Fixed. Listen to Weezer records and songs that have Matt Sharp involved with them. Miraculously, everything without him is shit by comparison. It's not that I think Matt Sharp is the reason for the quality of the first third of weezer's career, but rather, it makes a nice asterisk when you say you "like weezer" that you only like the lineup that includes Sharp.

Skip Make Believe, Green and Maladroit, and I'll be genuinely shocked if The Red Album is worth listening to.

If I wanted to hear Pat or Brian sing I'd listen to their shitty side projects.

Luke said it so I wouldn't have to.

Automatic is proof that Pat is a BAD songwriter? Automatic sounds great!!
I can't speak for the newer stuff Pat has done, but have you ever heard 'Pay No Mind' by the Special Goodness? It's an earlier recording from the beginnig of the project and it's pretty good stuff.

"Pork and Beans" and the album preorder is up on iTunes. Exclusive tracks with preorder/iTunes: "I Can Love" for preordering either regular or deluxe and "It's Easy" for preordering the deluxe version.

Any insight into these songs?

Also, there's that exclusive Ticketmaster ticket code thing they always do with preorders. I'm sure it was a given for a tour, but it's still nice to have a virtual confirmation. I hope my work schedule this summer will allow me to see them!

I think Rick Rubin is way overrated as a producer. He basically gives the band mixtapes and says "alright now write a song in the style of this OTHER artist".

Beastie Boys, RUN DMC, LL Cool J and Public Fucking Enemy

we heard that shit when make believe was first leaked too.

One listen to The Greatest Man That Ever Lived will change your mind.

Good news... very experimental in nature while still bringing the pop goodness. Bad news... no guitar solos thus far.

Heads up... keep your eyes and ears open. It's out.

FWIW - Weezer is back in ways you've never imagined.

Er, it's leaked? I see it absolutely no where.

No idea how you heard it.

I have heard Troublemaker. I am about to hear Everybody Get Dangerous.

I can't find anything else. I'm not looking hard though; I wanna listen to it all in one go really.

Everybody Get Dangerous is going to be quite divisive I think.

After listening to everything (only the first 8 tracks are available as of now) twice now, I think it's safe to say that the Red Album is everything you could've hoped for. It's hard for me to say this; but, I would've thought that Pinkerton would've been River's SMiLE - but, this is shaping up to be that statement. VERY experimental in nature with tempo changes and bridges leading to bridges and then back to the melody. If you love Across the Sea's lack of traditional structure... you'll love this. Even the song that advanced rumor was one of the weakest, Everybody Get Danderous, is rocking.

I'm speachless at this point. I need to listen to it again.

*Oh, and if you're the type of person that is anticipotined about everything in life because you can't form your own opinions and need someone else to shape it for you... just listen to it thinking the albums sucks and you'll love it. ;-)

It's a shame that people who want another Blue or Pinkerton are going to write this off. Cuz it's the opposite of that. It's Weezer doing something I never thought a major label rock band in 2008 would have the balls to do.

There's not really any guitar solos on this album too, so if you are gonna get pissy about that, get it out of the way now.

OK, got the songs.

First impression: this is about as experimental as a Weezer album can get. Obviously it's not anything ground breaking musically, but they're not just putting out the same stuff they've always done. It's probably got a lot to do with the different vocalists.

Listening now.

Holy balls. "Troublemaker" is fucking awesome.

Troublemaker ain't got dick on The Greatest Man That Ever Lived or Dreamin'.

Epic nerd pop rawk. For you nerds out there... it's like Iron Man teamed up with Batman to have buttsecks with Christian Bale while Robert Downey Jr. cheered them on.

Listening in order front to back (as everyone should).

"Heart Songs" is really good. Such a nice melody.

The Nirvana "Nevermind" part of the song is -awesome-. I love this.

"Back in 1991, I wasn't having any fun
Until my roommate said c'mon and put a brand new record on
Had a baby on it
He was naked on it
Then I heard the chords that broke the chains I had up on me"

Awesome.

Worst image ever.

How about Batman railing Scarlett Johansen and Adriana Lima while R.D. Jr. cheered them on?

Songs yet to be leaked:

09. Automatic
10. The Angel and the One

Deluxe edition bonus tracks:

11. Miss Sweeney
12. Pig
13. The Spider
14. King

iTunes bonus tracks:

I Can Love
It's Easy

I have no idea why they are releasing two versions. It is quite dumb in my opinion. Especially because so many people will miss out on Pig.

When I was younger
I used to go and tip cows for fun, yeah
Actually, I didn't do that
Cause I didn't want the cow to be sad

:lol

Quite possibly the greatest lyrics from Rivers ever.

Agreed. I had such a grin on my face when I heard that.

<insert This is NeoGAF kid avatar> This is NeoGaf, so you got to go fishing with the correct bait around here (Iron Man, Batman, Bale, Downey Jr.) ;-)

It's not as great as you guys are making it out to be, but it's certainly not near as bad as everything past Pinkerton is. I give it a B- so far, and I'm up to Cold Dark World.

Dreamin' is the only song I can make it through without feeling entirely embarrassed. Troublemaker is okay. Minus the rapping and speaking bits, Greatest Man is okay. Otherwise, no.

Just listened to it, its great. So far its everything I expected from this album.

I think Pork and Beans is the weakest song on there, and I like that song.

Who sings Thought I Knew?

First impression: stop singing.

It's the only song I don't like of the set. I think the CD is going to be a grower, it's certainly got it's own unique tone.
