Warframe is PS4's second most-downloaded app; more free-to-play planned

I'm curious to see revenue numbers for the game myself. Good to see it downloaded a lot though.

*fistbump*

One of the best next-gen games on the consoles right now, easily. After four months I've cleared most of the planets and locations, done void missions and am dipping my toes into Orokin Derelict missions and vaults for the first time.

There has always been something to keep things interesting and free from a grind - though that may be changing. I need 600 Oxium to start building a Zephyr warframe (I have all the blueprints) and I don't see that happening anytime soon. In fact, if I wanted to farm resources for it I'd probably just quit playing altogether as that would be a grind, and I don't do those.

But its an optional side goal so I do still play, as I do still have fun with the moment to moment sprint/jump/stab-stab/boom badassery of it all.

This game seems to be popular on PC as well. I just started playing today with my brother and a friend. Reminds me of Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer, which I also had fun with.

So I ask this literally every time this game comes to mind. Can you transfer your character from the PC version yet?

Funny thing is that I find it more viable to sell stuff for platinum and then buy the frames with plat.

This is a very mediocre game to me.

I have no idea how my friend grinded his way to 100% all trophies in this game including all update packs.

The trophies aren't terribly demanding really. What's your friend's mastery rank? That is the mark of a true Champion.

I've tried Warframe on the PS4 after having played it for bit a while ago on the PC. It's either an entirely different beast than the PC version or the updates (it's been about a year since I last played on PC) have drastically shifted the combat in the game.

I just don't see (nor use) melee much anymore. There used to be a lot of melee going on with the PC version but now on the PS4, there is a lot more gun usage. Melee actually feels sloppy to use. Maybe it's just the switch from mouse+kb to controller. Maybe it's the updates. Maybe it's just me. I'm almost tempted to re-download the PC version now and see how it compares.
It changed in PC too... PS4 version is few weeks behind PC in terms of updates but it exactly the same game.

Devs are working in the Melee 2.0 right now to the future update... the variations and option will make you can use only Melee if you want.

Game is constantly being changed in substantial ways. There's always some crazy new feature coming in the next update. The game you're playing today will likely be much different than the one you could play in a year or so.

Melee combat, specifically, is about to be radically altered with Melee 2.0 in the next patch.

Also the metagame is about to turn into Eve Online.

The trophies are extremely easy to get. You can get almost half of them within the first 10 hours since they involve you doing things you would normally do playing the game. Field Medic is the hardest one to get since it requires you to revive 100 times.

I had to start over when I switched to PS4, but I hadn't spent plat on PC yet.

Loving the PS4 version. Rhino is so damn satisfying.

Pretty easy the trophies... just playing you will get most of them... I just needs more 4 that are respective a to level up weapons type that I never used... all the others come just playing without grind for trophies.

Melee 2.0 is pretty good. The thing that sucks is that the stances are mod cards, so the only way to get them are enemy drops, and the good ones are kinda rare.

Ah... of course.

Seriously though, the grind for some of them is going to be painfull with those <1% drop rates. Gotta stock up on some credits I guess.

Rhino is the basic Warframe tank... and overpowered because it is practically invincible... in the hardest level always will be a Rhino that will revive you... his main special skil mastered give you 19 seconds to make anything in the field.

The best part is that even being a slow tank it have a equipment that make it the second fastest Warframe of the game...

The downside is the it is not cool like the others... Frost is amazing... Nova too.

While it's not as flashy, stomp still looks awesome.

I also don't like how you're finding mostly common mods you could have found on Mercury on Pluto, Ceres, etc... basically high level planets. Risk dosen't seem to equal the reward here. I've actually found more rare mods on Mercury than I have in the outer solar system. Had two thunderbolts drop for me during two quick runs on Appollodorus last week for example.

Well, the PC version just recently got an update that overhauled the melee system(now dubbed melee 2.0). Now each weapon has a slot where you can use a specific mod that allows for melee combos. It's pretty spiffy. The PS4 version hasn't gotten that update yet.

Congrats to Digital Extremes

Even though Warframe isn't my cup of tea, I still appreciate it and mostly everything else they've done in the past. Dark Sector in particular, is a bit underrated.

I got most of the rare mods and diagrams in the Void missions... the alert mission have good awards too.

I think they mentioned in a live stream that they'll increase the drop rate of rare items in end game missions and the void. So basically high risk high reward.

It's been long overdue.

Still waiting for Planetside 2. I tried to play it on my PC and it lags like a motherfucker even though I got pretty solid specs.

WarFrame is a solid game, I could see it being sort of PSO-ish, but the UI and different systems for custimozation and upgrading are so overly complicated and convoluted for the most part. When I am playing the missions it's alright, but once I get to the menus I feel like this:
i-have-no-idea-what-im-doing-dog.jpg

I'm in the same boat. I've read into it's post game systems and put cards in places and even have a couple of abilities... it's just brutally unfriendly to start with. There needs to be a tutorial about it's out of game stuff, not the ingame.

Thought it was terribly boring when playing in multiplayer.

Single player, though, is absolutely fantastic. The free to play 'gameplay' actually works really well, and makes it really feel like you're earning everything you're working for (wait times on building things, limited revives per day). I've only used the money you get from PS+, but haven't really felt the need to pay my way out of any gameplay (which could be to the monetization's detriment, but alas).

honestly playing the ps4 version compared to the pc version feels like a different game.

It's like i can't pull off half the moves or zip around the environments nearly as well on ps4. The controls are quite laggy and unresponsive as just faceing a few enemies makes the framerate drop. But i guess it's a bit expected after playing the game at like 120fps.

I downloaded it on PS4 and went back to download it on PC. PS4 sold me on Warframe, and made me try Planetside 2 also since I had a new card. Warframe ran so good on PS4 compared to my old pc card.

Fun game with friends. Haven't played in a while though. For a f2p I got a good amount of enjoyment out of it.

They need to fix that you UI though, cause goddamn lol. It's made to be used with a mouse. But a good UI should be accessible no matter what. Perhaps they can integrate touch pad navigation?

This is still great news though. Planetside 2 is gonna do pretty well on PS4.

minus the pretty physx particle effects :(

I thought it would be quite time consuming to level most of the classes to level 30, I'm sure by now he has spent over 500+ hours in that game.

Perhaps so.

I have no idea what his mastery rank is, I would imagine they aren't very hard to get, again, just very time consuming.

We want planetside 2, that's one of the games I'm looking forward the most. (I do not have a pc and neither do I need one)

Sorely wanted to play Warfrasme on ps4, but since I can't migrate my pc account (where I have stored cash to purchase things) it has resulted in me not playing the game att all. If nothing ever hasppens with migration I will continue running it on the pc.

None of this matters any more if vehicle controls in PS2 are any good. If PS2 is released any time soon, that is.

Family life kinda nixed any chance to really get into Warframe, but the 3 missions I played I really enjoyed. My main bugbear with the game is that I think they should redesign the UI for use on a TV viewed from a distance rather than a monitor close-up.

Good to hear its a success tho - and despite the family stuff, I'm looking forward to PS2 and H1Z1.

Its the only game I have right now on PS4 but Im having good fun with it.
I just wish the environments were more varied( youre always in the same looking ships), and also warframes being slightly easier/less grindy to obtain (Im still with Excalibur!).
