the stormlands.[/QUOTE]Looks like the crest of a Division 3 English football club. I can imagine "Fear the Dear" chants and banners in the stadium and some unsavory chants involving the word queer aimed at opposing teams.

That's libya's flag. Thief.

It is not like Libya still uses it, so he might as well use it. Anyways, Libya's "new" flag really does look far better:

The proportions of the color bands contrast nicely with each other and the moon and crescent fits well in the middle of the flag.

if neogaf ever has a flag it should just be:

sure, it's just an image and it would probably look terrible as a flag, but it is also the most amazing thing ever.

Well if going by design I'd choose the dragon ones as well.

But it's hard to be objective on such issues, so, with love from Greece:

I suppose it's not much to look at, but knowing its meaning makes it quite special for me:

The nine stripes are said to represent the number of syllables in the Greek phrase "Eleutheria H Thanatos", usually translated as "Freedom or Death!", a battle cry during the revolt against the Ottoman Occupation.

The equal-armed cross represents the Greek Orthodox church, the predominant religion of Greece. The Church played a crucial role in the fight for independence against the Ottomans.

The color blue represents the sea which is so important to Greece and such a major portion of its economy. The white represents the waves on the ocean. Blue has also always been a color of protection, seen in the blue eye amulets used to ward off evil, and white is seen as the color of purity.

As in Greek mythology, there are always other versions and explanations. Some say the nine stripes on the Greek flag represent the Nine Muses of Greek myth, and that the colors of blue and white represent Aphrodite rising up from the seafoam.

I like Mexico's eagle/snake symbol, but the rest is pretty lame, specially since one of the colors (white I think) represents the "official" religion, catholicism. Fuck that stuff.

Indeed, the white color chosen in 1821 by the "Ejercito Trigarante" (Army of the Three Guarantees - formed by both Mexican and Spanish insurgents in Mexico), represented faith and Catholicism, with red being the union of Europeans and Americans, and green symbolized independence from Spain. But with Juarez´ secularization movement changes were made to the color symbolism, white standing for Unity, green for Hope, and red for the Blood for the fallen national heroes. Though nowadays the law states no official meaning for the colors.

After the brief history lesson, let me post my nation´s kick ass flag, and the best in the world.

Wow, didn't know the flags were so detailed!
The eagle looks awesome, but the shit under it looks like vomit.

I like Argentina flag a lot.

Well, I think it´s actually the best part, since it symbolizes the legend of the foundation of the Great Tenochtitlan by the Aztecs, which were led by "Huitzilopochtli" their God out of Aztlan to find a land of riches and were they would find prosperity and build a new empire, and that such place would be where they sighted an eagle on a cactus devouring a snake. This is believed to have happened in early 1300s, and nowadays this land is part of Mexico Distrito Federal, the Capital City of the Country. Crazy shit, but its my country´s history and I´m quite fond of it.

I have to say the union jack looks kind of cool. Argentina and Bhutan look nice too.

France's flag is really boring, if anything I like the royal flag a lot better, all white with the lily flowers.

What can you expect from a country with a ak 47 in their flag, seriously.

Mozambique is a beautiful country man. Some of the best beaches in Africa are there.

Flag explanation: "The rifle stands for defense and vigilance, the open book symbolizes the importance of education, the hoe represents the country's agriculture, and the star symbolizes Marxism and internationalism."

There's a movement to change the flag actually.
