Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide Beta discussion thread

Any game like this with loot immediately interests me. I would love to have varied armor sets and weapons that visually differentiated you from other players at a glance. I'm tempted to buy right now.

There's definitely variations of weapons with different rolls for special stats on weapons. As far as armor there's different helmets (cosmetic only I believe) but no actual armor as of now.
 
I don't know if I'd buy in based on the loot system. It's very random and grindy right now. It's one of the more obvious faults with the game and a frequent complaint.

It's a weird thing to screw up on if you ask me, the loot grind mechanic would've been a great hook if done well.
 
I'm loving the game so far, but getting shafted after a normal run with 2 loot die + 3 tome + 2 grimlores and getting a shitty green out of it kinda sucked honestly. I should be thankful that I have a solid group of people to play with as well. Everyone voice chats and communicates on every single important detail.

But god dammit...fuck wizards tower on hard with 2 grimlores.
 
From the Fatshark stream it looks like they're adding simple questlines too.

Kill X enemies on Y map, do certain things on specific maps.

I am amazed we have not seen a review thread for this game yet! There are a few reviews the publisher are posting on the twitter

The development seemed super low key from the getgo. I don't even know if the devs made full clients available to reviewers before today. They had streams going a where they were still making serious adjustments on the game just last week.

I am thinking they made builds available recently, I also imagine it is a title that not all outlets will cover. Still, would be nice to see someone collect what is out there so far.

Definitely, feels like it's really flying under everyone's radar but all the people who have played it seemed to be talking up a storm about it from what I've seen. Really just came out of left field though with this one.

Exactly which is why I think it's so important to get the word out. I'm probably going to make the OT tonight if it's not already up. This game deserves the attention. Best co-op game I've played in a long time.
 
Have they said anything about adding new playable classes and races down the road?

Yes, they plan on adding more of everything. Said they wanna alternate between free dlc and paid dlc but will make sure any paid dlc won't split the userbase. First dlc will likely be free.

So I imagine maps will be free and they'll charge for new characters/cosmetics.
 
I've gotten 2 hard-locks in 20 mins of playing this, requiring full reboots. GTX 980Ti/16gb ram/i7-4770k playing off an SSD. It needs some patching. CTD's are annoying, hard-locks are fucking terrible. Not a very good first impression at all.

Yeah, the loot system leaves a lot to be desired. Hate crossbows and never play the Imperial? GUESS WHAT YOU GET FROM EVERY SINGLE RUN YOU DIRTY MAGE PICKER.

Also, I'm not enjoying the arena levels much. They give nice visual variety but having 8 stormvermin stop your grain sack grab on normal is a bit much - there really seems to be little strategy to fighting the special enemies other than keeping distance. No nuance to the melee outside of the counters which become a shit-show against multiple foes.

I think I'm getting burnt out already - shame.
 
I think at this point a Lizardman class is far more likely... they're always fighting the Skaven and lean towards the 'Neutral' side of things.

I cave and got the game im liking it but man they really need to fix some of the bugs, crashed twice now and some of the events simply don't end. Black Powder level you get the 8 Barrels get on the ship..then nothing.
In any case steam name is KangarooBeard if anyone wants to add me we should get a GAF group going.

They didn't. I have been following it and working with the devs on coverage for 2 years and still same moment as everyone else went live. But its been covered in tons of outlets and actually has had a good deal of promotion for a medium sized title. Its just not for everyone including reviewers who are going to have to be GOOD to review it and I know after talking to some folks that many reviewers were having a tough time even completing any of the levels.
 
The last level of this game is quite possibly the worst difficulty spike of any video game ever.

I'm really starting to hate the loot system.

Yup - I'm getting tired of the game already because I only play two classes and all my good drops are for the other three. And only the wizard seems to have any real massive differences on a weapon to weapon basis.

Eh, the combat is way less complex than I had hoped. Game looks great and feels good but, after about a dozen hours or so, I think I'm done.
 
I just found out about this game. L4D in the Warhammer universe sounds fun, but then again my favorite part of L4D is the versus mode.

I guess I'm just worried about the possible lack of depth or replay.
 
I feel the game is limited at the moment, but I believe Fatshark will put a lot in developing it with the reception and sales they have received.

I look at a similar title like Chivalry and where it was when first released and now after 3 years and great sales, its almost a new game... hopefully the same happen here with more classes, weapons, enemies and in depth loot system.
 
Holy shit. My team died during the barrel section on the horn mission. I got through alone, on nightmare and killed a rat ogre single handedly and revived them all. I used the Ogre's AOE to kill small adds lol.
 
Any word on when the PS4 version comes out? or should I just go for PC?

(Also how are specs? If I can run L4D will i be able to run this?)

Secondary weapon could be the skink blowdarts and give me spears and clubs/swords w/shields for primaries.


Though, considering this is set in the end times there might not be any Lizardmen left.
 
Geez, this game with randoms is just a really harsh experience.
I'm like lvl 3 cause all missions i join get failed eventually cause people just fuck up,don't let someone with a shield tank and enver help each other.

Gotte play this with friends to get actual progress out of it.

Sit up on the floor above the far back left spell area(as you walk in the door), they all just jump up there for you to slaughter
 
Is there any reward for taking on Stormvermin patrols? I normally just let them walk past us and move on.

It's a neat little mechanic to change the pace of the game now and then.
 
You know someone else might as well do the OT considering whoever claimed it has not put anything up.

Game is pretty good, tested it out on the shoddy rig. Should run well on the new one. Considering this system is about 6 years old.

Most def this is something to be played with friends though. As can really see randoms fucking things up. That and the AI does have freakouts at times which causes them to get messed up with pathing / advancing in certain sections for whatever reason.

Level design(most of them)
AI is "pretty good" Better than most but not a human
Characters weaponry and interaction/Hit Detection differences
Performance(for what its doing)

Cons
Level Design on 2 levels was bad. Lots of bugs AI mistakes
Loot system is a wash

Honestly as I say in the review this is the most fun I have had in a action game, and maybe any game, in 1-2 years. It is absolutely rock solid as a title.
 
He claimed it before the game had an official release. So my assumption is he forgot, or simply got busy and didn't let anyone know. I struggled with not making this last night, but I didn't want to make it, then have it go to waste.

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide by Lord of Castamere (30th June 2015)

Release is Q3 2015. No specific date yet, but a beta is set to begin soon and they are giving periodic dev diary updates.

So whoever wanted to do the OT now is weapons free basically. (Aztechnology this means you.) lol
 
This is interesting as the game isn't well optimized.

Ya its been awesome and thats why it says "performance for what its doing". I expected far worse.
Getting 60 fps almost constant with a 980gtx. Which that many characters and such I am VERY happy with that. I of course did the changes that they noted. I can't remember which ones had the warning originally, but there are 2-3 that set to extreme and when they get set to high you get back like 20-30 frames. Also max shadow allowed casting lights is half as its bugged on extreme(maxed to the right). So I guess that is either optimized or just downright shouldn't be an option right now lol .Still get the occasional drop but for what its doing. Man very happy.

EDIT: I am doing a tech video in the next couple days once I get all my notes in order because changing some nvidia settings concerning monitor performance(single performance) adjusted that as well if I remember my benchmarks correctly.
 
On a combo of extreme and high settings I get constant 60fps and drops to around 50 on big hordes. Going to turn down some other settings as I want a stable 60.

I get 60fps when i'm indoors or there isn't a lot of action going on but during swarms I drop down into the 40s and even the 30s in rarer instances. This is on medium settings.

GTX 970 / 3570k OC'd @ 4.2 / 8gb ram / 1080p

Definitely looking forward to some performance patches cause I should be crushing this game even on max settings.

Ouch, I'm on Extreme with a 970, 4670k 4.6ghz OC. I get 60, with rare drops to 30-40 when in huge swarms. But average around 50 GPU OC at +165 GPU, +290 memory
