Shane Black is the reason why people aren't getting pissed, Black is one of the best writers in Hollywood today.

Great, let him do something orginal like Long Kiss or adapt a book like he did w/ KKBB.

whats with the Gibson hate?

Apocalypto was amazing.

Pretty much stems from his sexist and anti-semite rant when he was picked up for DUI. I still love the guy and think he's a talented director and a very likable actor.

If it is like the first 2 then it will fucking rule. We need more movies like those today. Die Hard 4 gave me hope but it just wasn't in the same league as the original.

wtf? has no one seen "The Long Kiss Goodnight" with Samuel Jackson? It was possibly his best role ever! the movie was terrible but it some great lines

I never did one thing right in my life, you know that? Not one. That takes skill.

What, are you a Mormon?
Yes, I'm a Mormon. That's why I just smoked a pack of Newport and drank three vodka tonics.

Yeah KKBB had some good lines too. It just goes to show you that Shane Black is an awesome writer and Hollywood sucks.

Be nice if Gibson grew his hair out for this one. His character just wasn't the same without it in part 4.

Also if Gibson is really willing to do another Lethal Weapon then I want Mad Max 4 asap.

Polanski raped/sodomized a 12 year old and then fled the country ....and you guys get bent out of shape over some drunken ramblings?

Most people here weren't around when Polanski did that would be my only guess. But, yeah, that's GAF for you. The opinions around here fly in which ever direction the wind is going.

When Shane Black stopped writing the stories is when Riggs lost his psychotic edge. Here's hoping he can bring the animal in Riggs back out.

It's weird how the writers of 3 and 4 never did anything else really worthwhile, and yet these LW films still retained the same flavor (wry dialogue, Murtaugh's house getting wrecked, shit like that). Black had no hand in 3 or 4 at all? The psychotic edge of Riggs was the only thing missing, true (although him jumping in the pool with the plastic to get that one guy in 3 was pretty nuts), it still never felt off to me.

Yep, I'll agree with that. Both 3&4 felt like lethal weapon films and the characters always seemed like themselves. It's just in 3&4 the only history they seemed to remember of Riggs was that his wife died. They seemed to forget he's an ex-mercenary. He was no longer a lethal weapon in 3&4.

Yea, in 3 I can see the issue with that. It was the least relevant of all the films. 4, I just chalk it up to him being old and being a cop for a while.

Wait, wasn't he dealing directly with mercenaries in 3? Shit, Im the most vague on 3 now:lol

F*** you MEL!!! You turn down MAD MAX and sign up for this????

Nah the first one was dealing with Mercs, LW3 was dealing with the gun smugglers and dirty cop JACK TRAVIS!

LW > MM

3 did have that badass scene with the helicopters coming in from the ocean and gunning down that father though, right? That shit was hardcore:lol

Also, Butters getting emotional over the dead bodies was classic.

Butters: Ah, shit! He's dead, man! He's fuckin' dead, man! Yeah, this is how he wanted to come to America, right?! Where was he, in The Killing Section? This guy's been shot 4 times! At close range, like he was executed!
Murtaugh: He WAS executed!
Riggs: Yeah, by the crew!
Butters: What the FUCK, man?! We got people gettin' killed left, right and center in this town; now we're IMPORTING victims?! Hey, gangbangers wanna kill each other? No problem! You or me, one of us gets shot? Hey, occupational hazard! But just a normal guy, THIS fuckin' guy?! What the fuck did he ever do to anybody?! That ain't right!!

Look at this badge, bitch. Check out the GUN!

Strangely, I would agree with that. I love The Road Warrior (best of the three, no question), but I can only watch it a few times a year. Lethal Weapon 1 or 2, on the other hand...man, that shit can be on TNT on a Saturday afternoon and I'll gladly sit my ass down and watch it, commercials and editing-for-content be damned. Or I'll find the DVDs and pop them in with some good beer in-hand.

Are you counting 4 in your mathematical equation??

You're still confusing the first movie with the third. The cops taking down Michael Hundsacker (sp?) is from LW1!

Scullibundo said:
Absolutely. In fact, nothing in the MM films even reaches LW4's final confrontation on the wharf.

wow ok... I can't hate on you for having an opinion.. but surviving in the RW/MM world on the whole trumps two middle aged men beating up someone the really should have no way defeating any day..

shit man, TNT needs to get back to playing Lethal Weapon 24/7 again.
