Warframe teaser trailer - The Prophet (Day 1 on PS4)

You don't have to buy much to get new weapons and Warframes.

You can build them by using blueprints, which drop from bosses and the Void, or you can buy the blueprints using in game credits.
Yeah. Am hoping to avoid it entirely, which seems to be the case, albeit with a grind. But as long as the core gameplay stays fun I'll stick with it.

Just wanted to prepare people who might be expecting a 99 cent charge here or there. Oh no. What I saw was way, way more expensive, and not as much in-game value for the price as I would've thought. But I honestly don't spend much time with free to play games. I like the style of this one and DE's previous work.

Play it with your friends while talking about life.
Exactly. These kinds of games (fun but you develop a rhythm and they become more casual and social, punctuated by oh-shit moments) are like a modern gamer equivalent of golf, if golf was a good time ;P

Just catching up with your buddies online and blowing stuff up for pure enjoyment and in-game profit.

Game is fun as hell. So glad Sony is embracing F2P games like War Thunder/Blacklight/Warframe so much on the PS4. It will do great things for the console.

I got some bundle awhile ago during a steam sale and ended up not really digging into the game. What should I buy with the platinum I have before the transfer?

playing it now on PC. 500+ hours. Grind but fun. Tons to do, collect and for different playstyle. Can't wait for update 11 that this teaser is for

Was planning on trying this out, so I'll have to preorder it (as bizarre as that is with F2P) tonight when I turn on my PS3. I haven't been on in a bit. Can you preorder other PS4 indie stuff that will be there on day one?

I like some of the dynamic elements.

I started one mission solo to find and retrieve a prisoner, but as soon as I got one tunnel into the enemy ship I got a mission update: "Change of plans. Your orders are to exterminate everybody on the ship".

Roger that.

Yeah, I ended up enjoying Warframe way, way more than I expected on the PC. I'm very curious how it's going to translate to a controller vs mouse+keyboard, I suppose with some aim assist it'll work but the movement is so fast and fluid that I can't imagine controller-based aiming being able to keep up.

Still, whatever, it's free. And you can actually have a pretty good time without sinking a cent into the game, if you're patient and farm the right levels for blueprint pieces. Me, i'm lazy, so I made a one-time purchase when a random discount on game currency came up, and used that to just straight up buy the frame I really wanted to play as (Vauban).

ohh, you can play that with a sword? I thought it was just a shooter.

Now i'm interested, how is swordsplay? Can i play with a sword only, or must i use guns most of the time?

Swordplay is the main draw really. The movement is great. You can do sprint attacks, somersault slashes, knee slide slashes, charged attacks. And this is just me recalling from the first few months, so they could have added more moves.

you always have one melee, one "big" gun (assault rifle, shotgun, bow etc.) and one small gun (pistol, throwing knives..)

melee is not always swords there are poles, axes, boomerang thingies, but yes also big swords, little swords, ninja swords, western swords, flaming swords, electric swords, dual swords and so on.

Great! Now I'm looking really forward to it after ignoring it for the PC. (i really thought this was just a shooter)

And mostly PvE? Exactly what i want.

You can really mix it up. Not sure how viable it is to focus purely on the swords, as its not the right tool for every situation. But if you get the moves down - flips, sprints, wall running, slides, etc. you can put them to great use. And it can feel damn good.

There's also a whole system for leveling weapons and collecting resources and abilities to slot and stack into your armor. Not sure exactly how crafting works as I never had the right drops and didn't play for long, but there seems to be a solid amount of depth in those other systems as well.

ALL PvE as far as I know, and solo-able or co-op with friends and/or matchmaking.

Can someone familiar with the game tell me how the in-game purchases get u. I heard u really don't need them to enjoy this but I hate grinding.

I like that

Very nice, went ahead and preordered for some free stuff. Good move by them to get some more attention for the game.

Great, thanks guys! I really didn't plan to play this game, and i looked in this thread more by accident than actual interest, but now Im really looking forward to it.

I will try to use melee weapons as much as i can, and it's also great that i'am able to solo parts of the game.

This game is very addicting, some people might tailor off at the end game stuff. However, the game is really fun so I recommend it. I think the addition of the story mode for PS4 is a smart move by devs, allows them to streamline the console audience to different aspects of the game.

Basically if you want new guns, weapons, or frames (i.e. characters), you need to get the blueprints to make them (which tend to drop off bosses or special timed events that pop up now and then), and then get the appropriate "raw materials" to build the blueprint. Or you can "shortcut" the process and just buy the weapon outright (or just buy the blueprints if you want a half-shortcut). Skills and powers drop naturally. There's no "game-timer" / "you've played 5 times in the last hour, come back later!" BS or straight up "pay to unlock levels" or anything like that. Cash just shortcuts the route to acquire weapons and frames (and cosmetic stuff like alternate helmets etc)

Also, for those who've never played it, but are more familiar with console games, the best way I can explain the game is Mass Effect 3's multiplayer on crack... so everything moves 3X as fast, you have crazy freedom of movement (wallrunning, flipping, sliding, etc), the character designs are hilariously bizarre in a strange yet cool way, and instead just a glorified horde mode there's about 5 or 6 different mission types. Plus there is a very large amount of variety between frames; some focus on area control, some are up-close melee monsters, some are stealthy strikers, others are energy manipulators, etc. There's definitely enough frame variety that you can find one to suit your playstyle.

Have Digital Extremes changed much in regards to the prices you pay for things/the time it takes to unlock new things ?

I remember it being surprisingly expensive months ago when I last played. However that WAS months ago and things could have changed. The game itself was really fun though, looking forward to playing it on PS4.

I didn't know much about the game until recently and just went looking for some more info and stumbled into the Warframe section on their website

The preview videos for each Warframe showcase some really impressive art design and variety in abilities. Anyone with even a passing interest should give it a look

I appreciate the info. Is there already an OT? If not who's making 1

just to expand, there are a couple of things you can only acquire by purchasing. they are slots in your inventory for weapons, and slots to hold warframes. i think you start with maybe 1 empty wf slot (+1 filled with whatever frame you picked at the start) and iirc three filled weapon slots and one empty.

slots are cheap but yeah only unlocked via purchase. you can always sell weapons/frames you no longer want to free up slots.

you can also spend money to speed up crafting. since crafting takes real time, crafting a new frame takes 12 hours per component (3 components, can craft concurrently) plus 72 hours to build the final frame. so if you have everything ready to go you can build a frame in 3 1/2 days, or you can spend to have it built immediately.

Warframe has the potential to become a Mass Effect type franchise if they can translate it into a proper single player experience. The lore is pretty interesting, it's just too bad you only see it in text and cinematics.

What i want is more Mass effect 3 Multi player, is this for me?

Basically. Me3 was only defense. Here you have the same sort of wave based defense where you protect a pod (either endless where you can exit every 5 waves with ever leveling mobs) or reverse defense (hold 10, 15 or 20 waves) and finally mobile defense where there is several point to defend one after another in the map for a given timer (1 to 4 minutes usually)

There is also more modes where you go through a level take data pack and run to extraction. The entire concept is to drop a 4 players party in a randomly generated level and make them do a task then exit and this is what ME3 didn't have : level progression and traversal and exploration. Sabotage, survival (fight against life support depleting, killin enemies for oxygen or die suffocating before extraction) spy, assassination of bosses...

There is tons of war frames that will remind you Mass effect like Mag with Pull abilities or Nova like biotics combos.

i stopped playing when the newest weapons were an axe and a hammer
how's the game since then?

The game has improved a lot since then.

If you're getting a PS4 on launch, I recommend you pre-order it (it's free) on the PS Store so you get bonuses when you play it.

If you're not getting a PS4 anytime soon, then replay it on PC.
