Wait, did NeoGeo ever made any stinkers?

I cant seriously think of any neo geo games that sucked, I mean sure some might not be that great for today standards but they were awesome in their era.

I'll give it a shot, um... Mutation nation?
Still,that game was rad.

Legend of Success Joe is probably the worst game, yeah.

Power Spikes 2 was awful. Super Spy was terrible. Thrash Rally was weak. Art of Fighting really wasn't very good (except for 3, which was actually pretty rad.)

But the library was pretty damn consistent overall. Such a great system.

Sure, one of the earliest games, Cyber-Lip.

Considering their cost to manufacture the cartridges I bet they had some pretty intense certification for deciding which games made the cut and which didn't.

@OP: Mutation Nation is awesome. As far as SNK beat'em ups go, Burning Fight and the first Sengoku are much shittier.

What's considered the worst game for the Neo Geo made by SNK?

prolly The Super Spy

Though

-Ghost pilots
-Football Frenzy
-Top Player's Golf

are also kind of weak.

shitty third-party games:

-Fight Fever
-Power Spikes 2
-Legend of Success Joe

Thrash Rally was weak

I find Thrash Rally to be a lot more fun than Overtop. I usually hate 2D racing games but I really like it for whatever reason.

The Super Spy had great atmosphere. Good game to zone out to while drinking.

That describe a lot of the early games, I think, Games like Sengoku and Crossed Swodrs are totally broken if you try to play them "seriously" but they're fun as mindless quarter-munchers with infinite credits.

Erm, SNK was probably one of the most egregious offenders in the 'arcade game design' field. Most of the games they produced were very much quarter munchers in the worst way.

Lets look at the Neo Geo from the perspective of U.S. print magazine coverage in 1990.

Electronic Gaming Monthly - Video Games & Computer Entertainment - GamePro - Game Informer.

A time before all the SNK fighters began to arrive.

Ignoring the gorgeous graphics, AOF 3 is by far the most boring of the 3 games. 1 is still funny on SP, and the versus in AOF 2 is amazing

3 count bout is an awful wrestling game, the single player is almost unwinnable. Magician Lord is horrible too, funny engrish voices aside

I love the comment on the Game Boy.

"Conceived as a joke on the intelligence of mankind, this soon to be extinct contraption is strictly too difficult and painful to play."

World Heroes always felt....underwhelming to me. I kinda enjoyed it, but it also felt like a ripoff of their own games.

It technically wasn't developed by them, but it would've been as if Nintendo published Giana Sisters along Mario Bros.

I'll be the one to say I LOVE Cyber-Lip. Unwinnable single player games like 3countBout or King of Monsters are WAY worse.

Didn't realize the GB was hated on that much...

Oh the complaints were valid, but you practically had to be a journalist with an ac adapter to enjoy the other portable systems and sales reflected that reality.

The $99 dollar price and long life on batteries played well with the masses.

Magician Lord (It looked good. That's about where the game stopped mattering tho.)
Sengoku (Super repetitive.)
Burning Fight (Final Fight clone with fewer options/depth.)

Those were typical sentiments back in the day. Before Pokemon came along, it was common to hear things about it like "good for playing Tetris on airplanes and little else."

Pretty much.
