What are your "WTF, why did I play this so much?" games?

I think I have like 600 hours for PSO episode I & II for the GameCube...

The weird thing is, I never once went online to achieve that amount :O

Ok, I knew this game was fun from all the praise it has been getting but I did not expect to play 3 hours last night and not get to another island.

But it's Sooooooo Goooooood.

This. Spent way too much time playing WoW and nothing else, missed out on a lot of other games because of it.

My account runs out tomorrow and I don't plan on renewing it.

Hopefully.

I'm going to have to say Lost Eden for the PC - it was a point and click adventure game developed by Cryo (the guys behind the original Dune game) and has the distinct honour of being the first graphical adventure game I ever played - previousley we'd only owned an ancient Amstrad so I was restricted to text-adventure games like HitchHiker's Guide and Adventure Quest.

Anyways, I was suitably impressed with Lost Eden and stunned by the amazing FMV graphics;

:D

But by todays standards, or even 1995 standards, it wasn't a very good adventure game. The first section was mostly running back and forth, talking to people and figuring out simple puzzles whereas the second section, and bulk of the game, sees you visiting different valleys, trying to negotiate peace between various dinosaurs, humans and apes, building citadels and successfully defending them from evil T-rex's. Beyond that, theres sod all else to do, and what there was wasn't much fun - but for some reason I just kept on playing it and playing it, until I discovered the wonders of the internet and sent a cheque to Apogee/3D Realms for Rise of the Triad, Alien Carnage & Commander Keen :p

(...)I even picked up Emerald after Pearl, just to get access to more Pokemon. I'm 29 years old. :lol
I'm 28, but I did the same. We're now three guys in the same age bracket doing exactly the same thing. How scary.
Thankfully I got burnt out by the time I apparently had to go and beat the fantastic four or whatever they're called. I've caught Palkia and Uxie&Co, so I'm content. Ah well. It was fun, and I'd do it again. Plus you can say what you want, but Pokemon isn't a horrible game.

you better don't know how atrocious this game is. It's terrible, horrendous, nonsense, with the crappiest and laziest design i've ever seen in a videogame

but I played it. A lot. And it wasn't even funny.

FFX-2.

About 220 hours.

To this day I question my manhood. ;__________________;
wow, what in the world did you do, restart new game+ over and over??

Don't feel so bad though, FFX-2 is awesome. I, however, question people who play FFX for even more hours than you played X-2.

I feel so terrible inside when I think about I got the highest rating for every level and worked like a mad man on my Chao's.

I just turned 29.

I ordered Fire Red and Leaf Green recently.

Why did I do it?

I haven't a clue. :lol

I'm showing this post to my girlfriend when I get home from work so she'll stop laughing at me.

I played Legend of Dragoon to completion. Including the 45-minute long final boss battle.

And I played the whole game using the most basic attack combo (2-hits). What the hell.

I forgot to mention possibly one of my most embarrassing Pokemon experiences. I usually hide my addiction at home. But last Saturday I ventured out to Toys R Us to download Darkrai. I was easily the oldest person there, by at least 15 years.

All I remember about this is collecting a whole shitload of "shards". The rest would need to be coaxed out by a psychiatrist or hypnotherapist.

I haven't wasted time on a bad game since I was a wee lad and had to survive on one badly-chosen game for months. Hence my desperate attempts to convince myself that Xenophobe on the NES was lots of fun.

I guess I was really into Bruce at the time. I must have beaten it 10 times.
What the fuck was I thinking?

Wait, what game is this?

It was SCEA's answer to FFVII. You played as Dart, turned into Dragoons of different elements which apparently can control the corresponding dragon (which you never actually do). It was 4 discs long. It was pretty graphically impressive for the time as well. Heres a screenshot.

Don't know why I got this, for Xbox no less... But I can't seem to stop playing it. Even when they destroy all sort of continuity and awesome by sending me to Mordor.

Haven't beaten it yet,
just got kian
, but I hope it ends soon.

What. This game is amazing, much better than the first game (no retared puzzles/toned down fairy tale bullshit).

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance! Holy crap I replayed that a few times, just because the customization was super deep

:lol

yes, you had to jump from place to place trying to collect shards. Game had no options, and no interface. It had nothing. One button to jump and stop. If you fell on the ground, you'd die. If you TOUCHED the ground, you'd die

no informative text, no stats, no fucking clue about anything. What the hell? And YET I kept playing it..maybe I was insane at that time

Pinball on my computer. I never go beyond one game, and its a piece of shit, but I get bored, and load it up.

Some of the guys I worked with last year were WinXP Pinball GODS.

Kept playing and playing. Some combo of nice-sounding sci-fi weaponry and never letting a diffculty go unbeaten kept me going. But...yeah...wtf.

Haven't done this with a lot of "substandard" games, but this one is considered the worst of the (SNES) series:

donkey-kong-country-3.jpg

But I just had to get all of the DK coins.

I also beat Nemesis on FFX (Over 100 hours) and got to Yiazmat in FF12 (over 100 hours again) before realizing I wasn't going to waste 5 hours on one enemy. I've definitely put over 100 hours into DMC3 as well.

When I was a kid, I would play this game nearly every day. I'm not quite sure I ever really had much fun with it, but being a huge TMNT fan I just kept playing. When they released TMNT II: The Arcade Game for NES I was much happier.

YES, me too. I was a huge TMNT fan, and did not have discerning tastes in gaming back then. Plus I found ''non-linear'' games like this to be really fascinating and mysterious, and I had a high tolerance for difficulty/impossibility. I used to play games like this, Castlevania 2 and Rygar for hours, and I never got anywhere near the end of them. And that didn't bother me.

Grandia_Xtreme

as of now, 450 hours. I'm trying to get all the combos, Spirit items, and unlockable items at the same time level my charas to beat lvl 200 Zentholee.

I got this for free when Blockbuster threw it away. I played it for 40+ hours. I'm not really sure why.

And on the computer side of things, I played this way too much:

PS2%20EverQuest%20Online%20Adventures.jpg

Played for hundreds upon hundreds of hours. Being my first (and so far only) MMORPG I had a lot of fun, but I am glad as hell to be out. Sold my accounts for a little over a grand though :)

I honestly don't know what you mean about Mordor. Dreamfall has a pretty awesome storyline.

Any of the Crusi'n games. For some ungodly reason, when I pass one of them, I play a round or two, despite the fact that they bow down to the awesomeness of Daytona USA 2. And yet, I CAN'T STOP PLAYING. On one Crusi'n Exotica machine, I racked up at least 150 wins. :D

One of the most clichéd RPGs I've ever played, and it was a complete bore to play.

Yet I still beat it.

*sigh* I did the same thing.

Whatever games were at the computer lab at school, mostly. All notable because I would not only sink a lot of time into them, but replay the same parts again and again. I won't get into my love-hate relationship with Carmen Sandiego, but Gold Rush! stands out in my memory as the next worst, with this one save I had that I'd stubbornly load up and go get killed in the jungle by ants from all the time. And the thing was, there was tetris; I liked tetris! I wasn't like I didn't have a choice. But I would just stubbornly go after the same games and get nowhere with them.

Most other games that I've spent a lot of time with I just liked without any complex issues.
