I started by E-Career on the Xbox.com forums back in the Xbox1 days. Over time, those forums became a ghost town. Nobody posted there, except for about 10 regulars.
Looking for a more active forum, I signed up at GameSpot. I lasted there for about 2yrs before I got sick & tired of GS' crazy mod policy. Their mods have to keep that place "Safe for 13yr olds" and will mod you for the dumbest shit.
GAmeSpot has 2 main forums: System Wars and Off-Topic. System Wars is basically a troll's paradise, but if you call out fanboys for being stupid, you're the one who will most likely get modded and/or suspended. Their OT forum is a little better, but it still has to be safe for 13yr olds. Thus, most of the topics are bland & very boring....not to mention skewed for a younger audience. I seriously felt like an old man (I'm now 29) when I posted there.
I can't believe it took me 2yrs to get tired of GameSpot. I still post my gaming blog there, but that's about it. Such shit forums.
So "What Brought Me to NeoGAF"? Besides wanting to be part of a community/forum where game devs, press, and publishers hang out, I just wanted to be treated like an adult online (instead of a treated like a kid over at GameSpot). And because GAF is really active.
