Walking Dead developer would love to make a James Bond game

Telltale Games has been on quite the streak with its game series in the last few years, such as Back to the Future, The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, and the upcoming Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones. However, in an interview with OXM, Telltale Games’ CTO and co-founder Kevin Bruner mentioned the sort of “dream project” that he would love to take on next might just surprise you.

Speaking with OXM, Bruner mentioned that as a particularly big fan of the James Bond series, he would love to see the studio take on the much-beloved novels/films in adapting the character into Telltale’s trademark adventure-game titles, especially given the character’s mixed assortment of licensed video game titles from the last several years. In a brief clip from the interview, Bruner mentions:

“I’m a giant James Bond fan and I’m always frustrated by games that make him a mass murderer. He’s a super-spy, and that’s a different skillset. The films make him less of a mass murderer, and there’s not much killing in the books – more spying and intrigue."

He's also not really a morally ambivalent guy. Unless the Multiple-choice-answer is just a list of cool and funny one liners I'm not sure the Telltale format would fit the IP that well.

James Bond could be okay. I think with what they did with Wolf Among Us, they could take on DC properties. I'd like to see John Constantine happen.

Nothing like a story driven QTE experience to capture the essence of Bond right? Action is a big draw on the license so shooting a bunch of faceless goons isn't something to be upset about.

I like the idea, but please just focus on The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead for now, okay Telltale?

For me James Bond game would be something interesting from Quantic Dream not Telltale
How so? Quantic Dream does the same thing as TellTale, only less interesting.

No thanks bond for me needs to stick in the third or first person genres.
Don't really feel TT games would be a good fit. Since from a story angle there isn't much they could do with it.
At least not for the "deepness" they have been trying for as of late.

Well, I don't know if you ever watched any of the pre-Brosnan films or read the books, but tons of action is actually not the defining feature of Bond.

I would happily go for a telltale - book based series or a creation inspired by this.

Your right about my experience with Bond. I don't find the plot of the movies I've seen to be interesting and watch them for entertainment value rather than story. If there's demand for it then they can go ahead with it provided they get their act together on the load of projects they already have.

My favorite Bond game was Alpha Protocol. It would be interesting to see their take on him, though. Hopefully it's more Casino Royale than Moonraker.

I've read every James Bond book and they are much deeper and more intense than the movies. They would work well as a deep story game.

For God's sake, just stick with your current projects and increase the frequency & quality of episode releases.

I'll take your word on that having not read any of the novels.
In the books, Bond only kills about 3 people on average per book. He relies mostly on stealth and quick decisions. He rarely shoots his gun because he knows his ammo is limited and, so he can't be revealed as an agent, only caries one extra clip of bullets. Because of this, he very rarely shoots and mostly melees. But when he does shoot, he's constantly counting his shots in his head so he doesn't run out.

The books are heavily placed on designing and implementing a plan of stealth to get through to someone. A walking dead like game would be perfect where you have to choose your path and plan to infiltrating and conversations with the enemy is always tense because bond plays out in his head what will happen of he says the wrong thing. It's actually pretty tense and could work very well as an adventure game.

No thanks. James Bond needs to be like Nightfire or Everything or Nothing. No point and click. I love the adventure genre, but Bond needs something else.

I'd buy it. Though while I'm sure they'd do justice to the talky bits, I don't think their engine can really handle the big set-pieces people expect from the franchise. Still, perhaps they could have it as a spin-off that would provide a more literary contrast to the reskinned Call of Duty Activision will undoubtedly shit out to tie in with the latest movie.

If it plays like the stealth segments from Beyond it could actually work. But I still think Bond should be a straight TPS.

They are actually much more interesting to me. Telltale does good stories with relatively uninspired and safe gameplay. Quantic Dream does bad to mediocre stories, but their approach to gameplay and player agency is far more interesting and unique than anything Telltale has done so far. I'm much more fascinated and excited by the latter. I guess they would be a better fit for Bond because of realistic graphics and great acting by famous actors. Also Beyond had some nice stealth and vehicle segments that could work for Bond while Telltale has done nothing in that regard.

That being said, neither should actually take Bond. They are better off making something else.

Would much rather see a game based on Vin Diesel's xXx character.

This. I can't believe they took on two more projects when they just started up Wolf Among Us and Walking Dead season 2. I didn't pick up the newest episode of Walking Dead because so many people were having problems with it detecting your previous choices.

Fix your technical shit first Telltale.

I'd be all for it, but I bet that if they were true to Bond's character it would rile the shit out of the gaming-social justice brigade.

How about getting your little Wolf game to work on a 360 without dropping every other frame?

How about not biting off more than you can possibly chew with quality in mind.

Also how about making a NEW engine with MORE interactivity so you can call your "games" games.

I love bond, but every telltale game I've ever bought has ran like shit. They need make working games but they'd rather keep filling their plate with more licenses instead.

they could make the plot some sort of race against a doomsday device that wipes your save file. they are good at wiping saves already.
