What are the best tips for any game you can give?

Universal tops for all games

Lost? Look for lit up areas.

Never pull a switch until you've explored the area first.

Extraction is the most dangerous part of any mission. Be ready for a fight.

If you're after collectibles, use the objective waypoint as a guide for which direction not to go . Also, explore every landmark.

Considering I just did this a few minutes ago by sheer accidental luck, I think I'll share. In Bloodborne, Make Contact with Motherbrain in the pit for at least 30 seconds. If you search every nook and cranny you'll know what I mean.

To do a 360 move in Street Fighter, you only need to rotate the stick/pad 270 degrees so that you touch all four cardinal directions (right, down, left, up).

Max Payne 3:

Cover is for taking a quick breather. Learning to shootdodge will make you way more efficient. Chances are the game will be more fun for you too.

I used to read a magazine with a tips & tricks section for games. Super Mario 64 had the following tip: "To open up the cannon outside of the castle, collect 120 stars."

Years later the same magazine had this tip for Super Mario 64 DS: "To get the keys, grab the bunnies."

Sunless Sea

Turn your lights off! It's not that clearly spelled out (except in one loading screen I think), but having your lights on burns fuel faster, and fuel is your main expenditure early on. Plus you get to sneak by tough enemies instead of trying to run away from them while they attack you and damage your hull (which also costs $ to repair).

Ignore the top screen, randomly spam the dpad -
The World Ends With You

It's pretty effective, although I was able to master both screens and it hence became one of my favorite games

Never fly straight for more than a few seconds.

Dumb-fire your torpedoes, or else the capital ship you're firing them at will shoot them down.

Prioritize bombers over fighters.

Target the shield generators on top of the command tower first.

Never fly with shields and lasers at full recharge.

Shmups: Learn the controls. Chances are that "shoot" and "bomb" are not the only buttons available. A slowdown/focus button in particular can be a game-changer.

Arcade racing games: Learn the drifting controls. Some games use the brake, other games use the handbrake.

Fighting Games:

  • Become comfortable using just the basic buttons of the character of your choice.
  • Practice high-to-moderate damage combos with the fewest button presses required.[consistent damage, low-execution barrier]
  • Respond to opponent pressure.
  • React to opponent mistakes.
  • Look at losses as lessons
  • Training mode is your best friend. (Remember to practice combos with "block after 1st")
  • Mostly importantly. Don't forget to have fun.

Super Ghouls N Ghosts - The crossbow and green/gold armor upgrade will make the Red Devil your bitch.

Streets of Rage 2 - continuously jab enemies (by pressing the B button a second at a time, instead of mashing) to gain more points and completely incapacitate them.

- Well timed jump kicks will take care of most bosses. Especially if you have them backed against a wall (not offscreen).

Star Fox 64 - Locking on to and firing at a target that's in close proximity to others will grant you more points (which is really helpful in expert mode).

Donkey Kong 64 - When fighting K.Rool as Chunky, wait until Rool's groin matches up with Chunky's head before charging the primate punch.

- Do not save at Hideout Helm until you get all the banana medals, as doing so will lock out the medals, making 101% completion impossible (real dick move by Rare).

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 - When playing "The Giant" in zombies mode, always leave at least one zombie alive by the end of a round to give yourself time to buy whatever you need. This can be made even easier by making the last zombie(s) crawlers (blowing off their legs with an explosive or a ray gun).

Ninja Gaiden 2 - When fighting The Archfiend in the Poisoned Blood segment, use a charged arrow to hit its head, then quickly auto aim the arrows at the orb on its chest to damage it. Do not manually aim, as it takes too much time.

Wait for Shadow.

Ride the bike in Towson.

Klobb is useless.

Don't stress over trophies.

Turn off winning by pin in any old wwf or wcw game

When at a fork in the road, go as far down one until you find a dead-end and only then follow the other to its conclusion.

FFXIII took the biscuit by putting a treasure chest right behind you most of the time!

Monster Hunter
Dont get hit. Hit it until it dies.

Learn your weapons.
Learn your prey.

Tab left to the fresh, final page of your item box. Use it to organise your most-used and most-crafted items like potions, traps, tranqs etc as otherwise when you make them and use up all materials they can be hard to spot as they land in the first blank spot available. It'll also make it much quicker to restock your pouch with the essentials when hunting online for extended periods, and won't get messed up by fresh materials you put in there.
