Warzone Is Leaving Xbox One and PS4 This Year
It has been confirmed that Call of Duty Warzone will stop supporting last-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One, this year.
Players have been informed that starting with the new installment, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, the series will stop supporting last-gen consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Now, it seems their battle royale offering will follow the same path, shutting down support in phases.
Warzone Won't Be Playable on PS4 and Xbox One from MW4 Season 1
A new blog post by Call of Duty provides players with a platform update for Warzone, revealing that support for last-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One, will stop from this year. The support will end in phases. The first phase will arrive on June 4, when the game will not be available for new downloads on platforms; however, existing players can continue playing on last-gen consoles until MW4 Season 1.
The next phase will begin on June 25, when the in-game store for Warzone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be removed. However, players will have the option to progress through the free Battle Pass tiers to unlock weapons for BO7 seasons.
Then, when MW4 Season 1 launches, shortly after the October 23 release of Modern Warfare 4, Warzone will no longer be playable on PS4 and Xbox. The battle royale game will go on to "integrate Modern Warfare 4 content and seasonal progression as part of a connected experience between both titles."
