What does Final Fantasy XV need to be considered a success?

Drakengard 3 (Drag-on Dragoon 3). Everybody seems to be overlooking this one, and it actually looks to be a pretty avant-garde/non-cliche title, which is not something we see a lot of from SE recently. From what I can tell, the physical US release is going to be exclusive to Square Enix's online store.
Bloody hell, how have I not heard of this.

The only people who would dress like this are male models, and maybe gigolos.

Nope. I am neither a male model or a gigolo.

Aside from buff dude's leather pants and no undershirt look, I would rock the shit out of any of that gear. It is super swag. There's really nothing male-modelish about the clothing. It's just really nice.

My only problem with XV's character design is they changed Prompto's hair from normal blond to fake-looking yellow and Stella's original design was vastly superior as well.

Can someone explain the "Based Nomura" joke to me? I googled and all I get are pages and pages of "Tokyo-based Nomura Securities Co."

A game worthy being called Final Fantasy (Never mind the last few Final Fantasy games, they weren't worthy, they were a blasphemy).

One of them is wearing half see-through leggings with playing card suits etched into them.

I think its supposed to look like hair dye.

also I do not have a stellla preference really.

It's going to be the same perspective as XII and XIII. We don't know if there will be zones or if it will be seamless.

Anything with a giant Noctis walking on top of a continent has been deemed too stupid.

I can see that, but there are ways around it aside from simply removing it.
Like making the world map not physical (say, an holographic map inside an airship) at least you'd still get the freedom.

and then we find out his real hair is pink and his name is Lightning.

heh

It looks like he dyed his hair blond and he is actually a red head, or what is it called " ginger" I do not know if that is offensive to some people. But that is kind of what he looks like.

Both Noctis and Stella seemed to have gotten less Japanese as time has gone on.

Also more anaemic.

Seriously what franchise do you think you're playing?

Either way it looks terrible.

It's supposed to look fake. Like seeing a Japanese person with glowing yellow dyed hair in real life. It's not natural. Prompto isn't "handsome", has freckles, and looks a little like someone that loves his drugs, on purpose. He might become my favorite JRPG character design by the time this comes out.

It would be nice if someday they just sucked it up and went for a solution like that (or something similar) to the problem rather than just giving up on that old school element.

It needs not to be a trilogy.

Release this and give me XVI 2 years later. So if I think XV is bad, I won't have to wait 6 years to get another one.

(Make some F2P iOS garbage using XV assets to recover the costs. *shrugs*)

I've seen people dressed like this if not even more crazy in NYC. Also the thing about prompto's hair seems a: deliberate and b: possibly even a lighting issue with the render blowing out the yellows/oranges with the specific light used on the mug shot. The gameplay shots are way toned down...either way, he looks good imo.

I hope there will be a few playable female party members (at least 3). Right now the party looks like a sausagefest. I don't want to play a J-Pop boyband.

More varied character design would be a nice start. Even if they all have to be male and human, a cyborg or jester someone else weird would have sufficed. I feel like I'm falling asleep just looking at them.

I appreciate the effort to be more realistic, but realism doesn't have to be boring. People can look outlandish in real life too. At least give one of them a robe or armor or whatever.
Dialogue that isn't vomit-inducing emo shit.
Director: Tetsuya Nomura

Already inevitable.

I didn't notice they were see through. :lol So two pair of pants I wouldn't wear, nothing else looks too out of the ordinary. I wouldn't rock the no undershirt look because of my insecurities. Same thing with see-through pants. If you got it like that, I can't hate too much.

Worthwhile combat, and non-linear design. Also, a story that doesn't blow ass would be nice. And while they're at it, characters that also don't blow ass.

- A battle system that rewards both adaptative improvisation and careful planning. Above all, if this is going to be an ARPG, I hope for it to be more than a button masher, or a "5457 different spells, but you will only be using a couple of them" type of affair.

- Good characterization. That is, keep Toriyama away from it. In fact, keep him away from the franchise and videogames altogether. I know that you're going to have a couple of tropes going, but you can always give these a twist or two.

- To hell with dungeon exploration and people wanting one bajillion km of barren wasteland to farm critters. I want human exploration. I want to be able to meet new characters, talk with them, fool around and play with them, and of course, make my decisions and conversations weight into their fictional lives. I want my breathing HD cities, gawddamn it.

Well, one thing's for sure: the Post Mortem and Ultimania books for XV will be glorious. So looking forward to them :)

I kinda like the new design for Prompto. In regards to Stella though, we... really didn't see her at all besides in picture form and her running away with Noctis at the beginning. I'd save your judgement until you actually see her in a movie or in game.

You can see some tiny images of the world map in this scan when it was still Versus XIII. Of course that was 2008 and things may have changed since then...................

And around the same time Nomura said they played around with that and he wasn't happy with the result.
I could've sworn Nomura said (this is going back 2 maybe 3 years) that the game will have an open world.

Open world != world map

Characters that aspire to be more than a bunch of Jar Jar Binks, or Anikan "a barrel roll is a good trick" skywalker.

No children, and just to be sure make all the characters above the age of 25.

A plot that doesn't consist of saving the world.

An open non-linear world.

A male character that isn't feminine, or a female character that isn't masculine. It seems most main characters are either male and angsty woe-is-me-I'm-too-depressed-and-self-absorbed-to-realize-this-walking-sex-doll-with-massive-boobs-wants-to-have-my-children, or female and miserable cunts I'm-too-busy-being-tough-and-independent-to-be-resemble-a-real-character-would-rather-kick-your-nuts-than-appear-believable.

Which brings the better point, no angst, no chocobos, create a game outside the Ivalice universe.

Less Jerkoff material and stupid wardrobes

Characters that aren't brain dead and borderline retarded (I'm looking at you Vanille)
Characters that aren't insufferable annoying pussies (I'm looking at you Hope, you make Shinji Ikari look manly and decisive)

Ditch turn-based combat, ditch the aspirations of making a soap opera, or some deep cinematic masterpiece - no one working on the project has the skills to make it so.

Focus on exploration and atmosphere, minimal story telling - let the player piece it together.

In essence make a game for adults, not otaku and simpletons.

This might anger some people but fuck it, let a non Japanese studio control the franchise, the series is in decline and dying because Square is creatively dead and blind to innovation and good game design.

Wow, fuck no....

What does that even mean.
No children, and just to be sure make all the characters above the age of 25.
That is dumb
A plot that doesn't consist of saving the world.
While a reasonable request, they will connect it to world saving, trust me.
An open non-linear world.
Why is that necessary to being good.

Whats wrong with people who might be feminine and masculine, you just sound 4chan levels of upset. And as far as the agnst goes, as a sufferer of anxiety and depression myself, shit isn't really that simple so kinda .. screw you I guess. What you want is better writing.

Which brings the better point, no angst, no chocobos, create a game outside the Ivalice universe.
People get upset and people like Chocobo's

Less Jerkoff material and stupid wardrobes
that tends to be subjective, also have you seen their outfits.

why?

Not everyone wants to be darksouls, please stop with this bullshit.

In essence make a game for adults, not otaku and simpletons.
You show how childish you are with this statement.

What in the world even is this part.

How about this, how about you just stop playing Final Fantasy, and maybe Jrpg's all together.

So you want a completely new and independent game.
