Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 2 multiplayer beta

Really enjoyed what I played today.

Will play more after my after I finish work (Online games) but can someone help me with this.


I have a USB headset I want to use for the voice channel only (sound through my PC Speakers). How do I set it up (in vista? Steam? or GFW Live?)?

At the mo the game is using my mic built into my laptop and the laptop speakers for everything.
 
Downloaded this on a whim, have never played this series. Got my ass handed to me too, naturally.

I like it. Despite my shortcoming, it was fun. Really fun, I definitly want to understand this abit more. I didn't touch the graphic setting and it runs like a charm. Funny enough other players were causing lag or whatever reason, happy it wasn't me.

Any UK gaffers out there willing to show me the ropes?

I would imagine you would plug it in and then set it up in Vista's sound settings, my old USB one used to just take over on XP.

its a Logitec USB headset. I plug it and and Vista detects it, I go into the sound settings switch it as default mic and the game still decides to use my laptop mic. No idea at all where the voice channel output will end up.
 
Dani and Gowans007 whats your Steam ID's, I'm looking to play Noobs and newcomers. I pld MicVlad and got annihilated.

I should be on shortly, just installing my mic too, I can use the 360 headset plugged into the controller if I have the wifi pc thing, right?

Haha, no expecting to use the controller, just the mic functions.
 
Played a pretty great annihilation game that lasted an hour. It was fairly even for a little but we eventually pulled out with the win. We had all the resources on the desert map but their bases were still holding for a good while.
 
just had a amazing team game with people with voice chat.

Steam said I got your invite, I looked in my friends list and it's not there. I sent you an invite too so I have no clue what's going on. I was able to add you on GFW though.
 
I really enjoy playing this game... but I will not be purchasing it unless they fix the lag dropout shit.
 
don't forget, theres an official neogaf ventrilo server now. infinitely superior to that muffled clusterfuck of the voice chat app. built into the game.

I played a match with my brother and he said he can hear all my sounds. I have no mic plugged in so I don't get where he gets that from? I had to mute my mic @ GFW but I don't think that is an end solution. please help.

probably easier than a experiened DOW vet playing DoW2. I use way less DoW skills (which are mostly now obselete, really the things that help me the best is the fact that I understand what units do what in a general sense by name) than I do CoH skills when playing.

So far the beta hasn't grabbed me, but I haven't done 3v3s yet and that seems to be where the game shines the best. Not really liking it too much right now as a 1v1 game.
 
my god its a total fart on to get a private game going with friends without being able to reserve a space

In steam, then find there tag, then send inv etc all while booting people.

Had a good game going till a random lagged it out.


MS increase the live friends limit from 100 for god sake too.

Got it, Mic was set to "what you hear" in the voices menu :lol
 
Managed to get a game going after all the lagging.

Awesome. I got my ass handed to me, but still enjoyed it.

Thanks for putting up with Gowans and everyone. :lol

Definitely be on again, maybe tonight.

I guess I'm abit overwhelmed, never been a huge rts fan. A lot to take in.
 
I got my performance to improve a bit, and I have to say it's so fun I can't not buy it even with all the problems.

Ork Rok bombardment on a gaggle of enemy units is better than sex, even if it makes the the game grind to a halt for 5 minutes to resolve 10 seconds of action.
 
I just had some a whole bunch of random games, with and against strangers.

Holy crapola, this game is really a lot of fun. I had some genuine Laugh Out Loud moments.

Seeing an Ork Dreadnaught stomp after some fleeing spacemarines made me squeel with delight :D

Awesome stuff, hope I manage to catch up with some gaffers.

People please follow this mans advice, the voice quality is simply awful with GFW Live.
 
love the beta

just read that you can only do space marines in campaign? that true? if so im pretty mad, orcs are my favorite classes
 
Had some epic 3v3 games with some gaffers this evening, so much fun.

Ended on a crash tho but I can't wait for the full game.

Wish more people had mics and it was easier to invite people in but hey it's a beta.

Think we'll have a save film of our most epic match posted soon ;)
 
Good matches today though we really could've used Gowans in that last match. I have no clue what the computer was doing...it had tons of resources but virtually no units. We were sooooo close. Ugh. We'll have to have a rematch.
 
I was really starting to get into this, its actually great, then the right button on my mouse broke! Ah well, the old boy has server me well, and I finnaly have an excuse to get a wireless one...

Hey all just grabbed this off steam as it looked pretty awesome. Unfortunately I've never played the series before and honestly haven't touched an RTS since probably starcraft...oh wait played homeworld 1 when it first came out...either way it's been a looooooooong time. If anyone is willing to show me the ropes a bit or just put up with my noobness in general feel free to add me.

I will be on Dawn of War 2 quite a lot this weekend, and gagging for some Gaf-matches.

Although I won quite a few 3vs3 matches yesterday, I am still 'in touch' with my inner noob, and it would be awesome if some more noobs could do a 3vs3 brouhaha.

I have added Dani, Gazerk, Gowans007, Gamerecks, Zeroedge, Jasonng, Chris Remo and Fallengorn to the friendlists, AND signed up for the Ventrillo server.

I was yesterday evening, hopefully will do again tonight. Thinking about a new tag just for this games multi, my 360 Friends List is FULL

EDIT: Holy Shit! According to steam 8.5 Hours after work yesterday, no wonder I'm tired this morning.
 
Yeah, I'm down for some games. Played my first game last night, pretty fun.

Not bothering to post my Live nick because I hate that I had to change it and also because I think my friends list is full and I don't feel like going through and deleting people.


I have some weird issues, though. Probably because I'm on Windows 7 beta 64-bit. Each time I try to change my graphics settings, game pops out to the desktop and never recovers. Luckily, the default settings seem fine, but all my commands seem lagged. Just strange.

I'll be on about 10ish I imagine, want to get some Skate time in after I get home about 7/8 ish.
 
Well just had some amazing 1v1s and 2v2 and 3 GAFers v Randoms matches.

Had some real to and fro games but in the last one we managed to kill the other teams momentum they were building. they had a war god at my based, I upgraded to level three just in time to launch a Rok strick on it and take it down. SO GOOD!
