What are the best gaming video series on YouTube?

For Let's Players:
Chuggaaconroy
NintendoCapriSun
JoshJepson
SlimKirby
HCBaily

Are my favorites. All have great personality and actually have some substance too. Most of them play majority Nintendo games though, not sure if that's your cup of tea or not.

And TotalBiscuit is great for variety, I've been watching his channel more than any others lately.

davidr64yt has a Minecraft series called X's Adventures in Minecraft. My son and I loved this series although as it is two years old its going to be out of date compared to the current minecraft version. Clean language and good commentary, not annoying.

Ya I love it too. It is my favorite minecraft series. I kinda miss the old simple days of minecraft. I even rehosted his lost video because it kept getting taken down.

I like Lazy Game Reviews, the reviews are informative and generally cover some fairly unknown or now-forgotten titles. Plus I enjoy the host's delivery, he seems like he'd be cool to BS with.

I also saw that Greg Sewart has a series called Generation 16 where he's covering Genesis/Mega Drive games starting from the beginning. These are pretty interesting if you enjoy that system's games.

I only watch one thing and that Videogames Awesome!

Just 2 of many highlights down below. They generally do complete walkthrough of games, but they also do first-looks and trailer shows.

What sets them apart for me is the dynamic between the cast members, it's all very positive, not cynical like so many others. They just play for fun and it shows. The show is purely for entertainment so if you expect good gameplay out of these guys look elsewhere.

Their playthough of VVVVVV is genius too, if only to watch Fraser's (that's the main honcho and the one that mostly plays on the show) pure torture, but when he does succeed, I know I was there cheering along with them.

Fraser's greatest moment (beating VVVVVV's Veni Vidi Vici starting at 6:30)

Seconded! Kikoskia is brilliant. Of particular note are his X-COM videos (in which he names all of his soldiers after characters from his past LPs, like "Amanda from Mystic Quest," "Foster," "Awesome Possum," "Barry," and even "That XDR Plane"). Also, I really enjoy his Doom videos. He just cracks me up. He definitely doesn't blaze through the games, but you can tell he genuinely enjoys them and finds the littlest things to appreciate.

Are there any playthrough channels where the person playing just doesn't speak at all, I'd rather watch them play and hear the game rather than listen to someone drone on.

She's not very well known, but Pinkkittyrose's Let's Plays don't have talking - just text boxes. That's true of the single-player games she does, anyway; the multiplayer games have speech.

Chrontendo (also Chronsega/Chronturbo from the same guy, Dr. Sparkle) is my absolute favorite. Videos (he's up to about 44 episodes right now) covering the whole history of the Famicom, with looks at every single game released in chronological order. The "big hits" get in depth looks, but there's a load of detail on his reviews, mentioning why some games are important in the Famicom canon, little developer trivia here and there, etc.

Definitely recommend Chrontendo for any fan of retro games.

Delicious Cinnamon's Pokemon Vietnamese Crystal in which two idiots play a bootleg Vietnamese version of Pokemon Crystal. Despite their complete incompetence in playing Pokemon, it's well worth watching simply to see the mistranslations.

Ggorondie's Battle Log in which she plays Fire Emblems 8, 9, 10, and, in the future, the Mass Effect series. This video I linked is her very first video in which she has a crappy mic. She gets a better one at some point. As time passes, her videos get more and more professional and well-made. She edits out boring things and whatnot, and in her later playthroughs, pre-plays FE chapters so the videos are not just her bumbling around the whole time. She also her her brother playing with her, and I find that having someone else present is a great way to cut down on idiocy. I guess her big strength is funny commentary, of course, and improvising on crappy dialogue.

And not a video I guess but Angie Gallant dates pigeons in Hatoful Boyfriend - a pigeon dating sim! What more is there to say, really. Spoiler alert - eventually Angie gets banned from Quarter to Three and the series continues on Broken Forum.

Always ready to hit you with obscure gems, and the enthusiasm is super-infectious.

HCG is probably one of my favorites because of his enthusiasm, and he talks about a lot of games that could use more attention. I like that he went so far as to do that extended salute to the Ys series on its 25th anniversary. That was really nice.

I also check out TotalBiscuit more so for the mail box than "WTF is", and I like CGR for its comprehensiveness, and the host's voice is hypnotic.

These guys aren't bad either. ;P
