Washington Post: Breitbart News to become a de facto "state run medium"?

Where does Breitbart end and Bannon and the new administration begin?

Trump’s election has transformed Breitbart from a scrappy, even scabrous outsider — the scourge of what Bannon and (editor in chief) Alexander Marlow contemptuously refer to as “the establishment” — into the ultimate insider and defender of the status quo.

Neither Steve Bannon nor staff members at Breitbart have spelled out what their relationship will be after candidate Trump becomes President Trump. But even if Bannon and the website sever all ties, they will face an unusual, and awkward, situation: Bannon would be the former executive of a media organization that openly supported his political patron who will serve the president in a senior capacity while his media organization continues to cover him and his new boss.

“Breitbart will now go from being the propaganda arm of the Trump campaign to effectively becoming a state-run medium,” said Kurt Bardella, Breitbart’s former spokesman. “They will exist to tell the narrative of the Trump presidency to their audience to ensure their alternate reality they successfully ran on stays intact regardless of the situational reality and condition of this country. There is no separation between Breitbart and the Trump White House.”

Last month, it reported that it had reached a new high-water mark for online traffic with 37 million unique visitors, a count that rivals such mainstream news sites as ABCNews.com and CBSNews.com and exceeds LATimes.com. It has also announced plans to expand to sites in Germany and France, adding to its existing international operations in Great Britain and Israel.

Bannon, Milo Yiannopoulos and his coworkers at Breitbart are on the verge of turning the Stormfront of journalism into an international media heavyweight, fomenting racist nationalist movements far and wide.
This is disturbing, folks. Breitbart contains the kind of content that creates Dylan Roofs & theyve now received a massive stimulus package from Bannon's ascendancy to the White House.

Enjoy folks. KKK and everyone going on a major recruitment drive next 4 years. Cant wait for the official buildings to be erected with Nazi symbols on the side, and no not the spray painted kind. And the media is already letting this happen. CNN and all the other bullshit news sources always have to have some stupid jackass on there as some counter-balance to say what a nice guy he is.

back before election day I said that I didn't think TrumpTV was a "backup plan" but just a plan; it would essentially work as the start of state-run media if he won, and a possible business plan if he lost

he's still getting his wish, I think

I still can't believe Bannon is in the inner circle of the whitehouse. He'll be privy to all the deep secrets and provide counsel...

I'm not even American and i'm fucking pissed.

I wish the news media were a little more explicit in calling Breibart the white supremacist and misogynist site that it is. Saying it has "ties to the alt right" and then mentioning white nationalism in passing isn't nearly enough.

Slate, at least, is an exception. Good for them:

Slate said:
Breitbart is a far-right news site that traffics in racism, anti-Semitism, and anti-immigrant hysteria. Typical Breitbart headlines are inflammatory, feeding fears of black criminals and Muslim refugees. “Europe’s Rape Epidemic: Western Women Will Be Sacrificed at the Altar of Mass Migration,” reads one Breitbart story, tweeted by Donald Trump Jr. in September.

But Breitbart is more than a clearinghouse for racist propaganda. It’s also a forum and community space for neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and anti-Semites, all under the sanitized banner of the “alt-right.”
If Shapiro’s allegation is true—if Breitbart’s content reflects the character of its leadership—then Stephen Bannon is substantively indistinguishable from David Duke and other white supremacists. For all practical purposes, he is one of them.

How close is Milo Yiannopoulos to a cabinet position? Holy fucking shit that I even have to ask that.
He's British, so hopefully pretty far. But who the fuck knows anymore...

Who did Fox News have sitting in a senior position in the Bush administration?
No one directly, but Roger Ailes was largely responsible for selling the Iraq war to the public and the Switfboating of Kerry, in a way he colluded with the Bush administration there.

The logical conclusion of the "All opinions are of equal value and should be heard mentality" America loves to brag about.

This country is moving back right at a brisk pace. Now we can longer say baby boomers fucked things up for Millennials, because Millennials have fucked things up for the next generation.

We're the new baby-boomers

It's going to be up to other media outlets to counter Brietbart news, then.

I'm not optimistic about that at all.
The issue is the fact the admin will be able to control information and likely sources. What's real? What's fake/exaggerated? Someone posted an article earlier taking about how the US media already isn't prepared for this and have fallen victim of that in other situations like Vietnam.

This is incredibly dangerous because the public can't properly get information and hold officials accountable as needed.

This country is under threat.

Who did Fox News have sitting in a senior position in the Bush administration?

No one, but undetectable media bias is worse than detectable. I don't know spacifics anymore, because its been a long time, but I remember there was a lot of communication in terms of talking points and such between Fox and Bush white house.

someone should watch a 3rd reich docu, the start of it is something. Remember Germany was one hell of a great democracy before that shit started,

How does someone like Brannon get a security clearance? Do the president's orders control? I guess he is the president

Yes we are.

Think about how Milo's going to have access to the White House and shit.

The king of gamergate in the halls of power.

Technically, he should be forced to undergo rigorous vetting by federal investigators who will comb through every part of his past (residences, associations, occupations, etc.) and interview individuals every step of the way to establish his character and any potential associations with dangerous actors.

This should take maybe five minutes before they hit someone flagged as a domestic terrorist and then they should deny him clearance.

In reality: they probably just jerk off into a trash can and then throw a signed document to him, because fuck it, we've all apparently given up on being serious about having a country.

I wonder how Fox News will handle this. They've been the defacto conservative news outlet (other than Rush). Now that they have real competition that has their guy in the White House I wonder if they play nice.

It's all good when they both united behind the common goal of getting the RNC candidate into office. Now that it's been accomplished will they continue to coexist peacefully? Eyes and Ears can't focus on both Breitbart and Fox News. Breitbart being the upstart might not care, but Fox News won't want to lose viewership.

Wait, Breitbart is anti-semitic? But isn't Milo Jewish?

Serious question, never directly went to the site. I knew it was a cesspool of hatred, but not one that extended to its staff.
