Watch_Dogs: PC High settings = NG Consoles

I said they're GOING to be salty. As in, when someone who spent $1000 on a gaming rig plays a game and its high settings look like what we've seen of Watch Dogs, he will be pissed because his computer can handle something that looks way better. You're acting like I shot your dog for saying that consumers would be mad that they're going to be sold products optimized for something far less capable than what they've paid for.

Your original post wasn't half as well put together as this. Which is why I took you for another console warrior stirring the pot of... ehm hate gruel :)

While I agree with you that this is sort of the case now (You're sitll probably playing games at 1440p 60 FPS and better graphics settings than a PS4, for sure at over a thousand bucks so it's not like they aren't getting SOMETHING out of their high end gaming PC's), it won't be forever.

Thats whole lot of excuses.

lol

I don't believe this. What excuses am I making exactly?

Developer says the game is equivalent to high settings.
PC gamers don't believe it and use a completely unrelated game as proof.

Who exactly is being unreasonable here?

This idea that I am somehow making excuses for a totally hypothetical argument where we presume the developer is lying and the game is really medium settings, is totally absurd.

Right. Because all PCs are the same and have 1000+ € components inside.

First of all, the PS4 version is = 900p and = 30 fps, not <. Second, how the hell would you know that?

Didn't take long for console warriors to start shitting up this thread.

what the creative designer left out.

there is also an ULTRA and UBER-ULTRA settings option for PC

teeheehee

i'll be running this game @ 2560x1440 at Max Detail.

ummm-no.gif
He should be able to run it perfectly fine. Ultra is the sticking point

The money you'd save over not having to ay for multiplayer and cheaper games would probably do better than even things out.

We don't care about that. People can do what they want to. He doesn't complain about it either.

God, we don't even care about what equivqlent PC settings we will have with our consoles. This doesn't mean anything. This isn't reliable value, nor we give a fuck up about that. I don't even have a desktop for myself in my apartment, what would I do with a fucking PC? Why some guys are always trying to explain to us that we should go PC, like if it was some Dreamcast to save from hell (just kidding)? We don't care. Leave us in peace.

Is Watch Dogs a game looking good? Not for me. If it's what PC will have at high settings with those crazy high requirements I saw, I mean WHAT THE HELL? PS4 definitely will melt and Infamous:SS is an A-bomb.

LOL dude stop with the pathetic backpedaling, you blatantly tried to take a stab at PC gamers with your first comment, there is no need in trying to BS your way out of it by pretending it's was just some innocent analysis of how a certain demographic of gamers will feel about the state of future game development.

It's not just BF4. Most multiplats released have been the same thing. It's not unreasonable to be skeptical.

NG consoles huh, so xb1 and ps4 run at the same settings just different resolution ? I'm not buying this lol, if they can run at high settings why not push the resolution higher and run them at medium settings?

Da fuq?

This thread is pretty funny so far. My gut tells me it's going to get funnier before all is said and done, though.

$1,000 PC will become coding to the metal. Coding to the metal will become value for the price. Value for the price will become graphics don't matter. Graphics don't matter will somehow become "you can't live without Naughty Dog games".

In short, I expect it to be about as funny as every other thread like this.

I don't know. How many developers have claimed this and then it turned out to not be the case?

I just fail to see how any other game has any relevance to this game. It's perfectly fine to be sceptical about it, if that's how you feel, it's just that particular person seemed pretty convinced about it.

The PC master race is going to get real salty once they start realizing that their rigs are going to be playing games optimized for mid-range PCs (PS4 and Xbox One) for the coming years. Let the bottle necking begin.

They have already realized this a long time ago. That is why games like watch dogs will have terrible sales on PC. Because PC gamers would rather spend money on games that were developed with the PC in mind first and/or offer something new for the master race. Rather than spend money on more gta clones and games that are dumbed down for the lowest common denominator that also come with third party drm.

Yeah right and when the next game comes a long and devs make the same statements you can just go and tell me the exact same thing, about how I can't use different games as proof.
That poor goal post will just never find a spot to stay at.

Well, he's correct. By 2016 any person who games primarily on PC and enjoys AAA gaming will complain about the PS4/Xbox One holding them back. Pretty much a given.

So I should buy a $1000 PC rig to play indies that would run on a $200 laptop ? Okay, I guess. Or I just play those indies on my PS4 too.

If I can play every AAA game day one on "High" settings on my console for $400, why should I buy a $1000 PC rig and wait for crappy (or late ala GTA, Destiny...) PC ports that sometimes never come ? I just don't know.

I agree on PC sales though, and publishers agree too. They're terrible. Hence the so so PC ports.

SMOK3Y always good for.... eh... hold on, I'll think of something...

just your always so adamant on the PC front your posts seem so passionate to say consoles are so inferior. I know they are (most people do) my PC is a nice one aswell & could shit all over my PS4 but I know theyre different but both are excellent at what they do. and being from AU its hard to swallow the you can build a cheap PC to do the same as you cant really here because of prices

So there isn't any advantage for a closed platform, am I right? We don't have any points because we are idiots? We don't even have the right to like console gaming? Sounds like a fair argument.

What developers have made this statement and it has turned out to be false? At least tell me which ones have. It would be a more convincing argument then.

Man what the fuck is even going on?

All of this is true, but I'm an optimist. When it comes to a carnival of stupid, the destination is always clear but the journey can sometimes provide some hilarious and unforgettable moments.

Edit: it begins

Jesus Christ you can't be serious, right? PC gamers with highend hardware are a minority. PC sales aren't low because PC gamers are "too proud" to run those "console games" on their highend rigs. PC sales for such games are low because, among other reasons, not every PC gamer can even run those games at high settings.

Just take a look at the steam hardware survey, for example at the display resolution:

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

3,67% have displays with more than 1080p

32,91% have displays with 1080p

63,42% have displays with less than 1080p

Oh god. This again?

PS3/360 = Low then? Man its going to look like shit on the old consoles, loads of tearing I bet too.

Actually doesn't look that bad going from the most recent stream. The lighting isn't completely on GTA V's level but still looks reasonable. I have a feeling PC will be getting high-res textures, MXAA, PhysX and probably better tessellation too. It won't be the 2012 reveal, but it will be damn close to it.

Right. As funny as "Ubisoft PC ports are so unoptimized"

Oh god. This again?

Yes. Do you have something constructive to add?

Steam has over 65,000,000 users, so even if the hardware survey were completely accurate (it's not) then over 20,000,000 PC gamers are playing at 1080p according to those figures.

I have yet to see any footage for the older consoles, is there a video somewhere? I have a feeling most of the footage out now is for PC and PS4/Xbox One.

Yep, like clockwork. Pretty sad to see people shitting up the thread so quickly. It didn't even make it past the first page before some idiot is randomly calling out "salty" PC gamers and derailing the thread like it's a race to the top of the shit pile.

Topic: This is good news, but I want to see benchmarks. This is also "high" settings at a lower res, lower framerate, etc...

Get the feeling that comparison is fairly generous to the console versions. We'll see...

I don't get the feeling that telling you how flawed that survey is will fit your definition of "constructive". I could probably post some Cerny or Kaz gifs for you, though.

Check the OT, there was a X360 stream going this morning that showed the game off quite nicely albeit the player was atrocious.

All this PC talk is making me all hot.

But...is this game even going to be good?

Depends on what you want? Are you looking for a true open-world game ala GTA V with online elements that resemble GTA IV's? Then yes, this game may be for you.

Kinda surprised tbh.

The fact that they have commented on the higher quality footage being from a PC, compared to some of the lower quality vids seen on GAF from PS4 or whatever, there must be a huge difference between high and ultra.
