Vsync on or off?

Always on. 100% of the time, no exceptions. Screen tearing and motion judder are the greatest evils in the history of mankind.

People who play with Vsync off don't deserve PC gaming! They clearly have no standards regarding IQ and performance. The input lag is unfortunate, but nothing is worse than screen tearing and the inconsistent judder you get from fluctuating frame rate. That shit is the destroyer of worlds.

I really wish that there was a G-Sync television on the horizon though. I'd love to be able to turn off Vsync and not have to deal with tearing or judder. Maybe some day.

Or they just have better computers than you do. 120hz+ monitor and some beefy GPUs and there is no reason to ever turn Vsync on.

Edit: NM, I just noticed you play on your television with a controller. Clearly you know what being a PC gamer is all about. /rolleyes

I should note that my PC is permanently hooked up to a television. Concepts like "twitch shooters" that are played with a "mouse and keyboard" are foreign to me. I'm a civilized human living in 2014, I play all PC games from the comfort of my couch — with controller in hand!

Oh input delay is only for m/kb players? I only use a controller as well so maybe that's why I can't notice it.

I'm sure there is still input lag, but dual analogue controllers are already so imprecise and sluggish it's kind of hard to notice on top of that.

I remember unlocking Bioshock's framerate for the first time on the 360 and walking down some corridor in utter amazement at the 60fps smoothness. I then turned to the left and the screen tore more than Geoff Capes in a phone book factory.

Never again.
Never, never again.

Depends on the game. In mouse controlled shooters I usually want all the responsiveness I can get, so I turn VSync off. Tearing isn't all that distracting to me. In slower games or those I play with a gamepad I usually turn it on though.
