What could Nintendo do at E3 with Zelda UNX that would blow EVERYTHING away?

Honestly, I think it just needs to look really good. So we'll have to wait for NX footage to see how it goes. No matter how interesting the game is, they're not going to blow away E3 with a Wii U game.

Only if they make a Zelda game that you control with your mind...

Seriously, I think Zelda will be great but there will be a lot great games at E3 like the last guardian, FFXV, persona 5, etc

But but but it was meant to come out in 2015.
Then it was meant to come out in 2016.
Then it was meant to come out before Starfox.
Then it was meant to come out in 2017.
Don't do this to me please.
No, it was the other way round, Starfox was to come out before Zelda. And that one is true.

Zelda UNX

UNX = Unix

Unix = Linux

Linux = Red Hat

Red Hat = Mario

Nintendo is making a PC, that would blow minds for sure.

Well, everything is a PC nowadays, so that doesn't really blow minds, unless it's Tegra, then it's more like a phone, that doesn't really blow minds either.

Nintendo's doing exactly what they said they would!
everything's cool
I'm just correcting the quoted post, nothing more, nothing less. "Everything's cool" is something you said, not me. So, good for you, if you think so.

Link appears on a big screen...lay down

He has a smile on his face

Suddenly from behind Link a figure appears

It's Zelda....she's half naked

Sideboob is in full effect

Link is now a man

End credits....

Hopefully it won't look good based on a gimmick, but instead based on tight controls, good world design, innovative dungeons, etc.

My cynical side tells me if they base the game around a gimmick it'll either not interest people, will already have been done, or won't be fully realised.

I thought Skyward Sword's controls were going to be a real revolution for the series, same with their talk about the overworld being a dungeon in itself, and general expectations of a tight, lean game.

Instead I got something bloated with repetitive content, an actual overworld that was yet another empty void, and the controls didn't click with me to the point I put the game down and went several months without returning to it. I've NEVER done that before to a Zelda game. NEVER.

I swore off Zelda entirely until Link Between Worlds got great word of mouth and convinced me to pick it up. Yes, it had a 'gimmick', but the gimmick wasn't totally central to the experience, it enhanced core things like the world design, the dungeons, and the progression.

It's like they rediscovered what made Zelda games great. If they do that with Zelda UNX on a larger scale, I can't see anybody getting too disappointed. Blowing people away though? I dunno.

The ability to select Link's gender was obviously supposed to be one of their big reveals for the game, but that's already been spoiled for them (assuming it's real). That would've done what you're asking.
That wouldn't have been a big deal from a game design standpoint, which is what's been mentioned.

Unless the female lead character was a non-Link character, with a completely different moveset and maybe even storyline, so that you effectively get two massive and distinct Zelda games in one, though obviously set on the same map.

That would be a pretty big deal.

Leapfrogging the Witcher 3, Dark Souls 3, and Horizon is not something I think Aonuma's team is up to and thats what it would take.

Zelda will no doubt have the best dungeon puzzle design in the biz, but revealing too much of that an entire year before release would be a bad move. This E3 is gonna be a trainwreck for them.

I was reading your post thinking "YEAH BUT ANSWE THE QUESTION," then I got to that last sentence. :\ yeah. prob.

I feel like if it was going to happen, it'd be embargoed until the game came out. But I still feel like Zelda would be the logical choice of a playable female lead.

Honestly, they can't. They ran Zelda to the ground and then some, and we know they don't have the balls to make any changes in tone.

Sadly, this. ^

What E3 was it where they showed that one still pic? Which E3 was it where they showed off screen footage?

There is nothing about Zelda that would blow my mind (as a Wii U owner, I want to be proven wrong).

Expectations are pretty low and it's sad because I really want Nintendo to impress fans. My PS4 and Vita have really taken my focus away from Nintendo. And like I said before... Zelda U/NX needs to be kid-friendly Witcher 3.

Hopefully that's not their focus. The focus should be to make a thoroughly solid game, not 'one weird trick' that will get people talking. They tested the waters with ALBW and got the answers they wanted, then they were free to make a Zelda Wii U that's more independent of the console Zelda formula. That doesn't mean shifts in tone or crazy new ideas, it simply means a world that feels a little different to explore than the 3D Zeldas we've had.

Wasn't Zelda like the second most anticipated game on GAF after Uncharted 4? What happened?

I already got my Zelda scratch from Witcher 3 and other games. I'm still excited for it but Nintendo really needs to do something amazing for me to get interested. That's why I'm very curious into how they can showcase Zelda at E3.....

If they have gone back to origins of the series, arcade action set in a big world with light rpg elements and upgrades, that could be big. Another rigid Aonuma style puzzle slog isnt going to move the needle.

Too many delays, too much obvious interference with release schedules to suit the release of the NX at the expense of those fans that bought the WiiU for a new Zelda, and we've had a hell of a lot of incredible, similar open world games so far this gen that realistically Nintendo aren't going to be able to compete with, particularly when it comes to Narrative and Characters.

Add that to the generally dissatisfaction and lack of communication with Nintendo and its fanbase, and the hype train this game once had had kind of derailed and clattered to a total but surprisingly unexplossive stop.

Pretty much BUT I will say that Zelda needs an Uncovered thing like Final Fantasy XV had. If Nintendo is gonna do a similar thing to that for Zelda at E3 then that would be great.

i think the game will surprise a lot of people. not necessarily in a good or bad way, it'll just catch a lot of fans off guard.

there's obviously something going on with it... i don't think nintendo would hedge their bets on it if it was just a run of the mill zelda with an open world

Robust online multiplayer component that lets you and friends take on dungeons, quest, adventures together and also be able to explore the entire open world.

I don't think this game needs to out-witcher The Witcher. There's more than enough space for a different kind of open world, and Zelda needs to focus on what makes it different. They need to make sure the items and dungeons are intergrated well into the open world, that is Zelda's strength compared to things like The Witcher and Skyrim. Combining well designed dungeons with an interesting world and more freedom to tackle those dungeons has to be the focus, imo.

All they need for the general non-gaf gaming public to notice it are great graphics, I think. Let's be real, the reason The Witcher 3 initially got so much attention is because it's fucking gorgeous. Zelda will probaby never look that good, but it needs to impress graphically. Which is why it's not going to makes waves until we see the NX version, if ever.

*Release "making of" Zelda UNX to those preordering, show some behind the scenes at E3.
*Announce Zelda movie by studio Ghibli with art stylized after the classics. Major Japanese blockbuster?
*Reggie presents Zelda cosplaying as Darunia, Miyamoto is the Mask Salesman and both surrounded by an army of skimpily dressed, can-can Deku Scrub dancers...?
*Announce future Zelda NX VC upgrades will somehow take advantage on NX gimmick, announce price to the mixed pleasure and rage of many.
*OoT Mastet Quest finds its way to VC, Navi redubbed by Morgan Freeman...
*Nintendo show floor is like a theme park, and they announce future Zelda theme park attractions.
*Transfer save file from WiiU to NX Zelda for those interested.
*Iwata inspired NPC in Zelda U trailer, "...it's dangerous to go alone, please understand..."
*New premium toy line announced to coincide with release.

Some if this sillynes would make my head spin this year, lol.

i doubt the two versions will look much different, if at all

I honestly have no idea.

The Nintendo-loyal will love the new Zelda no matter what, and the rest of the world won't give a shit no matter what.

Zelda can also take notes from Uncharted 4 for set pieces. We need another cool escape like from Ocarina with Ganondorf's castle.

If the game is what they are kind of promising than we're talking Best Game Ever material, so there's that.

If anything I want Zelda to be less cinematic (not gonna happen I know). Zelda should be 100% gameplay and not to shit on U4 (wonderful game), but an interactive Hollywood action movie is not what I want Zelda to be.
