I've never heard Happy. I've also never heard Wrecking Ball. I've also never heard Blurred Lines or listened to the entirety of Get Lucky aside from the 30 second YouTube preview.

I don't listen to todays pop music unless it's played at work. And we don't play that stuff at work. The most we've played is Somebody That I Used To Know that they stopped playing a while ago, Party in the USA which much to my dismay has stopped being played after only playing a handful of times, and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, which played maybe twice in all of 2013, but only after I had heard it for the first time on New Years Rockin' Eve that year.

Radioactive? Nope. No idea. Pitbull song? Nope, I'll avoid that shit like the plague.

Which means that you lost the MAGNIFICENT chatroulette video with it.

NSFW

damn, is that all one take like i think it is!
what a tracking shot Al!

There might be an invisible cut before Jack Black ... but yeah, invisible cuts didn't made Children of Men less awesome

Or at least heard of Blurred Lines.

Right, I missed that that's on here too. I mean I don't listen to the mainstream radio stations where I live, but like I go outside and I watch TV and I work with other humans so I've been exposed to all the songs.

I guess now that I think about it, I know a dude who NEVER seems to know any relevant pop culture stuff (he has satellite radio but only listens to 1 station, doesn't have cable and only watches movies when they're on Netflix) so I guess I can see how it happens. But still, you have to pretty much choose to be a hermit to not know this stuff.

That Tacky video was amazing, Weird Al has not lost his touch.

It'll be sad not getting new albums every few years, but if it means we get new stuff as it comes along, then more power to him!

Weird Al's career has pretty much been destroyed by the Internet.

I'm surprised he kept releasing albums as long as he did. I presume he was contractually obligated to do so.

What is it about Kristen Schaal that I find so hot? I can't really explain it, but she does something for me.

You and me both, brother.

The Tacky video was really good, I enjoyed the parody a lot! I don't listen to as much pop music nowadays, but I at least know all the parodies except for the Iggy Azalea song and about half of the Polka. As usual, though, I'm more interested in his original songs that do stylistic parodies and see what they're about.

Haha, loved the new vid. Great that he's still making music after all these years. As a person of Polish ancestry, I somehow genuinely enjoy the polka medleys.

First video is Tacky.

SEVEN MORE TO GO !

Who do you guys think will be tomorrow ?

And more importantly, only 5 parodys .... so AT LEAST 3 originals (or 2 originals and 1 polka) will get videos .... which will be ?

CD tracklist for reference :

1. Handy (Parody of "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea)
2. Lame Claim To Fame
3. Foil (Parody of "Royals" by Lorde)
4. Sports Song
5. Word Crimes (Parody of "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke)
6. My Own Eyes
7. NOW That's What I Call Polka!
8. Mission Statement
9. Inactive (Parody of "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons)
10. First World Problems
11. Tacky (Parody of "Happy" by Pharrell)
12. Jackson Park Express

I think I have an idea which one won't be on the list:
Inactive.

Because when your source material video is about Lou Diamond Phillips running a muppet fighting ring, you really can't get much goofier than that.

My preorder just downloaded on Itunes. Seems they launched it early. Loving what I'm hearing so far.

OMG.
FOIL
is so awesome.

I'm just curious to see what the inevitable video for
Word Crimes
will be.

And why are we spoiling track names?

Speaking of which I'm loving that song. Listening to it now. It's sad I'm never a fan of the original songs but his takes rock.

The full thing's up on Google Music now, I can only assume it's up on the other streaming sites.

Fucking fantastic, I actually wasnt't a huge fan of Alpocalypse but this one is cracking.

How have you escaped Happy or Radioactive? Those two songs have been practically forced on every living human the past couple years.

He's not the only one, since before the age of ipods, I rarely if ever listen to the radio, and watching TV involves Netflix or other forms that don't have commercials..

If theres any music remotely current that I listen to, its Chiptunes and soundtracks. The only "popular" song that I can recognize from the past 4 years is Gangnam Style.

I've heard Happy just once, and I can't stand Radioactive. All of the rest I've never heard of.
Kinda disappointed, but I suppose its my fault really.

Look back on some of his parodies without nostalgia glasses and remember who we're dealing with. The king of parody. He also made Cindy Lauper, Backstreet Boys, Billy Ray Cyrus, and (arguably) Milli Vanilli listenable.

I've been digging the album for a few days now and can't wait to buy my CD today. Give it a chance. He also has two style parodies which may become all time favorites. And I run a tight ship. So even if you only like older styles, you'll love the style parodies.

Rejoice!

Welp... I don't know a single one of the original songs that has a parody. Does that officially make me an old fuddy duddy?

Me too, but I know like every song in the polka, kinda wish he parodied THOSE instead. The most fun I had with ALbums was with Bad Hair Day and Running with Scissors when I did follow pop music and was familiar with every song he parodied.

Yep, up on Spotify. Even for a free user like me.
