Watchmen Trailer

Holy shit they seem to have most of the major scenes covered in the trailer, including the one where we discover what turned Rorschach who he is. Certainly looking forwards to it now,
even if every scene involving Ozy looks terrible; I'm looking at you Joker flinging.

shit hole. why was the motion comic taken down already? Can someone who grabbed it please toss it up on the net. I would like to watch this while I'm waiting in line in an hour.

The REAL Ozymandias.

Looks horrible.
CGI, greenscreens, random slow-mo, and people talking like they're constipated.

p.s.
I know this hack Snyder has a hard-on for slow motion, but seriously, did you need to slow down the fucking song?

BROTHER!

Glad to see I'm not alone. Zack Snyder should be banned from using hi-speed cameras.

I'm glad they're doing this apparently by the book, but am sad to see that the motion of the trailer moves only slightly faster than it does on the page. What the hell with the ridiculous slow motion? It was terrible in 300 and it's terrible here.

And the transition from
The Comedian getting pushed out the window to Ozymandias was in poor taste
--it's already giving away key plot points.

EW has a new interview with Moore:

There's a little bit about Snyder and 300, and also this:

Have you seen the ''Trapped in the Closet'' episode?
[Sings] ''I'm trapped in the closet!'' Yeah, that was terrific. I thought the way that South Park handled that bit with the Scientologists was wonderful. I was also quite heartened the other day when watching the news to see that there were demonstrations outside the Scientology headquarters over here, and that they suddenly flashed to a clip showing all these demonstrators wearing V for Vendetta [Guy Fawkes] masks. That pleased me. That gave me a warm little glow.

OMFG YESSSSSS

You see his dick in the trailer.

Yeah, wont be surprised if the change those shots for the full release.

Probably for the best tbh, never mind the prudish ratings, last thing you want is this film branded as "The film with the blue dude who has his cock out for the whole movie".

Saw it before Dark Knight... holy shit it looked thoroughly terrible but after 300 I'm not surprised. Not sure what happened to Snyder after his Dawn of the Dead remake which I liked a lot, but it ain't good.

speaking of the dawn of the dead remake, i rewatched slither last night (dawn remake was written by james gunn, writer/director of slither). can't wait to see what gunn is up to next.

I saw that last year I think. Pretty fun, if pointless flick. It was just... really weird. :lol

The thing is, the people who have read the graphic novel will already know what's happening. They'll go see it just to see how well Snyder brought it to life. Everyone else will see this trailer and think their own opinions. But unless you know the background of the story, nothing in the trailer is spoiler-ish.

That makes sense, I suppose.

It'll be fun to see peoples' reactions to this when they go in expecting some sort of neo-X-Men and end up with a philosophical detective story.

I'll bet you ten it won't be the case

I think all the philosophy and character development will be totally overshadowed by the visuals...I mean just looking at the scene at the end of the trailer made me forget all the dialogue that happened in that chapter of the book.

Kind of a shame because it's the depth of the experience that seems really special about it, but movie-goers appreciation is most likely going to be totally superficial.

Perhaps, but the film will certainly increase sales for the trade paperback, and quite possibly be as solid an adaptation as one could make in a limited runtime (for that matter, has Synder speculated about his final runtime at this point? Here's hoping over 2 hrs, at least).

Hopefully the same runtime as TDK, if anything...we'll tell by this weekend's box office whether or not lengthy "comic book" adaptations work for audiences. Originally, Snyder had a 3hr cut...but the studio wanted him to trim it down (which in that case...hardcores like us lose) and King Kong has basically taught that recent 3hr movies didn't work in terms of opening box office numbers (disregarding the profit it garnered from overall sales).

Meh. I've never found a bigger fan of Watchmen in real life than myself, I've read the book dozens of times, and I'm psyched.

There's "perfect adaptation" and then there's "noble and interesting try" and Watchmen was never going to be more than the latter no matter how well made.

For all the things that seem wrong in it, the idea of a live-action movie and the stuff they got right has me totally excited.

Like Lynch's Dune-- even if it doesn't work, it's going to be an incredibly compelling wreck at least.

My sentiments exactly.

I hated 300 with a passion. Hopefully they don't do the ridiculous 360 degree camera rotations over every hit in the action scenes

Saw the 300 trailer at the Dark Knight last night and thought it looked awesome. I liked the vibe of The Spirit trailer as well, but I'm not as sold on that being good yet.

See Snyder? See what you've fucking done?

Watchmen looks like fucking 300 now.
Well, how else are they going to advertise it? Moore doesn't want anything to do with it, and Snyder did hit big with 300.
I like the stylish look but don't think it fits Watchmen's world though.

Man, you guys really do judge books by their cover. Remember when Ledger was cast as the Joker? There's a buffet of crow running from that right now.

Snyder nailed the other characters. I'm sure Ozy will be fine.

Oh please.

Nobody is looking down upon his acting skills like people did with Ledger, he just looks like a skinny moron in a Batman Forever suit.

he might be the best actor ever, but Niles Crane's ghost is haunting that movie

I understand Ozy's original costume was probably too '80ish, but that doesn't justify this anonymous looking random superhero bullshit suit he's wearing in the movie

seriously, this sucks

I thought it looked fantastic. So many scenes are lifted straight from the comic. That's really what I want - a very straight visual adaptation of the comic.

The only problem I have is the abuse of slow-motion. Couldn't stand it in 300, can't stand it here. I mean, even the scenes where the queen WALKS on the street while NOTHING OF INTEREST is happening are slowed down. Snyder fails.
