well I lost another 5lbs. and am at 225 now. I think I need to start an actual exorcise routine to lose any more.

Ok, this is to anyone that is droping weight without working out. You'll all eventually get "skinny fat". Oh, and whoever was eating white bread, that's a waste of space.

it's amazing how some of you can gain/lose weight in such little time.

I'M 6'3 and I weigh 180lbs, and I'm trying to gain a little weight (muscle though) and it seems like a struggle.

Does anyone know of stomach exercises that are easy on your lower back? I had back surgery back in January and I cannot do a sit up at all. It puts to much pressure on my lower back and feels really bad.

until you slim down a bit, most stomach exercises will be altogether useless, besides whatever cardiovascular benefits you'll get from them. i say focus on stuff that will get your blood pumping, and worry about things like ab exercises when you've lost 50 pounds or so (which, if i'm looking at your original post right, would put you at about 230).

That's what I was thinking as well. I figured that if I can continue to loose the weight without doing stomach exercises, I might as well just wait until I loose a lot more. That way my body will weigh less and it will put less strain on my back when I do the stomach exercises.

Today was my weigh in day.

Last week: 281
Today: 276

Since I started keeping a record and really trying two weeks ago I've dropped 9 pounds. Back when I had surgery in January I weighed in at 310 pounds. So this year, I've dropped 34 pounds.

An update:

6'2, 22 years old
Starting weight: 295 around February
Last GAF weigh-in: 269 on 9/25/07
Current weight: 257 (-12 in 1 month)
Total weight loss: 38 pounds

I'm going to try to hit 235 by the time I go home in the second week of December, which means I'm going to have to bust my (fat) ass for the next month and a half.

good job man! you're kicking ass.
you worried about holiday backslide at all?

I'm not worried about single day holidays like Thanksgiving, but I am worried about being at home for 3 weeks. Whenever I'm home I gain some weight, simply because I'm not doing anything except catching up on game time and raiding the fully stocked pantry. I'm going to do my best to avoid this, because gaining weight back is really depressing, and I don't want to lose my motivation. Thankfully my dad (who's built just like me) is also on a weight loss plan and is doing well (about 40 pounds as well), and my sister had twins recently and is in the same boat. Maybe we'll all support each other...

I'm 6'3" and as of:

8/2007 I weigh 388 lbs

9/25/07 I weigh 337 lbs

10/7/07 I weigh 327 lbs

11/1/07 I weigh 287 lbs

I'm kind of proud of the 100 pound mark, I think I have like another 30-40 to go though. I was really shocked when I stepped on the scale today so I checked it several times to make sure it was reading correct. When my room mate wakes up I'll ask him to check it too.

Alright fuckos.

I'm already pretty fit, but I've been trying to lose that last layer for fat for a few years now, never to any success. Over the past couple weeks I changed my regimen quite a bit, going for a strict low-carb low-sugar, high-protein high-fat diet and doing a little HIIT (look it up) along with my weight lifting, and I'm already noticing more definition around my abs, definition that's never been there before. If you really want to lose not just weight but fat fast, drop the carbs (bread, oats, cereal, pasta, lots of fruits, etc), drop the sugar, and up your protein and (healthy)fat intake, and watch the fat shed off. This is a decent food list to follow: http://wilstar.com/lowcarb/guidelines.htm Carbs really are your enemy.

To be fair, a starvation diet worked for Christian Bale: http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...s_for_the.html
Yeah, and he looked like an Ethiopian afterwards. You want to lose fat, not muscle.

It's a bump, but I figured it was for a decent reason. This thread inspired me to loose some weight and I started doing weekly weigh-ins. Here are my stats now.

Date - 12/19/07

Height - 6'5"

Starting Weight - 285 lbs

Weight Today - 245 lbs

Weight Lost - 40 lbs

Days on Diet - 84 days

Feeling a lot better about myself and I feel a lot healthier now that I eat mainly vegetables and fruit. Thanks for starting this thread and inspiring me to try loosing weight myself. Hopefully you've maintained your diet and have lost a bunch as well.

I started a "healthy food" regimen on Nov 4th or so, as assigned by my doctor. I was weighing 145 lbs.

Today I'm weighing 130 lbs.

So that's 15 lbs in a month and a half by simply not eating shit. I switched to green teas (there's millions of varieties), and regular grilled/baked foods. None of my pants fit any longer =/. This is with basically zero change in activity. I think I walk a half mile on the weekends.

I haven't lost much muscle weight as far as I can tell because I'm still lifting this fucking heavy rolls at work with the same effort as before. Last time I measured my body fat on a cheapo bodyfat scale I was at 16%(a week ago) as opposed to 21% at 145 lbs.

Height: 5' 10"

Nov 24th Weight: 176 lbs
Dec 19th Weight: 167.8 lbs

Goal Jan 17th Weight: 155 lbs

My fitness goals are to be able to run 2 miles in 16 minutes, and bench press my weight 10 times and shoulder press half my weight 10 times. I've always hated running and never ran faster than a 8:05 mile in my life, but I think the time is right start pushing myself. I ran 2 miles in 18:21 yesterday without wearing myself out and think I can get below 18 by New Year's.

I weigh 14 and a half stones, and about 5'11" tall. If I'm walking everyday for exactly 1 hour (should be 2 miles or more), can I expect to lose any weight? I really want to lose belly fat through this simple exercise. Will it work?

Hmm, well I started my diet in April when I was around 316lbs. (6' 1'')

Now it's December, and I'm 264lbs. Feeling great, but I need to start exercising to continue the momentum.

oh, okay, that makes sense. i was reading your weights (relative to your tone, which was pretty clearly implying that at 145 you felt like a fatty) and laying that side-by-side with my weight--132 (just got on the scale to double-check)--and was a little befuddled. but i'm 5'10", completely average. so that makes some sense i guess

I've lost about 15 lbs since July, but haven't really lost anything in the past month. I've been going to the gym a steady 4-5 times a week, but I've put more focus on lifting than cardio lately. I need to change it up a little...I don't want to sacrifice too much muscle mass, but I need to build up cardiovascular endurance and shave a few lbs from my gut.

I hate to be a sourpuss when someone is bettering themsef in such a great way, but aren't you moving a little fast? People freaked out at me when I dropped 20 lbs in a month last year on a raw food/high amount of exercize diet. 40 lbs in three weeks seems like it might hurt your heart.

when you're that big weight just falls off initially, reggie. i'd wager that prior to this he's never watched his weight, and was living a pretty poor lifestyle. his body is shocked and rapidly dropping weight as he starts to live in a more reasonable way. if it continues at that rate down into the lower 200s, then you can be concerned

Actually, I used to be very much in shape. Sadly I let myself go for about 5 years or so and went from 260 to almost 390 =( I decided to slow down for the holidays though. I'm not starving myself or anything and sampling all the awesome holiday treats. I figure I'll start anew in January.

Well, that's awesome then. Good luck on the rest of the weight loss after the holidays.

I was getting pretty bloated at 145. My family genes demand the first 50% of all fat be deposited directly on top of the stomach. It was getting pretty bad. Im the skinny fat person when I let myself go (arms and legs stay fat free, just my stomach and side).

145 doesn't sound like much, but it's alot of weight for short person like me who doesn't have much muscle.

Down to 174 from somewhere between 240 and 245. Now that I'm getting closer to my goal weight(Somewhere between 150 and 160, I think), each pound seems to show a little more definition somewhere. Shoulders, abs, chest, get better and better. I lose a lot slower now(Down to ~1lb./week instead of 2) but it means a lot more. Keep it up guys!

Well, it's a new year and I'm starting it off at 203 lbs. I was at 222 last July. I'm 6'1" and almost all of my fat is now located in my gut/sides/back.

I'm hoping to get down to the 180-185 range by the beginning of summer. I've started doing more cardio without losing my gains in weight lifting thus far. We'll see how long I can manage that.

Good luck guys

Glad this thread has resurfaced. I am 6'2 and 209 pounds right now. Next week is sort of a ease-into-dieting week, followed by a hard 8 weeks after that. I'll expect to be at about 192 by the beginning of March.

Next Monday here at work starts our annual weight loss challenge. I have to throw down $50 along with everyone else and those that lose at least 15 lbs share the pot.

I'd been doing a little weight training, but I slacked up as soon as I realized I needed to lose 15 pounds or $50!

So I actually bought a scale and everything!

Height: 5'10''
Weight: 188

I want to hit about 155-160.

Is that all you have to contribute? This is a weight-loss thread, not a "point out all the fatties and state your own weight" thread.

If you care to lose a few pounds, just say what your goal is. Otherwise, what was the purpose of your post?

I've been wanting to lose weight, guess I'll throw my hat into the ring.

Height: 5'6"
Age: 20
Starting Weight: ~183 lbs.

I guess the goal I would set for myself is to lose somewhere around 20-25 lbs by the end of the college semester (so in roughly 4.5 months).

I've tried losing weight before (over the summer for about a month I went to the gym and played 30 min of basketball and lifted weights for an hour 4 days a week; I didn't keep track of my weight so I don't know how it went), but the hardest part for me has been creating a diet and sticking to it, especially being a college student living in a dorm. I can get down the "snack" meals fairly well enough and exercise (the gym is literally 2 min walking distance from my dorm), but I don't know where I'd get the time to be able to make eggs in the morning or grilled chicken for dinner. Also, being Hindu, I didn't eat meat for most of my life; I just began eating chicken and turkey roughly a year and a half ago, and I don't eat beef or fish (although I think I might try fish soon enough).

Another thing that is totally my fault and I need to get a handle on is drinking in college. I did a lot of that last semester and I definitely need to cut down (I usually drank a good amount of beer 3 days a week, something that's definitely not helping at all). That's all gonna depend on my willpower, but I'm really going to try to put a stop to that.

I've mostly cut out sodas from my diet (I've had maybe 3 cans in the past month) and I've switched to mostly water along with milk, orange juice, and Gatorade.

So, I'll try to set up some sort of schedule for when I get back to school...hopefully I'll have the willpower to follow through with it.

Might as well join this as well.

Age: 24
Height: 5'11
Starting weight: ~250

Well, my goal isn't exactly to just lose weight. I want to build muscle as well. My New Years resolution isn't just to exercise and eat right. I want to be able to dunk a basketball again. I could do it in junior high on a 9' rim with one of those mini basketballs and now I want to do it on a 10' rim with a real ball.

Dunking a basketball is something I really want to be able to do as well. I can grab the rim but I need a couple more inches on my vertical to put the ball in. It's hard to improve jumping though :(

I am going to have to lose some weight as well.

5'10"
175

I just want to get down to about 155-160, but actually get in shape!

I know what the problem is: beer, too much processed food and not enough exercise. I will still drink, but I am switching to wine and/or vodka over beer. Did that before and my body responded well.

I guess this thread applies to me too now, I need to lose the 10lbs I gained during this holiday and the exam weeks.

Age: 19
Height: 5 foot 10 1/2 inches
Weight before December: 160-165 lbs (fluctuated daily)
Weight now: 170-175 lbs

I've started running on the treadmill and started lifting weights, but as soon as school starts I bet it will be quite easy to shed the extra weight.

Age : 27
Height : 6' 2"
Starting Weight : 180

I stopped going to the gym after two year when I injured my hand. I have a running and rowing machine at home.

Looking to reduce my body fat percentage (currently 13.2%), it used to be just under 11%.

For anyone looking tips on loosing weight the best exercises you can do are skipping and rowing, much more effective than running.

Rowing is a hell of an exercise. I just find myself getting disinterested in doing that relatively quickly compared to elipticals or basketball.

Good luck on getting down to 11%. I wish I was at 13.2! I'm actually not sure what my percentage is right now and don't have any quick and easy way to find out.

I really enjoy an exercise that I can 'zone out', like running and rowing.

Before the injury I was down to 11.4%, it wasn't too difficult.

I changed my eating method, I eat well during the week and then enjoy myself during the weekend. I try to run for 45 minutes every other night (4 miles) and row for 15 minutes.

i really don't know how to lose any more weight! by no means am i "overweight", but i feel that i really could/should be thinner... or at least more fit

how do you drop those last 5-10 lbs?

I tried rowing a few times and I just couldn't get into it as much. I found myself quickly wanting to do something else, despite knowing that it was one of the most effective workouts I could be doing.

I would run more but my shins get really sore to the touch if I do that over a few days (not shin splints, but something else). The eliptical seems to be the thing that allows me to zone out the most, since I can do it with my eyes closed and not worry about running into anything or falling lol.

What do you use to check your body fat %? Since I've been doing a lot more lifting lately I'm not seeing the lbs drop off as fast, but I'd like to have another measure of improvement so I don't get too discouraged into skipping lifting again.
