What are some good romance games?

Bebpo said:
os those of us without girlfriends can take solace in articficial women?.

Real women are highly over-rated.

Viva Pinata has lots of romance in it, but I don't think that is what you are looking for.

Hmm....I've played all the ones listed besides Kimi Ga Nozuu Eiien (watcheed the anime) and Sakura Taisen 3...
Horrible anime :(, didn't like the ending the Haruka should've gotten the guy, or so I think that was her name.

You've probably played it already but

White Album

easily the best romance game i ever played..

To heart isnt that bad.. but... a little bit too cheesy

Wasn't there an old PC game once called "Tender Loving Care", maybe that's what you need?

Edit: I just realized how that sentence could be perceived as demeaning, it wasn't meant like it :lol

Even though I like FFVIII as a game, I didn't like the romance element at all because I hated Rinoa's personality- she was weak and spoiled and annoying. Squall should have gone with Quistis instead.

I said what? and then wow!

Princess Maker(You raise a girl to become a great hero/princess/dominatrix/??? and then marry her...if you want)
True-Love(Even though I sucked at the game and only got the pity-sex scenes) :(

In Capcom's mix of love simulation, adventure and idol disc, you take on the role as a rookie cameraman and take pictures of the girls in their best look and pose during each photo session. The further you process in the game, you will be able to interact with the hotties and take their pictures, rank them and finally trade them with friends. You will also be able to play a couple of mini fames with your favorite idol.

FTW. =P

There are lot of those ero/bishoujo S/RPGs from Alice Soft, Pajama Soft, Eushully, Leaf and others that got praises from eroge players, but I don't play them so I don't know how good those games actually are in the context of well... normal console JRPGs.

I usually prefer pure love ADVs, currently going through this...

Makoto Shinkai did awesome inside animation for the game.

Play the Green Green games
Absolutely Hillarious, and futaba rules

If you like horror, check out School Days, or Summer Days, fully animated adventures

PSP try out the Yarudora Series, Fully animated stories involving girls with amnesia.

Shira Oka

I do not know when the game is coming out but it is a the closest thing to a Tokimeki Memorial we would ever get in English.

Please donate a PS2 devkit for Okashi Studios. I think the prices for PS2 debug kits have gone down low and the interface shouldn't be too hard to code the entire game within PS2 Linux for a development team

If you're looking for a serious answer...

Max Payne 2 has by a cyclopian margin the best romantic tale told in a videogame.

Damn guys stop bringing up those lame love-sims/hentai games! They are a) obvious b) all similar and c) jerking off material.

Romance in games is pretty damn rare though. Obviously a lot of RPGs come into the frame with certain relationships and love interests, mainly FF games....

Max payne 2 and Half life 2+episode 1. These games not only have the best romances, but also trump everything in character realism. I wish all games would be writen this well :(

Max payne 2 is the correct answer

Definitely.

It's the only game I can think of actually. And it's great. And since Im not going to do a better job of wording it today:

So there ya go.

WTF? FF VIII has the perfect love story

Perfectly lame, yes. A good reminder of how dumb can be a love story with desires of being something more.

At least a Tokimeki know what it is and what it needs for working, I would take that over FF VIII "love story" anytime. Is still better than the real thing, I will give you that.

Tokimeki Memorial

FTW!

Can you read Japanese? Because there is less romance in TokiMemo than Sonic the Hedgehog. The dialog is incredibly dry:

"Are you free Thursday at 4pm?"
'Yes.'
"Ok. I'll meet you at the concert hall."
'Ok.'
next day
"Hello!"
'Hi, have you been waiting long?'
"Nope. I just got here. Let's go inside."
after concert
"Did you enjoy the music?"
'Yeah, they're my favorite band! I had a great time. Bye.'
"Bye!"

Repeat for the entire duration of game. I don't know HOW that series got popular. It has the most one-dimensional characters and emotionless dialog of any game I've ever played. I am completely convinced that people recommend this game only because they don't understand the language. There can be no other explanation.

I'm not sure if this means love stories, or pervo games.

Lunar, which I love, is cute, but kinda ultimately pretty unsatasfying in terms of a love story.

Actually, I don't think there's a single one that's ever been really geniune or moving. Outside of the ending of Lufia II, which is still the best ending ever.

RE4.

It was a quick romance that ended in tragedy.

MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKEEEEE!!!

You sir, are a genius.

My answer: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Necrophilia FTW

And FFX's love story completely stomped on FFVIII. I hated the love story in VIII, it was totally pushed on the player.

Ah, my kinda thread. Have you played Ever17? I'll probably get flamed over this but Memories Off > Tokimeki Memorial.

Hmm....I've played all the ones listed besides Kimi Ga Nozuu Eiien (watcheed the anime) and Sakura Taisen 3...

Since all the prefab solutions are letting you down, you have no choice but to summon up some DIY spirit and fashion your own robot girl from scratch.
