wow, i did NOT know that Walgreens had that much cash on hand.
Wow. Now it's just Wallgreens and CVS. There used to be another that Rite Aid bought out but I can't remember what it was called.
I didn't know they were bigger than Rite Aid. Thought they were suffering and kind of niche actually.
What's going to happen to thrifty ice cream?
Not really. Wal-Mat has a pharmacy, K-Mart has a pharmacy, every single regional grocery store chain has a pharmacy.
Wow I remember when Eckerds died. Used to get all my meds filled there.
Add Target on that list as well.
Far from a monopoly. Potentially stronger oligopoly however.
Are there any other pharmacy chains or are they basically going to be a monopoly?
I feel like my mom must've had a knack for only shopping at doomed stores or something. Eckerds was always her pharmacy of choice, so I was there like every other week as a kid. I think the grocery stores and gas stations she shopped at are gone now, too.
CVS is a big one but they're more East coast-only.
I'm a Publix guy.

When I was a kid, the local Walgreens was a dump and there weren't many locations in our area. I always assumed the chain was on its last legs. Guess I was wrong.

Forgot about Target somehow.
CVS bought Target's pharmacies. in June.
So it's basically Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart, with Kroger and the shell of K-Mart/Sears way behind.

There are lots and lots of regional grocery chains. Just in PA we have Giant, Giant Eagle, Weis, Wegmans, ShopRite and probably others. They all have pharmacies.

Well that's annoying. I quite like my Target Pharmacy, hopefully it won't involve any staff changes.
Go on.My aunt is a tech at a Target pharmacy and as far as I know they're keeping their jobs.
I however, am a Walgreen's employee and this news kind of irked me for reasons I don't really want to get into, but the Walgreen's of 2015 is not the same company that I started working for in 2009.
Please don't take away the Thrifty Ice Cream. It's the only Ice Cream I like -__-
Both of these places are trash. I only go where my main man Mitt goes.

Hey guys remember Rose's?
Maybe for a while at least they will stop pestering me to get a Rite Aid card every time I buy a coke.
