Well, if you hadn't heard, the South, can tend to harbor a bit more negative racially charged attitudes towards Black people...Also...Yes, large segment of black people in the South, but also a large religious (Christian) segment of Black people in the South. They had no problem with Christmas w/regards to their religious beliefs...So who was Kwanzaa ultimately marketed to? Non-religious blacks who didn't want to associate with "white" Christmas...There really wasn't a large of enough market to make it stick.
