What are the chances of disappointment after GDC?

So many people including myself are expecting big things to come out of GDC. Im hoping to see Xbox's year ahead with info of Gears 2, Fable 2, Alan Wake, Too Human and more.

The same goes with Sony and most are hoping to hear about LBP, HOME(launch?) and more.

Is there much chance that were gonna be left high and dry after this one -without all the big announcements?
 
it happens 95% of the time you look forward to any of these sort of conferences, even when promises are made beforehand. so yes, pre-moisten your eyes
 
It could be really high but if you think about it where else can they bust out with the news!?! E3 is not till July and it's somehow less important so they have to bust out at GDC.
 
It looks like Too Human is going to have a big presence there. So long as that's the case, I'll be happy enough about the conference.
 
Your level of disappointment is associated closely with your level of expectation. I have none for GDC, therefore anything will be a bonus.

Thats what I was thinking. MS and Sony both need to come out from the dark on a few issues too.
 
I hope at GDC that Capcom announce that the rest of the world will finally be able to buy Puzzle Fighter on PSN. I think my chances of good news are excellent.
 
I love all the interviews, articles, podcasts, and looks at indie games that come out of GDC. I won't be disappointed.
 
Well we should get allot from Sony, because they have allot of games slated for this year. Expect more teasers though, as the second half of the year is stacked. E3 will be sick this year!

Killzone 2 meh.

Resistance 2 + GoW 2 = yes please :D
 
- they don't say a date for wii fit yurop.
- They don't show Animal Crossing Wii
- They don't show and say a date for wii music
- they don't reveal anything other than "rearange the fridge"

yeah, thats it :) so i'll be disappointed :(
 
Pretty damn high, some idiots will start sprouting a week or 2 out that THIS, THIS AND THIS WILL BE THERE OMG!!!!!!! and get everyone amped the fuck up......... and it wont, then it will be ZOMG THEY LIED, my monies on Sony being the one caught holding the spear that killed Jesus come the end of it......... just cause people will troll the shit out of anything they show and make shit up etc.......... like usual.:D
 
I think there's a good chance of dissapointment for those expecting a blowout for MS's lineup. GDC just isn't the place for that

But I think we'll get some great stuff out of GDC. More than any previous year
 
I feel especially bad for the person expecting a FFVII REmake announcement from GDC.

And you know their is one out there.
 
Given the prices being charged for admission this year, you'd think Ueda was handing out finished copies of TRICO.

Disappointment imminent, as always.
 
i think you'll see a handful of announcements, but i think it'll be E3 before you get the bulk of them. both will probably be disappointing though.
 
MS better reveal something...even if it is just over thier games for this year. Ill be content

Games I want to see
LBP, Resistence 2, Alan Wake, Too Human, Infinite Discovery/Star Ocean, Dragon Age, Gears of Wars 2, Prototype, Imfamous, Boarderlands, APB, and thats about all I can think of off the top of my head.

Games I don't want see anything from
Killzone 2...proven to pretty much be following the same path as the original. OMG great graphics and "glowing" previews. Time for demo or bust. Gameplay was **** in the first one. And I can't tell that from videos or previews if its gotten any better.
MGS4...RELEASE ALREADY.:lol
Fable 2...I want something more fresh then a walk through with the pet or something like that. I want to see the entire picture...but I dont we will get that...so...dont show anything:lol
RE5...if its not playable...your toying with my emotions capcom.
 
Realistically, I'm expecting WiiWare details to be revealed. Probably will be disappointed by many details, while some game will look very sweet.

Unrealistically, I hope Nintendo presents a solution to the short storage the Wii suffers.
 
I'll be shocked if a single thing comes out of GDC that piques my interest. To qualify as interest it has to be an announcement about something new i haven't seen before.

Here's what will probably happen, we'll get more of the same old clips of LBP, MGS4, and Home (seriously i'm tired of the presentations that include these, just release them already..), and we'll probably get info and screens on KZ2, Infamous, and The Agency. All info that could be released without some kind of conference/show.
 
I'm not expecting anything news-wise out of Nintendo, but I'm still really looking forward to the event just for Sakurai's speech. Oh, and the sessions on the development of Wii Ware and Wii Fit should be really interesting as well. Looking forward to the conference for the same reasons as last year, really -- just interested in hearing/reading what some of the prominent devs at Nintendo have to say. E3 is where the real news is at.
 
Keep in mind that, most folks around here seem to forget that events like this..GDC, E3..are not for the fans...are not for the general public to drive sales crazy from that day on...are not..well, to us..

But is mostly for the media, publications, people "inside"..
Heck, E3 was always funny to watch..around here, but for the reactions. "Ugh I want more footage".. "Ugh, less talk!!"..

Is like they expect Microsoft to send any rep and say: "Hi, I'm from Microsoft and here are all games coming to the Xbox 360..." "Trailer starts: "Halo 4, Fable 3, Jet Set Radio X, Shenmue 3, etc etc etc.." ..the rep returns... "Oh, and we just bought Square-Enix, Nintendo and Sega..Here's trailers for the games they are making: Vagrant Story II, Chrono Triggers, Super Mario Beyond, Sonic Classic........ ...Bye! oh, and all Live Gold members will receive a copy of Vagrant Story II...tomorrow via UPS"
 
Rational people: Sir, the possibility of GDC successfully meeting GAFspectations is approximately 3,720 to 1.

seriously. there might be some interesting stuff, but it won't come out of GDC, but likely like when MS had a press party one night. for the most part, this is a conference for devs and industry folk to learn stuff, pitch their products, exchange info and network.
 
We were lucky with last year's GDC because of the keynote speeches by Harrison and Miyamoto. I'm not so sure about this year, maybe a few tidbits.
 
Last year's GDC was pretty exciting for Sony. HOME revealed. Little Big Planet revealed. Those are some pretty big announcements to drop.

I hope this year has some nice game announcements at GDC, particularly from MS since they have yet to show their cards for '08. Don't expect anything playable, but I do hope we see some media including video footage.

I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment, but I expect to see quite a lot at GDC.

Wasn't that simply for the Gaming 2.0 keynote? Both of those titles are somewhat relevant for developers being that they want them involved with them.
