No doubt I'm forgetting several.

I listened to the first 300 JRE podcasts, and maybe 20 since then. I just can't listen to him interrupt his guests to show them YouTube videos of animals that scare him anymore.

Haha! Very good point.
He's def not perfect and when you listen to someone as much as that (I've done the same) there are certain things about them that start to annoy you.

Overall I think it's a good podcast though and he's def been very inspiring for me.

Giant Bombcast is great.

Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast is fucking fantastic.

And this is by far the best podcast around. The only problem with it is the time in-between episodes. Granted I would rather long wait times than lower quality shows. His Common Sense show is also really interesting.

I tried getting into Giant Bomb but it was just sooo.... Bland

Baseball:

Effectively Wild: The Daily Baseball Prospectus Podcast (What's the deal with Brady Aiken?)
Drunk Jays Fans (Blue Jays talk, last bit of the Getting Blanked podcast we're getting)
The Jonah Keri Podcast (General, league wide baseball with a medium SABR leaning)
The Prodcast (California baseball and Rock & Roll)
Sportsfeld (General sprots and stories to make your life seem comparably OK)

Games:

Bombcast (You've listened and made up your mind by now)
8-4 (Ditto?)
Player 1 Podcast (401 episodes)
Tone Control (Steve Gaynor {@fullbright} talks to industry people you probably know the names of IE: Jonathan Blow and Ken Levine. Super inside baseball stuff)

Comedy:

Todd Barry Podcast (Hotels and frequent flyer miles. Todd Barry is awesome)
Glibert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast (New, but a strong start. Jeff Ross episode was great)
U Talkin' U2 to Me? (So good. Adam Scott Aukerman talk rarely about U2)
By The Way, in Conversation With Jeff Garlin (Live conversations with his favourite people)
WTF With Maron
Comedy Bang Bang
Never Not Funny
Analyze Phish (It's back!)
Andy Daly Pilot Project

Listened to 3 Bill Burr podcasts after hearing the Yoko Ono rant

Too much sports talk
He seems genuinely mysoginistic and homophobic under the guise of 'but it's comedy'
People who rant about things and then say 'I don't give a fuck' should be shot into space

Might drop it

Talkins hit used to be gold, but when Jim Jeffries walked out on it, it went down the tubes. He might be back now I dunno.

CAG - my favourite still after all these years been listening since maybe 2006/7

The Patch - good overall, although i tend to find various RT people on there not that
interesting.. i.e. Ashely to me tries way to hard at everything

RT - Great random every week

Uninformed - Funny, new random topic each week

DLC - Very good, one of the better gaming podcasts each week

8 - 4 - Good, although very long and sometimes theres so many people all talking at once I can't hear anything, not to mention it has audio problems every so often.

Call of Podcast - Good, although has audio problems from time to time.

Used to listen to Major Nelson years ago but shows got really boring, boring guests and turned into an hour and a half infomercial each week

idle thumbs - the goat, and will alert us when the robots try to take over
giant bombcast - my background noise to long grindy gaming sessions
superbestfriendcast - a bit of everything mixed into a glorious mess
australian gamer podcast - gone now, but when the right mixture of drunkenness and arguing got going, glorious

You're right about the sports talk. He is far from homophobic or misogynistic though.

8-4 Play
Podcast Beyond

I used to listen to Player One, Bombcast, Geekbox, Am I bugging You?, Rebel FM but they all fell off as of late...IMO

Damn I miss the 1up days

+1 for Cagcast. Been a loyal listener since 2006/2007.

8-4 Play and Garnett on Games if I finish Cagcast before the next episode comes out.

I used to listen to a lot of podcasts but now i'm only listening to four:

Gaming:
Giant Bombcast
PS Nation

Other:
The Thinking Atheist
The Skeptics Guide to the Universe

I'm gonna start listening to Tested's podcast again, haven't listened to any episodes since i got my new phone (which i got like two months ago).

Haha! Very good point.

Overall I think it's a good podcast though and he's def been very inspiring for me.

An hour of arguing with Neil Tyson over the validity of the moon landing is what did it for me. Sometimes getting high as fuck isn't the best of ideas.

Did he never come back? I listened to that podcast a couple years ago and stopped shortly after he left.

I listened until about 2 months ago on and off and he never came back in that time. The other 2 guys are funny but it's just not the same.

The Adam Carolla Show, Giant Bombcast, and Your Mom's House are the 3 I've been listening to lately. Your Mom's House is the one I've been listening to the longest.

I used to listen to the Joe Rogan Experience a lot. I can barely tolerate the guy in small doses now. I also used to listen to Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast. Not really sure why I stopped with that one.

Agreed on Rogan. I used to listen to him all the time, and he's usually good with Duncan Trussell, Joey Diaz, Chris Ryan, Bill Burr, and Chris Ryan, Burt Kreischer, but the guy seriously circle jerks the same lines about pot and its benefits entirely too much. We get it, you dig weed. Talk about something else now. He has done some great shows with Trussell though.

What podcast app does everyone use?

I was holding out for Overcast but I dont like it that much

I've been using Stitcher.com for years now, starting with my ancient Blackberry. It's free, keeps track of when you've stopped listening to episodes (across different devices), and has a web app. You can either stream episodes so they aren't taking up space, or you can select podcasts to download for offline listening.

may have missed it but didn't see it mentioned, which is surprising since it has a few somewhat known personalities in the gaming world:

It can be a bit underwhelming when one of the hosts is away or when there's a truncated show, but often there are neat factoids and fun moments that get told from a trivia enthusiast's perspective rather than from academics or field experts.

All Games Interactive was the best when it existed... :'(

Is U Talkin' U2 to Me actually about U2? I fucking hate U2, but I hate Phish and Analyze Phish is one of my favorite podcasts of all time. Is U Talkin' worth listening too?

I think this happens to everyone. I had listened to about 10 of his shows and recommended his podcast on GAF. Several people, including ToxicAdam, I think, warned me that his schtick would get old quickly. Sure enough, it did. On top of that, he's turned into a huge shill for brain pills and has started treating his staff and regular guests like shit. He seems very on edge and defensive nowadays. Sure, he was never funny in the least, but he was a lot more chilled out and could have a decent conversation a year or so ago. But at some point, you get sick of the psuedoscience shilling, the snake oil salesmen guests, and having Joe regurgitate some fact he doesn't understand but sounded somewhat impressive the first time he said it.

Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast (75% listened to each week)
The Fighter and the Kid (50% listened)
Sinica (from Popup Chinese - 50%)
This American Life (100%)
Back in My Play (10% - only if it's a game/guest I like)
Player One Podcast (100%, but only make through a quarter of them)

You'll learn all sorts of facts about U2, such as the names of the band members and how to say Achtung Baby.

You should listen to a few that have the lovely Nia on. You'll agree with her more than him, and he always backs down when he says something that's admittedly stupid. However, if you don't like sports talk, you should probably drop it. Sports are a minimum 30% of his material.

I'll usually listen to Pardon the Interruption on the way home from work. If you're a new football/soccer fan, you have to check out Men in Blazers. Two British ex-pats who infuse their sports talk with lots of pop culture references. User emails are referred to by "ravens" due to their love of Game of Thrones.

Yeah It's That Bad and We Hate Movies. They both review bad movies and are pretty funny.
Unfortunately, due to some kind of personal reasons, Yeah It's That Bad stopped and took down all their episodes from their website and itunes, so you can only get the episodes from torrent sites now.

Also, The Bugle.

I've been listening to Never Not Funny for years, it's what got me in to podcasts.

Probably my favorite is The 40 year old boy podcast. He's a great story teller, former stand up who is just hilarious but has issues and if you listen to the show for a while you feel like you really know him. He did an episode after his wife left him that was devastating. Best single episode of any podcast I've ever heard.

I stick mostly to comedy podcasts, some football ones in the fall. I probably listen to about 20 or so, but some I don't listen to regularly, just catch up when I'm in the mood.

The Crabfeast is another podcast I'd highly recommend. It's comedians mostly telling stories, and it's great.

For those using Overcast, is there a way to "force" a sync, as if I listen to say 20 minutes on my laptop and then get into my car, it doesnt always sync with my iPhone and my playback is out of sync.

I really like everything else about it however. Plus it gives me a chance to break away from iTunes :p

Tried some of the offshoot GFW podcasts but didn't keep up with any of them. Don't listen to a single gaming podcast anymore. I'll go though this thread and try some out. Only one I am listening to currently is the What Say You podcast from Sal and Q from Impractical Jokers. Used to listen to the comicbook men one The Secret Stash but their commercials and selling of special one off podcasts started taking up more than half the episodes I bailed.

Wanted to chime in that I too used to listen to a lot of the Joe Rogan Experience, even the Ice House Chronicles, but then I got tired of the ads, the MMA talk, and the pseudo-science. Luckily, I did hang on to Ari Shaffir, who is much more charismatic an interviewer/comedian, so I listen to his podcast The Skeptic Tank instead.

I tried getting into Giant Bomb but it was just sooo.... Bland

Same here. I saw it recommended so much that I gave it a shot and didn't see what all the fuss was about. I mean, it's okay, but there are more interesting video game podcasts out there.

Football ramble, for football stuff.

Giantbomb and idlethumbs for gaming

Common sense and hardcore history are great too, and radiolab usually pretty interesting too.

And the king of them all, the Ricky Gervais show. Karl pilkington makes this the greatest podcast ever created, it has ended but well worth going forward to.

I stopped listening to Ramble because they were shitting on Arsenal for like 6 podcasts in a row.

U Talkin U2 To Me is actually just a compilation of some of the best podcasts on the internet, including but lot limited to "Talkin bout Turtle", "I Love Films", and "2's Clues". It's definitely worth listening to!
