Watch Dogs is a solid 5 out of 10 game for me

i already knew you had an unnatural love for that game but you bought both the pc and ps4 version of wolf?

I had already finished the game on PC, just wanted to put it next to my new PS4 copy to show the love :P Also, double the goodies in there (some awesome postcards, a Wolfie wallet that I'm using,) so if one ever gets lost, not a problem.

I still have to try Wolf TNO but I would've surely preferred that instead of WD. I thought "well, an FPS against an open world game, the latter might keep me entertained more". Nope.

But-but 50 hours of content!

Looks like one should always wait a year before the 'real' opinion emerges about a game on GAF. I remember this game being the darling here for a while.

It's kind of always this way. You get a thread panning a game and then you get another lttp loving it. Sometimes it's hard to get a grasp on someone's taste/review barometer as they'll completely shit on something but then make goty posts about something that is similar in quality if you go by general consensus (not necessarily the same as gaf consensus). Then again "consensus" is hard to determine too.

Damn u opinionssssss

I'd give it something like that. Huge potential turned into little more than a mediocre third person shooter with basic stealth and a weak story. Aiden Pearce is hands down the worst videogame protagonist I've ever had the displeasure of playing. The world is as empty as it is vast. The whole game, with a few exceptions, strictly adheres to the Ubisoft formula of "viewpoints, crafting, open world, plethora of pointless side missions."

There were patches of good game in there but on the whole it's a totally average and soulless title.

I agree, though I'd go with a 3/5 scale. There's things I like quite a bit in Watch Dogs (stealth, camera puzzles, escaping cops, Chicago), things that didn't hold up (citizen surveillance, side missions, Chicago) and things I straight up didn't like (the tone, the soundtrack, the story, the characters, the clothes). Final impression ends up somewhere in the middle. Haven't finished it yet but still plan on doing so eventually. It's a promising 3/5, if that means anything.

Let's just hope Ubisoft can grow a beautiful game on top of Watch Dogs's first iteration, like what happened with Assassin's Creed,

Obviously Ubi is planned on making sequels to WD'S so I feel it needs to grow. I think many of the issues that are in the original (bad music choice, horrible horrible driving mechanics, convoluted story elements and some shallow characters) could go away on the next iteration.

Hopefully it will be the Assassins Creed 2 of it's series where it completely innovates and changes everything for the better. I mean think about it..who actually remembers AC 1.

I found the driving experience to be pretty offensive in terms of audio.
Absolutely horrible.

Watching Aiden's animations on motorcycles was equally disappointing.

Why would they?

Assassins creed gave them the template for every open-world game to come out of Ubisoft after the second one, why change now?

The only moment i had genuine fun in the game (which i still haven't finished nor touched in days) was with that Robot Spider trip thing.
So i guess that would make it a 1/10 by this logic.

Then again, scoring games with numbers doesn't have that much logic in the first place.

So tired of the driving being called out as bad, it's great. I've never felt more in control behind the wheel in an open world game. Maybe you guys just aren't any good at it.

I got this game on release for PS4 and i'm having a bad time with it. I still did not finish it and sometimes i have to force myself to play it or i will just drop it and throw my money away. Anybody not having fun at all like me on this one? I wouldnt even give a 5 on this.

it is a over hyped game that failed on delivering the hype. it is just an average game with usual ubisoft open world games elements all over it.

worst game? definitely it is not. 6.8/10 for me.

and some of those opinions are idiotic.

iro·ny - noun \ˈī-rə-nē also ˈī(-ə)r-nē\

1. the use of words that mean the opposite of what you really think especially in order to be funny

2. a situation that is strange or funny because things happen in a way that seems to be the opposite of what you expected

It didn't live up to my and most people's expectations. I rate it 6/10, but it's probably one of the best PS4 games out.

I forced myself to play through the game just so I could say I got my money's worth. IMO It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't very good. GTAv is leaps and bounds better.

With that said I can see Ubisoft expanding on the characters and universe. Watch dogs as a series isn't going away.

Playing this makes me want GTA V to come out tomorrow. The radio stations are fucking horrible, the multiplayer is horrible, the story is horrible. The only good things this game has is that the shooting mechanics are fun, it's a really cool concept, the gameplay isn't total dogshit and it's the only open-world game out.

But man, the multiplayer is so bad.

I've been enjoying the campaign (2/3rd into act 2). Some mission types have gotten a little tiresome but I'm overall having more than enough fun. Don't understand the hate. Its a solid, not GOTY mind you, title that I don't regret getting and look forward to the sequel.

Thanks to everyone on here for saving me $60 on the Wii U version. I was thinking of picking this up day 1 from GameStop or Target, but with these opinions, guess I'll be going to my guy at the flea market that "somehow" sells Wii U games day 1 for $20. [It's where I picked up Rayman Legends for $10 :) ]

I really liked it too, I just wish the balance of side missions was better, I find the fixer contracts really boring, don't see why they have 40 of them as I have no urge to complete any more than the 4/5 I have done already

If there's a guy at the flea market selling games on release day for $20 then he's stealing it or buying from someone stealing it off the truck.

Something tells me you would have bought it off the back of a truck anyway, regardless of opinions here.

Well, yea any developers that dick around and doesn't release a multiplat for Wii U the same day as the others, I'll go to the flea market to pick their games up. Now developers like Bandai Namco who do it right (i.e., One Piece: Unlimited World Red) I have no problem paying full price for. Play fair :)

Yeah let's not support one of the only big third party release for the Wii u. That will tell them!

As an open-world third-person shooter with a heavy focus on driving... I actually liked Watch Dogs more than GTAV. I know, I'm doing a double-take on myself too. GTAV is an all around better put together game, I think I just enjoyed the gameplay and narrative flow of Watch Dogs more.

I liked it enough. I can't say I was especially engrossed with the character's or the problem they're having, but I liked the missions and combat enough to keep me going.

Fucking last mission was the worst shit I've had to slog through so far this year though.

Yeah, they really messed that aspect up. Only 15 Gang Hideout's (which I loved), yet all the other's get at least 20.

5/10? Maybe a 6 or 7.
I felt like I bought into the hype.
It's by no means a bad game... I just lost interest after messing around in the city and making stupid videos for a few days. I don't even know if I have the will to continue the story.

I wouldn't say it's "great", but I honestly had no problems with the driving. I'm fairly perplexed that it's a dogging point for many, it's not like I'm especially good at driving games or anything lol.

Same, especially when in cockpit view, which is how I play driving games anyway. GTA seriously needs that feature.

I'm going to have a go at this over the next couple of days. Got it free with my new laptop. It was probably the only way I was going to get it. I thought about buying it a few time but just couldn't part with £50 notes for it for ps4.

Stopped playing after 5 hours, main character sucked and the story was awful.

In my universe Aiden realised he was a cancer on society about 2 missions in to Act 2 and went into a downward spiral after
getting his sister kidnapped.
.

A couple missions with Damien pulling the strings were all he needed to realise death was the only escape so he drank himself silly and threw himself from a bridge under construction in the middle of nowhere where his body was unlikely to be found for some time.

The game then got traded in.

I'll take off a point and give it a 4/10 simply because it came with my GTX 780 and it ran like complete balls on my new card. It's so sad it's almost funny

I agree the game I found to be repetitive and boring

I had thought it would be more stealth hacking
not shoot em ups and car chases

it did not need an open world
which generally is my favorite type of game

Yeah let's not support one of the only big third party release for the Wii u. That will tell them!

Lol, please...wasn't it Guillemot himself who said, "Ubisoft will make more games for Wii U when the console sells more units." So apparently no Assassin's Creed: Unity, no FarCry 4, no Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege, or The Crew or Tom Clancy's The Division because there aren't enough Wii U consoles sold.

The Crew, AC:U, Rainbow Six, and The Division are slated for release on the current gen consoles (save for the Wii U) even though Xbone is estimated to have around 5 million units worldwide vs. the Wii U's 7 million. So why are these titles not being made for the Wii U?

And if you would think to cite the fact that their software sales have been abysmal on the Wii U, ultimately, someone else said it best, "You could argue that because of Ubisoft's sales numbers on the Wii U, Ubisoft are justified in their decision to not put out games for Wii U, but when you take into account that the games they have released on Wii U were post-poned, canceled, given less content, or neglected by them, the only people at fault here are themselves."

Ubisoft open world games seem to offer a ton of content but very little depth. I actually think they'd be better if they focused on making a solid 20 hour open world game instead of padding it with a ton of repetitive things and shooting for 60-80.

Then again if they did that you'd have people complaining it was too short ala second son.

Finally made it to the end. The story doesn't help the game and Aiden is just a blank slate, which some people like but not me. All in all i'd say 4.5 for this one, but if ubisoft can get a hint from the players, the sequel might be good.
