Watch Dogs 2 - Gameplay commented walkthrough (20 min)

Looks good imo. Glad he touched on the driving. I hated it in WD1. The framerate is really rough but I'm sure they'll fix it up for launch.

Chess, bouncing on giant flowers and running over demons.

Those were prett fun actually and I'm sad they aren't returning.

And GTA V didn't need all that stuff Watch Dogs has to have a fun open-world. Dicking around is way more fun due to the physics on the vehicles and npcs. And then there's GTA Online which had loads of different modes to play

wow......looks amazing. This jump is still giving me AC1 to AC2 vibes in terms of gameplay, and stuff.

Cannot wait for this game.

Basically the rest of the year for me is NBA, Forza, Watch Dogs and FFXV

Not really interested in any of the gameplay mechanics they're showing off so far, but I can't shake the desire to explore an open world digital facsimile of San Francisco for the first time.

Looks alright.

One thing though, how is the Online Bounty mode not stacked against the pursued player? :P
3v1, all have access to hacking tools etc. The lone player doesn't seem to get much extras to fend off his chasers.

That little robot jumper is hilarious with its taunts

I like that you can take care of things like door unlocks without having to stealth. In watch dogs 1, I would often try to be stealthy but get detected and then just flooded by enemies I avoided, therefore meaning it was just easier to go full combat route from the beginning and shoot everybody

Its cool they said you dont have to kill anyone in the game

I really liked Watch Dogs 1, the only reason the game is hated because of Ubisoft's obnoxious marketing, from the deceptive demos to the arrogant slogans (I remember "done with Los Santos, come to Chicago").

Hell, I sometimes wish Ubisoft hadn't promoted it. It would've most certainly been loved like Saints Row, True Crime and Sleeping Dogs in the underrated, GTA-clone sort of way.

OT: I miss the dreariness of the original WD, a total 180 shift in tone.

So?

Because suddenly you can fix every framerate drop in the last week?

Because no other game had framerate drops in the release date?

Because no games have framerate problems even after years of patching?

Framerate is the king of the interaction between your real world actions and the virtual world representation. It should be the basis on which any game is built. It's not something you can "fix" in the last crounchy days.
You realize that this is a really old build right? Considering how optimized the first WD was performance is not something people should be worrying too much about.

Like what?

Gang hideouts, tower climbing, hacking into people's webcams, playing Judge Dredd by executing people for robberies, do races, stop convoys, those "hack four boxes within the time limit" challenges, minigames like playing Mario or "space invaders" or spidertank.

They might not all be that fun or interesting, but there's a lot to do.

I just want to go in and drive to Noe Valley and see if my apt building is there, or even my street. From the minimap it looks like this world is ~1/6 the scale of IRL SF. I'd be surprised if they left out church st. or dolores park tho.

This game looks so good. I'm really looking forward to this. The car hacking reminds me of hacking cars in Saints Row 4.

I really hope there are a ton of approaches to missions, to make it feel like you did it your way. I really hated the way GTA went away from doing missions your way in favor of cinematic set pieces, especially GTA4 in which I couldn't use my own vehicles for anything it seemed. With Watchdogs 1 in mind, I am confident we'll have freedom to do the missions how we want. I loved WD1's gameplay, the bugs and the boring setting are the only problems I had with it.

They say it's alpha build at the beginning.

I mean, at least wait for the game to come out if you want to criticise the developers like that.
Ya but its Ubisoft, that's why the criticism from people. But seriously the game has 2 1/2 months till release. We can at least wait until it launches before complaining about frame rate lol. I for one am pumped for this game and can't wait .

Feedback before a game is done is always good unless it's pretty much pointless trolling. Ubisoft sux so this game will suck for example.

Wow the color at the 18:10ish minute mark.

From that video it looks like it. You have the drone and the robot vehicle which both let you interact with the world while doing so outside harms way. Then it looks like you can hack every single person and vehicle as well. Vehicle hacking alone looks fun, like running over enemies or getting a getaway vehicle while safe in cover.

Hopefully the campaign allows these choices versus being locked into linear corridor battles or similar.

Why does every game need an alternative vision mode? You have to constantly turn it on/off/on/off... or just run around with it and miss all the pretty graphics.
Yea. Instant turn-off. I just closed the video right there. "See the world as a hacker", lmao.

I really like that it looks like the quadcopter has unlimited battery. It's almost like a builtin noclip mode.

I wonder if you get bonuses for going non-lethal and what things will count as lethal or not. Like if marking a target as a traitor will be considered a player caused death or something.

This is actually slowly becoming my most anticipated title of the holiday season.
Was there any known issues with the PC version of the first game?
When it was released my gaming PC at the time was very old so I did not even consider games for it.
Now I finally have a good gaming PC so I am no doubt leaning towards the PC version for this game, but if it is just perceived as a quick port and not a good PC game, I will perhaps lean towards the PS4 version for couch comfort.

I'm sure you can choose not to use the vision. Maybe someone will ask a developer if it's needed in certain missions. It's just a easy way games could convey the way skilled people know what to look for. Though they already have the wire lines and such, and Batman's press R1 to do this, so hopefully for people that hate visions it's optional.

Yo what's the track ID of the beat on the car radio at 12:54? That sounds awesome.

I love everything about this. They took all the good parts of the first game and dialed it up to 11.

1000% in.

I think this might actually be a stealth hit. They seem to be striving to improve on most of the complaints that people generally had with the first game.

I still hope that in being part of Deadsec, you can kill Aiden Pearce.

For those interested in the PC version, GMG has this for 20% off and gives a code for UPlay. If you dont see that discount you have to sign in.

Why? Rockstar makes better open-world maps than Ubisoft. The one in Watch Dogs 2 looks great but we don't know if it will actually hold up to scrutiny yet.

Good point. It's probably more the idea of San Fransisco itself, given how unique the geography is.

I think you must of forgotten how well the first game did lol. This will have no problem being a hit.

I'm super excited for this and will patiently await PC footage (plus hardware requirements).

This looks like a lot of fun.

The terrible part of me wished this entire map would be for a GTA game instead of a Ubisoft AAA title.
At least what we're seeing so far seems more of an earnest look than Watch_Dogs 1's first reveal.

To be fair, I feel WD has far better controls and more emergent gamelay than GTA.

Completely agree, but I also love the intimacy of GTA V far more than Watch_Dogs, and I spent a lot of time playing both; Rockstar has a lot more attention to detail that really immerses you, whereas Activision follows a checklist style that doesn't have as many unique "wow" moments.

I can see where he's coming from.

Looks OK. I want to be excited for it, but Mafia 3 looks so much more appealing in terms of open world later this year goes.

This looks quite promising to be honest. Something tells me some of this missions will get repetitive but i'm actually kinda excited about it.

Although the UI that shows how many followers you have is god damn cringe worth. Middle finger icon, comic book looking dialog boxes and retro game sounds. Yup that's exactly what hackers like. And they love gaining followers. Ugh.
