what does "two item minimum" mean when buying tickets to a comedy show?

I want to buy tickets to Hollywood Babble On with Ralph Garmen and Kevin Smith. On the ticket page, it says two item minimum.

What does that mean?

What is a two-item minimum policy?
In order to ensure our ability to bring the best comedians in the country to Bloomington, we ask that you respect our two item minimum policy.

This can include any combination of nearly 100 choices of food or drink items.

A charge equal to the two least expensive items on the menu will be added to your bill if you are unable to find a combination of two items.

this is from another club but it should be the same where you're gonna go watch.

It probably means you can't buy 1 ticket. Comedy shows sometimes are done at clubs where everyone has a little table to sit at, and they can't accomodate solo ticket holders.

My guess.

edit: DOH! Guess it's a food/drink thing.. there's a strip club near here that does that.. "NO COVER!" but they require you buy 2 beverages.. for $10... lol

It means the price is actually higher than listed but includes two items off the menu, typically drinks. It's not false advertising because you in fact get two items and are clearly apprised of the fact you have to buy them.

Probably. This is how most comedy clubs do business. Tickets + two item minimum.

Yep. I wish more places did this. I would gladly have a couple of drinks or food and drinks instead of paying a $8 convenience or facility charge with the ticket.

As stated already, it means each ticket holder has to order two items off the menu during the show. They used to call it a two drink minimum but that violates liquor laws and/or is a major liability concern.

How do they know you've ordered the items?

Also how about they go fuck themselves.

You must not get out to comedy clubs much because almost literally all of them have this.

At least it's not a two drink minimum. That's a guarantee of completely watered-down and over-priced drinks.

Comedy clubs (definitely the Improv chain, where this is being hosted) generally do a two drink minimum (guess food is included in this as well).

A large split of ticket sales go to the hired talent and the two item minimum is there so the club makes money for hosting the talent. Servers go around taking orders - refuse to order anything and they will talk to management and have you booted for not abiding by the rules.

Those shows that are "free! no ticket charge! only need to purchase two drinks!" generally have guys clawing for a chance for stage time.

You must release a jazz album called Two Drink Minimum before the end of the show. It must be on Blue Note.

Not where I'm from.

Haha you must not go to a lot of comedy clubs. Not that they would want you at one.

I go to comedy clubs quite often. Fortunately this isn't a policy I have ever encountered here.

I would not go to a venue where this was the policy.

Seems like highway robbery to me.

You should avoid the comedy scene in NY. (and possibly LA and the Improv chain all together)

Most club's it's either you order the two items or they'll just bill you for two items (and usually the two most expensive things), so just order a couple beers or an order of wings and fries and enjoy the show.

You agree to the terms when you buy the tickets. If you don't like it simply don't spend the money on the tickets.

It's been like this in every single comedy club I've been to in NY. The ones in London weren't like that but the tickets were always more expensive.
