Warner Bros. in Talks to Acquire Entire WWE Library

This was unexpected.

Until anybody reputable reports this, I put this in the same place as the AMC buying WWE rumors.

From reading another article or two, what this sounds like is dropping the internal home video department and outsourcing it to another company since the network and Netflix options are all but killing the home video market. It'd be similar to the video games where another company handles it all and they receive a license fee out of it.

This would be insane.

90% of the reason I'm looking forward to wwe network is my assumption mid-south will eventually be released on it.

Without the library the network just isn't worth it to me, the current product is mediocre.

Warner Bros. buying the library doesn't necessarily mean the Network would go away though. I mean, it could, but it could also just mean the backlog is removed and it's just the PPV's from now. It could also mean WB getting income from the Network while WWE continues to use it for live streams, NXT, and the like.

I mean, after all, WB also has a streaming service for Classic movies and the like: http://instant.warnerarchive.com/

It's not like they're unwilling or unfamiliar with running a startup streaming service.

According to a few sources close to the situation, the story in Thewrap.com regarding WWE selling its entire library of 150,000 hours of content to Warner Brothers is not true.

What is in play is a deal between Cinedigm and Warner Brothers for the home video distribution rights to the entire WWE library.

Watch when this is a big $9.99 commercial.

"Warner Bros. just acquired the entire WWE Library, and so can you! For just $9.99."

If this happens, it sends the signal that WWE and Vince McMahon have little to no hope for the Network for the long haul, and anyone who looked at the numbers knows why.

WWE was around in the 50's?

Probably in some weird way.

Technically I think it what we know as the WWE was started as a new company once current current Vince took over and started Titan Sports in the 80's but I think the McMahons have been doing wrestling since Vince's gramdpa.
