Watch_Dogs: PC High settings = NG Consoles

I doubt that the Ultra setting will be that much different. The gap between consoles and PC will stay at resolution, AA, AF and fps (my guess).

Plus Nvidia stuff like HBAO+, TXAA, and extra particles/physics effects like a lot of recent Ubisoft games.

Ultra is always just some really demanding AA and/or some other resource hog feature that doesn't really change the visuals that much. So its just a regular console port after all and not the "closer to the 2012 demo" miracle some folks were hoping for.

The PC master race is going to get real salty once they start realizing that their rigs are going to be playing games optimized for mid-range PCs (PS4 and Xbox One) for the coming years. Let the bottle necking begin.

BF4 was a launch game though...and their goal was to get conquest large at 60 fps.

Getting to the point I responded to, if you look at games that exist (ubisoft games included), the ultra setting looks better from an effects point of view than the high.

It is not just extra AA and resolution, which has nothing to do with most CVAR sliders.

I mentioned BF4 because it showed how ng console games are not pc ultra settings. And should never be expected to be, that would be technically impossible in games which focused on scaling to modern hardware.

I'm buying the PS4 version, but waiting for the price to drop. Hopefully Ubisoft can patch it up to 1080p like they did for AC4.

Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8 is Day One!

If consoles can run WD on high, then I should be able to comfortably with my i5-3570K/GTX660.

Right?

Yes thats a good point. Ng cant handle ultra. Bf4 could have looked a lot better on ps4 though if they had gone for 30 fps

Good. In a couple years we can buy cheaper 4k TV's and play the games targeted for barely 1080p consoles at the higher resolution.

Sweet, lets hope there 21:9 aspect ratio support.

There won't be.

Edit: I just sent a tweet to him, hopefully I'll get a response.

The majority of PC players aren't going to be running it <900p and <30fps if they can hit high

Each person's decision is immaterial to the point of reference that a developer is trying to make; Since whatever "High" means is a fixed set of graphical features, adding framerate and resolution to the statement would be quite silly.

I don't see how this is in any way controversial.

You do know you're going to eat your words eventually right? This is the same bullshit console gamers were spouting last gen. And 2 years in PC games already looked and ran much better.

3 years in, they featured hundreds of dynamic lights vs 2, thousands of particles vs none, 4 times the texture resolution, a ton of texture effects that were non-existant on consoles, AF, WAY better AA, WAY better LOD levels and no or little pop-in, millisecond load times, way better view distance (And FOV to boot), more AI, better pathfinding, more accurate physics, 1080p+ 60+ FPS, etc, etc.

I don't understand why you do this to yourselves. The PS4 is banging right now. No doubt about it. But this is a losing battle for you, so why even fight it?

Not to mention that I doubt the settings are truly all high. EA said the same thing about BF4 and that was a pack of lies. We'll see I guess.
