Wait, PSP Has NeoGeo And PC Engine Games?

So as some of you may know, I recently got re-aquainted with a PSP after many, many years of not having one. I guess I missed a lot of firmware revisions, because now when I sort my games, I see folders for minis, PlayStation, and now Neogeo AND PC Engine. This took me by surprise! I am assuming they did something in Japan and never brought it here. I am having trouble finding official documentation either way. Question is, is it possible to get rid of these folders that will never be used by me?

Also, I think it's pretty safe to say that the PSP will not get any more firmware updates, right?

i know neogeo games are sold on psn in europe, the only problem with them is this was before crossbuy so if you want both the psp and ps3 versions you will have to purchase them seperately

As I recall the "folders" are just a sort filter, no? Press square to change sort style?

Anyways, yeah. And ergo Vita has those games too ;)

You're correct in assuming this is Japan related. PSP in the west has some NeoGeo games, but the vast majority of titles are in Japan.

The folders are related to the sort filter you're using and can be changed so that they don't appear by pressing the square button.

I'm disappointed that we never got to see the PC Engine games get released over here.

What exactly was the selection over there?

Without folders though, it's a mis-mash of everything in a very odd order.

Seriously, I wish they would give the system a final update to sort how you like. Same goes for PS3.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a PSP / PS Vita must be in want of a selection of games from the Neo Geo and PC Engine.

So, no you can't get rid of the place holder folders so easily, but the bigger question is why you are not buying as many Neo Geo & PC Engine games as you can from thr JPN store?

1. Don't feel like dealing with multiple accounts on one handheld.

2. Have everything I want on Wii VC.

If you're running CFW there is a plugin that you can use called 'Game Categories' or 'Game Categories Lite' (depending on what CFW you're running) that enables you to create and manage your own folders and a Windows program called 'pspHBSortTool' that can order the individual files within.

With that I have folders for Minis, PSP Games, PS1 Games, Visual Novels, Homebrew Games, Homebrew Emulators, Homebrew Tools.

Region-locked accounts is the #1 dumbest thing about the Vita.
#2 would be the memory card prices. At least Sony apparently makes a bunch of money off that overpriced bullshit. Who benefits from region-locks?
