We need a Motorstorm on the PS4

WHOA. Excuse my ignorance, but which Wipeout game is that?!

It's the Sol track (one of the later ones) in Wipeout 2048 for PS Vita.

And that particular shortcut is something that you could play the game for a long time without noticing. I'm seeing it for the first time and now want to fire up the game and see if I can make it.

MotorStorm: Apocalypse was the best racing game and one of my favorite games last generation, so I'd definitely be down for a PS4 sequel.

It did see 3 games though. But yeah, unfortunately the best one (in my opinion, Motorstorm Apocalypse) sold the worse, so we'll probably wont get a sequel to that :( Motorstorm Apocalypse 2 on the PS4 would be amazing! The online multiplayer in Motorstom Apocalyse was so much fun i think.

Motorstorm 3 was unlucky the Tsunami just hit Japan when it launched and then after that the PSN hack. I really do hope they do another one.

The game was damn amazing on the PS3. With the PS4 power behind it I imagine it looking ridiculously

That mud. That ground deformation.

Needs to be done.

Pacific Rift 2 on ps4.. my gawd

Yes.
PR is among the best arcade racers ever made, i'm in the opinion that topping it on the ps3 would be impossible, so we need a ps4 motorstorm to kick it away from its throne!
More power would truly benefit the game core mechanic.

Evo do it!
(Pls sony allow it: you have already sold one copy XD )

Where we're going, we don't need wheels.

Wrong. MS was superior.

Dammnit. Apoc was worth buying just for that race. Think I'll be playing some PR and Apoc today...

As for Wipeout, I used to love that game, but the joys of the series have been seriously diluted in recent years. Perhaps it's me because Wipeout HD was very good and the PSP versions seemed solid at least, but I feel the series needs a hiatus before it gets a reboot. Motorstorm however needs a new game once Evo are done with Drive Club. If they do a good job with that and it's a big success then perhaps that will give them sufficient lee-way with Sony to get a new MS greenlit.

Edit:
Not according to Metacritic.

Boo sux to Metacritic. The value I place on reviews and aggregators has largely disintegrated in the last few years. Personally speaking of course. Make your own mind up.

I liked the first one the best, the setting was great. PR was still good but too many directions to go in, and everything covered in greenery so you can't see shit. Apocalypse left me cold.

And with some people saying normal racing games are hitting diminishing returns, a motorstorm game is ideal to literally throw more shit at the screen to show off next gen.

MotorStorm: Apocalypse was the best racing game and one of my favorite games last generation, so I'd definitely be down for a PS4 sequel.

Hated it. Absolutely terrible game. All the stuff flying around on screen and debris on the tracks, the camera pulling away for events, made for distracting and unenjoyable racing. Coupled with the incredibly bad "story" and cutscenes and the forgettable original soundtrack instead of licensed music, it pretty much ruined the series for me.

MS:PR was the peak in the series and if it ever continued I hope they go back to that template instead of the silliness that was Apocalypse. Seems to be one of those series Sony could easily farm out to some upcoming smaller dev.

It's kinda like when Wii U defenders use off-screen gifs to prove that games look far beyond anything a PS3/360 could put out. :P

In defense of that, I'm pretty sure that gif was made before Vita even came out so all we had were some off screen footage, and trailers.

Five.

I would love to have a new Motorstorm on PS4. I don't think they ever nailed it on PS3 but that original trailer shows how awesome it could be when done right and if they have the hardware to pull off the graphics and the physics. However, I think they went to the completely wrong direction with the Apocalypse and that game would have bombed even without the launch problems...

Absolutely. And as much as I enjoyed Apocalypse I would prefer if they go the lush jungle route like Pacific Rim. Though I am glad they are making a new IP first.

Metacritic doesn't know what it's talking about.

I have made up my mind, and for me WipEout HD is the best racing game of the generation. =) The first and third MotorStorm (I don't have the second) just lack the finesse of WipEout; the precise controls, the sense of speed, the tracks you want to play over and over again, the game modes, split screen multiplayer (lacking in the first MotorStorm), and the visuals and smoothness (1080p/60fps!). It just felt that winning the races in MotorStorm was often more about luck than skill, as there was no telling where the vehicle was going to bounce to. That being said, I'd love to see another arcade-like demolition racer like MotorStorm/FlatOut. Funnily enough, also FlatOut had a lacking local multiplayer, as there were no AI controlled cars in the two player mode, which really stripped away all the fun of the multiplayer.

Wrong. MS was superior.

Perhaps the best racing gif ever. I fucking love that his position changes from 4 to 5 as the burning wreckage of a truck goes hurtling by overhead.

Can you imagine all of the incredible Motorstorm gifs we'd get with the PS4's recording capabilities?

I hope it comes back as well. Pacific Rift was my favorite racer last gen. I was obsessed. Platinum'd it, even, including the 140 or whatever time trials.

Damn that was a tricky Plat. Take my hat off to you.

I Plat'd Apocalypse & RC. They were easier than that definitely.

Am I the only one who would also love RC 2? I loved that so much. Even Vita only would be good. Pacific Rift 2 would be good too, for the setting mainly. Apocalypse had great MP... I was addicted for ages, so much fun.

Motorstorm RC was awesome. I also liked the first Motorstorm and Pacific Rift was very good too.
Apocalypse was not for me, because in my opinion Motorstorm should be all about racing in the mud.
A real next gen version with better track deformation and mud would be an instant buy for me.

Fair enough. I would recommend you try Pacific Rift though - to my mind it fixes some of the issues with the first and doesn't have some of the flaws of Apoc. Plus the location is perfect. Arguably the best of the series.

Loved every installment of the series. I think an HD remake would work. It was supposed to be a graphical showpiece for the PS3 but I always found the fidelity pretty soft. Improved draw distance, framerate and load times would be just great. And a PS4 sequel, well, yes x1000. *Though Wipeout would be better.

Edit to say that Pacific Rift was the best of the 3.

I liked it less and less with each sequel. The main series ran out of ideas and turned into a gimmick set piece tech demo and RC was just lifeless. I think they should have removed cars from the series to make it closer, the monster truck was a lame addition.

Edit: wipeout is a speedboat simulator. Not really relevant.

Lol those are actual real landscapes filmed with HD or imax cameras from a helicopter with cg racers added in.
But... The mountains have a tiny bit of aliasing or some other graphical imperfections on them... It... Ummmm... I hate you. It still made my eyes hurt. Maybe it was the HD. Or the high FPS. Dunno.

Motorstorm 3 was unlucky the Tsunami just hit Japan when it launched and then after that the PSN hack. I really do hope they do another one.
That is true. They also patched out a scene from the single player where a person is imitating an attack on Tokyo because of the tsunami. I'm pretty sure that it was suppose to be an imitation of Godzilla though, but it was kinda an unfortunate timing (something that they couldnt forsee when the game was made of course).

True, for some reason i was thinking about the PS3 retail games only. I forgot about Arctic Edge and RC, eventhough i've beaten both those games.

The Rubberbanding in Pacific Rift is what made that game so damn great. You could usually beat the rubber band AI if you played the game strategically, once you figured out what the AI was up to, on each stage, winning was a breeze. If you lost a race because you made a mistake near the end then you must have really disliked Online since races at the front were always tight - I would sweat bullets towards the end of an online race especially if I would hear someone just behind me overheating their turbo. Damn I loved MSPR Online.
A Motorstorm PR2 on the pS4 would be tits.
I also think Evo could also do Wipeout justice, and bring the franchise back to it's psx roots. Although I liked the Wipeout games post Fusion, the track design and handling was just not up to par with Wo1, 2097 and Wo3.
EVO nailed everything with MS - especially PR, and the vehicle handling brought back memories of wipeout with it's pitch controls.

we need more racing games in general.
I feel more and more compelled to racing games, just because most other genres go down the shitter.

First, give me a PS4 GT.
then give me a motorstorm (apocalypse prefered)
then a wipeout
and then some more!

We need DriveClub to be successful enough to keep Evolution in business, but not so much that they feel inclined to make a sequel.

A proper reimagining of MotorStorm that reflects the original 2005 CG trailer would be fucking insane.

Absolutely. And as much as I enjoyed Apocalypse I would prefer if they go the lush jungle route like Pacific Rim. Though I am glad they are making a new IP first.
I have a hard time classifying DC as a new IP. It's basically Gran Turismo Horizon.
