What do you want from Resident Evil 5?

I want Leon to be back.

I want the same re4 gameplay ...screw the corperation crap i really enjoyed the setting in re4.

Nemesis should make a return opening doors and stuff.

Honestly interms of gameplay and atmosphere re4 was near perfection for me. I dunno what else they could improve.

Though I thought RE4 definitely kept the essence of the series intact, I also know where you're coming from. I think the change was needed, and the new enemies made for more exciting gameplay. But (coming from a fanboy), I really missed the slow moving zombies, finding out what Umbrella was doing next, and so forth. I think the RE4 engine in an RE title with hordes and hordes of zombies would still be as intense and exciting as what we got in RE4. I'm just hoping all that Las Plagas bullshit has some sort of purpose, like maybe that being the original source of the T-Virus or whatever. I don't know.

I actually read the damn novels back when they first came out.

So to totally toss aside the original plot line like that was kind of frustrating to me.
I mean, to take the past games and say "And then umbrella was shut down" - and thats it?
That didn't irk anyone?

What a gloss over. I want to know what happend.

It irked me, definitely. But in a way, I'm glad
RE4 put a face to the name - now that Wesker seems to be reforming Umbrella, there's a more "solid" enemy.
But yeah, I'd like to know what happened as well.

Quoted for truth, gimme Leon Scott Kennedy over Chris anyday anytime.

I demand more zombie dogs. There were only a few in 4, but holy shit did they rape face. Probably the scariest enemy in the game besides Sal's Right Hand.

-Strafing/ability to shoot while walking like in Resident Evil Outbreak File2.
-Quick weapon select without having to go into your inventory like in Devil May Cry 3.
-Dodge button like in Resident Evil Dead Aim.
-Melee button to kick or tackle like in Resident Evil Outbreaks and Resident Evil 4.
-David King's 4 hit knife combo from Resident Evil Outbreak File2.
-If the weapons dealer returns, the ability to purchase ammo in addition to weapons.
-BETTER hit detection

So basically you just want another shoot-em up. A mock-FP Shooter really.

All i ask is that it sees the light of day on Revolution.

- playable Wesker
- flame thrower
- different kinds of melee weapons besides the knife (ax, machete, 2x4, fire extinguisher (which you could also spray to blind enemies), etc)

I want it to feel like Resident Evil. I never saw RE4 in motion, but then I get a real good look and I see no zombies... in fact the enemies are yelling phrases at you... and it's in some forrest... and you're shooting all over the place... and you're escorting someone... and the music is lacking... it just doesn't feel like Resident Evil, it seemed more like a mix between Silent Hill and Wolfenstein.

From what I can tell in the RE5 video the guy seems to be a STARS agent and there are zomies that are like the new movies coming out, so I'm hopeful.

Shit i tried to resist but i couldn't. You can't judge this game that much (in fact, you can't do this to any game) without trying it, playing it.
Dude seriously, this game gave me the more intense Resident Evil ONE feeling i've had in ANY game of the series since the first. RE4 = pure hotness.

If you want anyone to take your opinion any seriously or even just considering it please talk about something you know, play the game first.

I'm pointing out features that past Resident Evil titles had that were great additions(except DMC3 isn't a RE title). Have you played Resident Evil Dead Aim, Resident Evil Outbreak/Outbreak File2?

-Weapon switching would be cool.
-Strafing or maybe just a dodge move of some sort.
-A more complex story with multiple characters with each their own adventure. When you play it all, you see the whole picture.

All the rest have to be on par with RE4

regardless of whether these features showed up in other games (isnt Dead Aim that FPS one?) adding a strafe and melee function to this game would just give it an arcading feel. How many times in a movie do you see some one like rambo strafing back and forth? In real life, gun battles simply dont involve strafing, thats really a video game creation.

Well, we can tackle this question the other way around... you don't move in tank controls in real life either...

-- I'd also vote to continue with Leon, but really can't complain about (apparently) Chris as lead either

-- Claire is now due for a REMake+ caliber graphical update...

-- Get more fully grounded in storyline, as REMake generally managed to be. RE4 started well, but such things as the midget freak Salazar still camped it up too much. Leon confidently cracking wise between bouts of being forced to blow the heads off poor Spanish farmers didn't seem right for the character either...

-- Make the main game perhaps 3/4 at most of the length of RE4's main game, while tightening up the system to again have time-to-completion or minimal continue bonuses. Such things as random ammo drops ("TMP ammo!? I need shotgun ammo!") make that hard to design into RE4's game system.

-- Unlockable extra melee weapons awarded for merit (such as getting a certain number of knife kills during a game)

Certainly more, but that'll do for now.

Dead Aim is that lightgun fps game. It had 3rd person exploration(almost the same camera viewpoint and controls to move around like Resident Evil 4) but shifted into first person to use the Guncon for shooting enemies. Resident Evil 4 had a melee function to kick or elbow enemies if the enemies were stunned or grabbed you which was great, but I would like to see it have a dedicated button for future titles. Strafing doesn't always have to be left and right. If Resident Evil 5 has fast enemies that run after you, I would like to backup while shooting instead of stopping in place to shoot my gun. If I can't shoot while moving, then I'm gonna need some sort of dodge/evade action to counter attack an enemy(Resident Evil 3 had a dodge action for Jill that was based on timing the enemies attack).

I want the same team that did RE4 to make RE5. I want the game to be just as long and cool as RE4. Actually, They could just make RE4 special edition with insane graphics and ridiculous A.I. and I'd be happy. :D

Does anyone know what the RE4 team is up to then? Are they disbanded? At Clover? I care less about whether it's still RE (although I'd love to see an upgraded RE4 tweaked for next-gen), anything with the same level of production value, attention to detail and be so much fun would be good. If a RE4-like games come out with Rev controls though, a faster paced game with running zombies and letting you move and shoot at the same time would definitely be possible, as well as more exciting quicktime events.

I think Re4 got the pacing right and I'd never want to see swarms of stupid zombies coming at me just because it's possible next-gen, the breathers you get with the merchants were necessary. I think maybe more allies in the game might be interesting and add more variation. And more varied and interactive environments and architecture would be cool. Have vehicles. A multiplayer mode would be nice for parties. And oh, I'd like to wear that nice leather jacket for a bit longer in the game.

I hear Mikami isn't involved. Well, that sucks because I believe the boss battles in RE4 were as awesome as they are because of Mikami's magic. With that said, I want better boss battles than RE4 and a game that can top it.

+ More scares, more tension-increasing factors

+ Related to the above, the shadows and flashlight-oriented play of the early version of RE4, during night and inside buildings.

+ More reliable control of melee attacks. The QTE melee was very hard to predict for me and thus made mostly useless - I couldn't count on being able to kick enemies when they got too close to save ammo and buy time.

+ More story mid-game.

Must:
Sublime atmosphere in Silent Hill fashion, not Friday 13 all out hack-slash fashion.

Strategic battles using environment - not just blowing up the barrels, but more with geography/light-shadow/bottlenecking etc. Massacre, I need - but also sense of overwhelmed panic is good.

Combine above 2... and space out each elements, it should be pretty gold.

And yes. some convincing storyline wouldn't be bad.

I want several things to be changed/fixed/\

SHORTER GAME:
Sorry, but RE4 was a few hours too long. Kind of dragged on at the island.

INSTANT WEAPON SWITCHING:
It's more taxing on the hardware, but they did it pretty well in Devil May Cry 3.

60 FPS:
C'mon, just...c'mon.

ONLINE 4 PLAYER CO-OP:
They did it with REO and REO2, and with RE:DS, they should have it for RE5.

ZOMBIES AND UMBRELLA:
Look, this is Resident Evil. This is zombies, and this is Umbrella. You can innovate the gameplay as much as you want, but when the biggest thing concerning Resident Evil is just wrapped in mere seconds in the RE4 prologue...that's just bullshit. If you don't want Umbrella or zombies in it, fine--but don't call it Resident Evil. That's like making a Devil May Cry game with no Dante or demons.

MORE SCARES:
RE4 didn't have any type of scare. No "atmospherical" scare, and and only a few jump-out scares. Maybe RE4 was too actiony, the more action you have the less fear a game contains (generlization, there may be a few exceptions to this rule). Need more tight corriders, smaller spaces, more claustrophobic environments.

You can buy bullets, sorta. Have your gun run out of bullets, then buy the weapon capacity upgrade. Free bullets!

I want a nice mixture of the older REs and RE4, a dodge button into the RE4 style and a good story tied in with RE4.

- To be more scary definetely
- To keep the RE4 gameplay, no old RE gameplay please...
- Amazing atmosphere
- Some gameplay tweaks like the ability to switch weapons on the fly
- Some RE cameos. Leon would be cool.

I dunno what else. RE4 was near perfection IMO.

Keep the brilliance of RE4's gameplay but bring back the scares because RE4 was about as scary as sunday lunch.
