Just Tron's. And it actually adds a lot to his character, much more than either film.

Did I read that Uprising got canceled before its story was completed, though? I don't think I could handle watching it knowing that.

Some things are unresolved but it's a mostly episodic show.

Visually and aurally stunning. Absolutely stunning. As in, arguably among the best in the medium of film.

Thematically quite powerful, too.

Smart (if unnecessary) use of 2D/3D IRL/Grid divide.

Solid performances all round.

Perfectly adequate dialogue writing.

Dumb fun plot.

What's not to like?

I literally just saw the movie for the first time and I agree with everything you said.

Imo it's the best movie to showcase your entertaining system set up. It's visuals + audio (dat Daft Punk OST) are top notch. The story itself isn't as good though.

It was cancelled. There are some fan campaigns working on a S2, but the likelihood of those succeeding are slim at best.

Gorgeous, gorgeous movie. Full of flaws, but I adore the design work. One of the best end-to-end consistent aesthetics we've seen in the past few years, along with the artwork for the Dead Space games.

My favorite part about TRON 1 was hope the programs related to Users, and Legacy took that away. Granted, Flynn getting trapped on a private system for ~1000 years did weird things to The Grid.

The plot of TRON 1 is understated. The Master Control Program nearly took over the world through Encom's network connections. Meanwhile, Legacy and Uprising are highly-embellished military stories that don't matter to Users or take advantage of their computer world. It looks cool but that's about it. Daft Punk produced some good music at least.

That said I still want TRON 3. Flynn Lives damn it. TRON himself deserves time on the big screen too.

All the stuff from the Grid would work like it was on the Grid, just like human bodies continue to work as human bodies in the Grid (see: Sam's blood when cut by Rinzler.)

The Grid is a simulation with unreal physics. Simulations would not work in the real world.

I sometimes just put this film on randomly as background when friends are over for drinks. Its just so goddamn pretty and cool to look at. Combined with the awesome soundtrack and Jeff Bridges you just cant have a bad flick if you tried.

Lots of directors do. David Fincher came from advertising too (and his first movie was Aliens 3.)

I'm of the same mind as MisterHero on this one. Lots of expectations/connections from the first film that were not touched upon in Legacy.

The movie wasn't bad, certainly watchable but all the charcters were really uninteresting (all of them!) and by the middle of the movie it was just degenerating into bad sci-fi. Admirable effort, but if I hadn't seen uprising I wouldn't be disappointed that it could have turned out so much better.

I'm probably in the minority but I still really really love the original film, one of my favorite movies ever. Between how it looks and sounds it still seems so alien and exotic compared to anything else out there.

It has yet to be officially canceled actually, and they're using Uprising character models in Disney Infinity.
