I suppose I need to admit something here. I've never been to an IMAX movie. Honestly, in my mind i picture this ginormous screen that could potentially detract from the experience.

I've seen Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions, V for Vendetta, and 300 at IMAX.

It's amazing. Best way to watch a movie.

You'll be overwhelmed at first, but within 10 minutes or so you'll adapt. Just make sure you arrive very early so you can get a good seat in the middle near the back. Watching imax near the bottom row is painful sometimes.

chud has several awesome interviews with the stars of the movie if anyone's interested.

patrick wilson (night owl)
matthew goode (ozymandias)
jeffrey dean morgan (comedian)
jackie earle haley (rorschach)

and zack snyder (visionary)

wow. they all seem to be completely enthralled by the roles.. thats great to hear.

The first time I saw myself in the mirror I got the giggles. I was like, 'Oh my god, there's no resemblance to me whatsoever, I'm the Comedian, I'm Edward Blake.' It's really exciting and it's going to be fun seeing everyone in their get-ups.

Jackie Haley answers each question with a huge essay. :lol

Oh God

Q: So of course we have to ask are you familiar with the comic?

Goode: You know, I wasn’t. I met someone who was involved with the cartoons, the Invincibles or whatever it was. . .

Q: You talking about Pixar?

Goode: Yeah yeah yeah... What’s it called?

Q: The Incredibles?

Goode: The Incredibles! Yes, and so I knew that that was sort of loosely based on the novel, and I was told a bit about it, but I wasn’t into that area of comics and graphic novels, so it was all very new to me.

Got my IMAX ticket for 12:01am on March 6th (bought it last Saturday). Going with friends and afterwards, we're heading down to Disneyland for a weekend trip.

Good times. :D

Why wouldn't you go to IMAX? It's obviously a superior way to watch the movie even if it's not natively filmed in IMAX.

if you get a shitty seat with IMAX, the movie can be real hard to watch. getting there early is a must.

Yeah seriously. I saw The Dark Knight on IMAX after seeing it in 35mm. I'm really glad I saw 35mm first. The IMAX, while it's a must-see, it is quite overwhelming, especially for the first time, and if you get a shitty seat it could completely ruin it.

Hate to say it, but those clips kind of lowered my anticipation.
Same here. I think its because there is no buildup to those scenes. If you read those scenes in the comic they would still be great because you wouldnt be able to remove the rest of watchmen from it. Those movie clips arent supposed stand alone scenes as weve seen them so theyre not really that impressive. Thats what I think anyway.

I don't know, the acting seems bad. One of many reasons I don't like Snyder, he doesn't seem to know how to direct actors. Also the slow motion is terrible.

Damn! I know pretty much EVERYTHING about Watchmen but DAMN, I wasn't expecting this much media. You can literally sum up the entire movie from the amount of clips they've shown...

Not at all.

The Comedian jump down slow mo was random as hell even though you knew it was coming :lol. Its like there was a clip missing or something...it's awkward.

Ozymandias' casting is really starting to bother me. They turned him into some skinny pasty guy with a British accent and sinister costume. I hope that the final product is less disappointing but the clips don't have me holding my breath.

I really don't like how he delivered those lines in the above clip either. Now he looks and sounds weak.

Wouldn't that make his ultimate outcome even less predictable?
I don't think I'll be able to buy him being able to
take on Rorschach and Night Owl at the same time and totally wreck them
.

I went back and watched it a second time, and I think that the way that he delivered the lines is fairly appropriate.
I never thought of Ozy as being particularly strong in voice or body at the beginning of the novel, at least not when he's acting as a civilian; his strength and speed isn't really developed until later, when we see him do his gymnastic stunts and when he massacres the assassin. I think the idea behind the direction is that Ozy is not really meant (in terms of destiny) to be a superhero; he has the mind and the physical skill for it, but he lacks the passion and conviction that the other costumed heroes seemed to have for the act. He's a more cerebral, intelligent person, the type who would seem weak to those that are not familiar with how powerful of a person he truly is; if he seems weak and thin earlier in the movie, it leaves room for him to become more intelligent and imposing when the twist comes. It's a matter of building up to it; it's just a means to an end. I'm not going to say that I think that it's good, as I have not seen it yet, but comparing shots of Ozy from that scene to what appear to be shots of him at the end, there definitely seems to be a difference in demeanor. He seems bigger, meaner, and more driven at the end.

I like Ozymandias in the movie, based on the footage I've seen so far. He's different, but I think it fits with the vibe of the movie.

I take back any praise I heaped on Matthew Goode as Veidt/Ozymandias based on this clip that just came out.
He comes off as some megalomaniacal James Bond villain with a speech impediment. People will think he's the bad guy from the moment he appears on screen. They should have cast someone along the line of Aaron Eckhart who was PERFECT casting for Harvey Dent. Tom Cruise would have been perfect (minus the whole height thing).

He also catches a bullet in the comic when no one thought he could. Ozy's body is obviously not normal.

Aw man, so we don't get to hear Rorschach call
Adrian
a prostitute? At least give me some goofy little action figures. :(

From the looks of things when he reveals himself to be behind it all most of the audience will be all "Duh....course he's the villain. I can just picture him twirling his moustache and stroking his cat". Which is a shame, as I think that Snyder really could have made that into a big-ass twist. As you say, he needs to be played more like Dent in TDK, someone who wouldn't look out of place trying to sell home wares on the shopping channel.

On a non-spoiler related note, I've started seeing quite a few adverts for this on UK TV over the past few days, its starting to get pushed. I wonder what the audience reaction will be when they see trailers for a bad-ass comic book movie, then they are introduced to these impotent, sociopathic, megalomaniac, morally depraved characters.... standing outside the cinema exit should be fun!

HE ACTUALLY DOES STROKE HIS CAT THOUGH

But yeah it's definitely bound to have the 2 extremes, people coming out saying it's the best movie ever and others saying it's the worst.

Tom Cruise also would have cost a boatload of money.

Although I do believe a Tom Cruise or Jude Law / Keanu Reeves Watchmen was a possibility at one point.

I wonder if the big names wouldn't have led to some script change demands, though.
