one sound and I only see one plant immediately affected (sometimes, like for the carrots, there seems to be a little dialation animation whenever you sprinkle the fert)..


Anybody else care to comment on this? How many plants can one thing of fert affect?
 
Its a fact not a thought, take 10 chili beans and cluster them right near each other, a few shots of fert can take on an entire feild if you're good enough. You just have to know how to do it.

Fertilizing an apple tree or an Oak Tree is trickier than other vegetables or flowers. Instead of fully fertilizing 3 times right after planting, you have to wait until certain stages in the tree's growth to fully fertilize it. Immediately after planting you can fertilize it once with its fertilizer. Then you must wait until the tree has grown. You can tell when the tree is ready for more fertilizer when it shakes and leaves fall from the branches. Wait again for it to shake and then you can perform the last fertilization. Make sure it's watered, wait for it to grow, and you should have a fully branched tree that has more branches and will produce more fruit!

I just master romanced the Swanana. Not only are those the dumbest animals there are, but they're also the most annoying. I'm going to beat them and their offspring to death for being so difficult.

I just wanted to pop in and say that Viva is my GOTY. It's a fantasically designed game, it looks beautiful, and its addicting as hell. And although the soundtrack is very understated, I love the orchestrated pieces.

Also: I'm like level 30, and Sparrowmints are still the cutest mother****ers in the game. :lol
 
when do you start getting Factory missions? Im level 13 and taking a long time trying to become master romancer for each species

Your favorite pinata house - I like the Mousemallow house a lot, but I haven't seen a lot of the houses yet. Cinnamonkey is pretty awesome too

Your least favorite romance dance - I remember being a bit disappointed in the Cinnamonkey, but I don't really remember why.
 
Quick random questions, starting with the most simple :

How do I name the pinatas?? I cant find any options for it.

How much bigger does the area get? I've expanded once, I hope it expands a few more times... only level 11 right now. Also, what requirements have to be met in order to expand?

Um, can I have more cool stuff sent to me? : )
 
Been playing for a couple of days, holy crap is this addicting. I've got to cool it down some or I'll shirk all other responsibilities.

Any idea what it means when the romance is gone and none of your species want to get busy any more?
