Ramen Noodle chips

you open the bag, sprinkle the seasoning throughout, reseal and crumble.

rinse repeat 3-5 times and you have exhausted enough calories not to die today for about 2-4 dollars. have resorted to this many of times back in the day...

They're better dry.

I used to do this a lot, especially with the spicy flavors. It's pretty tasty.

There it is.

Bread with butter on both sides, and cooked on a griddle till golden brown on both sides.

It's pretty great, but also really not that filling.

The $1 frozen burritos you can get at almost every grocery store

I keep 2 in the freezer just in case my schedule gets all messed up and I miss dinner with the family. I call it them my emergency rations

Growing up dirt poor it was basically rice or potatoes if we were lucky, or nothing if we weren't. I learned to cook really young, so pancakes sans syrup or boxtie (potato pancakes) were something my sister and I ate a lot.

Back then staples were cheap so you could have milk, butter, flour, eggs, and bread around for very little money.

It used to be instant ramen, but I ate it too much and now it makes me sick.

Now it's white rice, tortillas or random un-sauced pasta, lol.

Also pancakes. Powdered pancake mix is surprisingly cheap and makes multiple meals worth, so yeah, that was a big one.

I don't really keep bread around (I don't eat it enough to justify the cost since over half always goes bad), so sandwiches are out of the question.

oh and lol at the Starbucks struggle meal. smh

I'm on maternity leave with a 6 month old right now so I have a lot of struggle lunches when I'm alone with him and just trying to get something in my stomach before he needs me.

This is my struggle sandwich I had a few weeks ago and had to take a picture for my husband to see. Hotdog, ketchup, mustard.

Asian instant ramen.

Heat boiling water in an electric kettle.

Throw in an egg on dry ramen for protein.

Cover. Wait. Eat.

Back when I was in college, I could get a couple of boxes of pasta roni for a dollar. I would add canned tuna and frozen corn/peas. Each box would last two to three meals.

That poor baby =[

The European/Scandinavian open sandwich
"Currywurst", i.e. sausage drowned in ketchup & curry powder
Tortilla chips with garlic salsa and greek yogurt
Mixed nuts & carrots

haven't/dont need a struggle meal in years...

in college I would make a salad out of a can of tuna, franks hotsauce, an avocado, and romaine.... pretty tasty salad actually.

weenie mac is another - kraft/velveeta + chopped hotdogs.

i mean this is essentially a normal "hotdog" just prepared on a square bun instead of a real hotdog bun...

Tuna + Mayonnaise + Cooked Pasta. Straight out of the saucepan the pasta was cooked and drained in, because I'm not going to add more washing up to this miserable container of deliciousness.

If the struggle's not so bad I'll cube some cheddar, maybe add a little garlic and diced onion with some sweetcorn.

I was hankering for PB&J.

Call it nostalgia.

But I never have jelly, so I subbed the jelly with honey BBQ sauce lol.

Not bad!

Just had some Triscuits with melted cheddar cheese and habanero hot sauce on top.

I enjoyed it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Ramen in the microwave with a slice of cheese added after taken out so it melts and makes it creamy, i eat this 3-4 times a week. Sometimes ill add crumbled chips or random seasoning i have around, like lemon pepper. Sometimes ill eat a chip sandwich, or just make a grilled cheese.

Cutting slices of cheese from a large block (can get a huge block of cheese for relatively cheap amount/slice) and eating it on saltines (store brand obviously).

- tortilla, lunch meat, cheese, maybe mayo, maybe mic it

- when I worked at BK, suffering through my struggles, I would take a cheese slice off the board and wrap it around a newly hot chicken tender. Fucking god-like. Especially if it's the mozz cheese from the italian chicken.

- ramen, drain, add butter and the seasoning packet (oriental flavor is best), instant tasty side dish we used to serve on the side of pork chops, steaks, etc.

The rock of the struggle. I boil it, rinse the starch from the noodles and put em aside. Then I start a shallow pot of chicken broth, don't even touch the seasoning packet, and make my own broth with soy sauce, mirin and black pepper. Pour over noodles and top with a softboiled egg and/or meat scraps and you have a struggle meal to lift the spirits.
