Games Austin will fight for:

Invisible Inc.
Nitro Plus Blasterz Heroines Infinite Duel
It's Nitroplus. Come on, Austin even specifically mentioned that in his rant!

After that diatribe, I feel like Austin should be invited out to a fighting game event like CEOtaku or Animevo -- then he could have all of the anime fighters he could possibly want (yes, including Nitroplus Blasterz).

why is it just one word?

this is why anime has no respect

Watching the 72 stuff and on Dungeon World... Did the DM have a massive joint and then suddenly realise "Wait, I shouldn't smoke this right now?"

The e-mail about sex/nudity in games was great.

"Be Honest about your horny" - Austin Walker

But as hilarious as I found that comment when Austin said it theres a ton of truth in that. It's one of the reasons I really love the Senran Kagura games. Those games are very very explicitly clear on what they are. And I think the honesty there is very refreshing. Where as I think something like Cindy from FFXV is way more insidious even though she is more clothed her context in the world is way more baffling and out of place than anything in the Senran Kagura games.

I just want way more porn games in the realm of video games. If we can explore violence we can also explore sex and it would be nice if like Austin said that could just have an honest conversation so we could start establishing a quality bar. Because as much as I love my smut like most porn games are just really bad quality wise both in game play and presentation.

Why are we still talking about grinding in JRPGs? It is never necessary to grind in most modern JRPGs to complete the story for years. Even if we're talking about some post-game completionist thing, it's still pretty rare to have to grind for hours on end. Hell, I find myself grinding more for player levels in FPSes than JRPGs nowadays.

Maybe it's because the games are generally long, so the mechanics start to wear on you after a while. I have played a number of JRPGs where I really enjoyed it, but didn't finish cause it just lasted too long and there were other things to do. But that is not grinding. That is a pacing issue.

Eh the only time I had to grind was cause I brought a new lvl 1 into the team near the end of the game, and that was my fault.

But why is the default solution to 'the battle is too tough', 'grind the shit out of levels'? So many times all I needed to to was to tweak my party or learn how the boss worked.

i dunno using tactics in a pokemon game feels weird. like mimicutie was fucking kicking my ass. then i got super lucky because my gengar managed to get a sucker in to dispell his stand, gengar's cursed body disabled his shadow claw meaning he couldn't oneshot my archerowl who then stomped that fake pikachu into the dirt

The question bucket is about to overflow with people asking why they forgot the Souls series in the jrpg discussion. The only question for Friday is, will more Souls fans email in than AIM fans?

Do many people really think of Souls games as jRPGs? Like obviously yes they are RPGs made in Japan, but I don't think of them as conveying many of the same ideas. To me they're almost a different genre than something like FFXV.

I would call them action adventure games, sometimes. Yes the RPG part is important, but the action and adventure part stands out.

Come on guys, I know souls games are from Japan, and they do have some RPG elements, but if I ask for a JRPG and you give me Dark Souls, I'm gonna be pissed.

It's a company's name, to be fair.

I still haven't watched more than the Run Button part of the launch stream but I'm definitely diving in soon now that I have some more free time. Part of me wants to just jump ahead to the Dungeon World bit, though.

Yeah I was playing Steins; Gate last night and saw the Nitroplus logo and went "oh I guess they're a company."

Does the RSS work properly for anyone? Whenever I try to go to video pages from the RSS I get a 404...

Yeah it seems to be broken for the videos but fine for articles. It looks like the problem is that the RSS feed is trying to go to waypoint.vice but the videos are hosted at videos.vice.

Hmm that seems to be part of it but doesn't solve it directly. Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy at least.

I think the podcast might be better if they had different people introducing each story. Right now Austin takes the lead on most of the stories which means he shapes most of the talking points.

Also, Danielle has the Correct Hannibal Opinions.

Oh my god I'm finally watching the Long Live the Queen segment from the livestream

The voice acting is so spot on. Does she actually have a history doing dubs or something? How does she manage to sound exactly like a stereotypical female anime VA?

It's so good, her crazy accurate anime voice + Patrick's weirdness was amazing (I think you mean Danika though).

Driving along in FFXV and Prompto asks what I want more photos of... and Gladio is actually a selectable option. (1, 2)

Thanks Prompto...

Best part of the podcast is the schedule. Twice a week is great. They were able to talk about The Game Awards the day after it happened and they were able to talk about PSX the day after it happened. Meanwhile the Bombcast has to wait until tomorrow to talk about either one of them.

this is a really good point. it makes it super predictable how each news story will unfold.

Cool valuable lessons response. Poor Bakalar though, not even a mention :(
Oh didn't you know, Austin hates Bakalar just as much as Jeff hates Brad.

For real though, I don't think they actually worked together outside of the doing the Beastcast once a week so I'm guessing he just didn't think of him someone he worked with.
