Walmart.com: 360 in stock, NO BUNDLES

Well I sent an email earlier today to APX and received the following email tonite:

Dear Customer,

In regards to your email, our shipping takes approximately 7 - 10 business days from the time we receive it at our facility to be delivered. We received the electronic manifest on the 19th, but have not yet received the physical package. If you have any questions please feel free to email me and I will answer the best I can.

Thank you

Arrgh. Glad I went with Costco also for a 360. My friend will have to wait until his arrives.

We're never getting our 360s.

from the CAG forums:

I've spoken with APX regarding the USPS update. Their stance is that is exclusive of actually shipping it, it is just a notification to USPS. Here's the problem with the whole APX debacle. If you got UPS or FedEx good for you, you lucked out with a parcel carrier. APX on the other hand is not like UPS or FedEx in that they are a freight company. Freight companies will are just in charge of getting an item to a region and there at the locality another company will usually be the one that delivers it to you. I've had freight items shipped to me before, but these were industrial sized items ala 600 lbs. So why is a measly Xbox being shipped freight you ask?

I've spoken with a supervisor at WalMart and according to the company when they have overflow they ship out via APX, even for small items. This sounds fishy but as someone who is ignorant about this issue, I have to give them benefit of the doubt.

Now, why is APX showing the manifest is received only? The person I spoke with today at APX was not really sure what was going on so she could not explain anything further than the website. The APX representative yesterday and had more insight, and said that the WalMart delivery was only received on Monday and there was nothing to be concerned about regarding timely delivery.

Now what do I believe and where will I go with this information?
Well, frankly shipment is guaranteed no later than 12/1. Until then, there really is no recourse because I agreed to those delivery terms. If the item is not received by then, WalMart will automatically refund the amount. Do I like that I was charged as soon as the item shipped? Of course not, but they are entitled to that right. Personally, I am optimistic that I will receive the item with no headaches. From everything I've learned it is clear that APX is your normal freight company. APX isn't interested in providing fancy websites, up-to-date shipping information, or lightning fast deliveries. By the time that website is updated I'm sure I will be buying my next 360 game. Until then, I will bide my time.

these haven't shipped yet. when the USPS tracking becomes active and shows movement then the 360s are on their way to us.

"APX on the other hand is not like UPS or FedEx in that they are a freight company"

Am I the only one here that doesnt see where it says they are a freight company? Am I reading something wrong, its been a long day...

Just checked that link and one of their service centers is in my city. Hopefully that makes a difference as to how soon I get the package.

Btw that email and that other person who spoke to APX clearly spoke to them before the Usps page said it was expecting a package and two I still see no where on APX site saying its a freight company :|

someone at cag posted this...

Here's my WM.com/APX story:

I called WM.com yesterday, and after getting two different stories from one CS rep, I asked for a Supervisor. This person GUARANTEED (her word, not mine) that the "Manifest received by shipping partner" message on the APX website indicated more than just paperwork had been generated - She said that this meant that the product had actually been placed in a box and had been delivered to (or picked up by) APX. She said this had to be the case because, the way WM.com works with APX, they don't have anything to scan until they have a physical package, which is what creates the APX "Reference Number" that links to the APX site.

I also told her that I had called APX and had gotten the same story that many others have written they have gotten - Specifically, that APX was saying that they hadn't received a package due to the presence of only that "Manifest received by shipping partner" message on their website. She said that the APX rep was probably responding based upon the way they process most of their packages, but that this was not the way that things worked with WM.com.

Finally, I asked her why my credit card had not yet been charged. She looked at my order, and said that it was probably just a matter of their on-line system getting caught up, since she saw that an authorization for payment had been generated. Sure enough, between last night and this morning, the charge hit my credit card.

So, after having that conversation, I feel a lot better about things. I felt as though I had actually dug up someone at WM.com who really knew how things worked around there, as opposed to some rep who had to put me on hold to go and ask someone else about what a particular message means on WM.com.

I checked on things tonight, and the link from APX to the USPS tracking number now displays a different message for me. It says, "The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on November 22, 2005 to expect your package for mailing." It didn't say that before, as the previous message indicated that USPS had no record of that tracking number on their site. So, why would APX let USPS know that there was a package "expected" for mailing if APX was not in possession of one?

The only odd thing is though that according to APX's web site they send packages to the nearest APX center then it goes into the USPS system. However when you get a email about tracking from USPS it says that the package location is in Memphis. So they are putting the package into the USPS system there? The web site and what actually is happening doesn't seem to line up.

I'm just not gonna worry about it. I'll check this thread from time to time on updates from you guys, but I think I'm just gonna play Counter-Strike and WoW until 12/01. If it's not here by then, then I'll bust some CS rep ass.

What fun is that. The Wallmart thread is way more fun than playing games :)

ok here is theory #100056:

I'm guessing now that APX sent out a notice to USPS because the packages are leaving TN and heading out to the various APX centers around the country. Once they get there they will actually be given to the USPS where it should take another day or two to get the packages in our hands.

Everyones 360's from Walmart are coming from TN,even the people who pre-ordered bundles.

So this APX place must be in TN and they must be getting ready to give them off to usps there, thats really the only thing that makes sense to me.

My brain will burst if I try to figure out this bs puzzle.

edit- or maybe your theory is right.

I don't know, it sounds like they get it to the closest service center before they hand it off to usps. If thats the case then for me it should go from TN.(about 9 hours away) to the service center in my city then to usps. I think I'll hype myself up for a friday delivery. :D

If mine gets to me by Monday or so, I'll be satisfied. To be honest I was expecting a late delivery anyway -- just hoping for an earlier one.

If thats the case then I believe the closet service center from TN to Manhattan is the APX one is New Jersey,I'll be lucky to see mine this week.

I see next Monday or Tuesday is the day I get it cause of Turkey day....unless APX/USPS tracking is delayed and its actually further along then we think.

I figured they were all coming from TN because that's where the main FedEx distribution center is (Memphis). If you pull up Bartlett, TN on an online map, it's right on top of Memphis.

Memphis has an APX service center so our packages must be there, then they will shipped to our closest service center and then delivered by our local post office.

I think that makes sense,I just dont get the whole Usps has been notified to expect a package, cause looking at the site it looks like usps is the last step before delivering our packages.

Unless the bulk mailing center is usps who then ships it to your closet apx service center who then it turn sends it to your local post office...whoa im done.

I don't understand why the post office shipping # updated again today though.

My (optimistic) guess as to what the process is is that the Xboxes all left for the Memphis center on the 19th, and then today when they got sorted out they generated that new number. From this point, they're going to be taken by freight (i.e. APX's trucks) to local shipping centers where they will be handed off to the postal carriers for local delivery.

I'm not sure of the time frame on that, of course. :D

Here is how I really think it happens and it's beyond stupid.Needless steps and thats why its so hard to track stuff....

1.Walmart in TN tells APX in TN its needs packages picked up,manifest notice is generated* They are assigned a Reference Number which means APX has really gotten them*

2.APX then contacts usps TN bulk mailing center letting them know they have packages for them and usps gets them and our usps tracking numbers start showing info * I really think the usps in tn has our packages now,not APX*

3.Usps TN bulk mailing center then ships out our packages to the closest APX SCF *sectional center facility*,which in my case would be the one in New Jersey.

4.APX truck drivers drive to our local post office and then the post office delivers the item, either that day or the next,if its a Holiday or Sunday they wont.

This is what I think based on reading through posts on diff boards and looking at their approach to doing things...

http://www.shipapx.com/our_approach.php

that doesn't explain 4 days of stagnation. the only thing that does is Walmart sold some systems in transit to them before they were unpacked. now they're being "shipped" starting today.

either way hopefully this thread will die and these will arrive late this week or early next. :)

Like I said earlier in thread... a lot of people will be sad come Monday.

Everyone calm down! since I live in SC I should get mine first...my state is next to TN.

I think all of us should be happy for me.. thats all that matters :)

Well it was the weekend when we were first notifed of the manifest slip,so that would explain why for two days nothing happend.I think it took like a day for APX to get all of our packages ready to go to usps and thats why our usps tracking info finally came alive today, apx is a smaller company and runs slower than UPS/Fed Ex.

In my history of ordering stuff online, even ups/fed ex ground dont update stuff during the weekend, they mainly just list manifest stuff or electronic billing has been recieved info.

If we feel like this now, just wait and see how we feel tomorrow when people from this thread who got FedEx / UPS shipping from this deal post that they got their system! :lol

What I'm wondering is whether the USPS "expects you package" notification means that the package is physically enroute already. I live in Illinois, which is just north of TN. In theory it would only take APX a day to get to the Chicago distribution center.

Of course this is all irrelevant meaningless speculation. But eh, with out a 360 to play, what else is one to do? :lol

I'm honestly not sad right now.

I'm more annoyed that in this day and age we cant get decent tracking or answers from one a huge ass company like Walmart and a shipping company that prides itself in being one of the nation’s largest business-to-consumer package delivery providers :lol With reliable solutions and the most competitive pricing in the industry, we deliver value as well as your packages."

They dont deliver tracking, thats for sure :lol

According to the graph the usps doesn't get involved till the package gets to one of the destination centers.
process6mx.gif

Going by that, apx picks it up from walmart, then gets it to one of it's service centers and then gives it to the usps at the destination for the "last-mile delivery".

you're right... that graph is confusing but look at the bottom part vs the top part which would be if Walmart used USPS directly (which they should do or stick to UPS) LOL.

Its still a retarded graph and none of us should have to be reading a graph to try to figure out where our package is...this is sad on their part.

also what is the bulk mailing center? :\

no doubt about it.

but if walmart can save 0.05 cent on shipping a package they will. :x

I'd give them a friggin extra nickel for better shipping for my package, all they had to do was ask :(

This sucks. At least I can take comfort in knowing that a package is on the way. Now all I have to do is worry about when it will be here and what condition it will be in after being handed off so many times. :|

So true. What I'm still wondering about, is my regular mailman going to have to lug this in his bag and deliver it like the mail? If so, I feel bad for the mofo. :lol

Haha :lol I didnt even think about that,16 pounds,my mailman better not drop it.

Ok I really need to turn off the part of my brain that triggers worst case scenarios.

Yeah, as soon as I sign for it I'm considering giving my mail man a preemptive kick to the nads. Just in case.

Your item was processed and left our MEMPHIS, TN facility on November 23, 2005. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

So I guess the post office is sending it to Jersey City now, since I'm in Brooklyn.
