What game to buy the person who has everything?

AKingNamedPaul

I am Homie
My cousin's birthday is today. He doesn't have every game, but he has the money to buy any game he wants. He is into PC gaming, but he hasn't been into it for long. He says he's done with WoW, He loves fallout, He has a ps3, He likes rpg's and modern warfare 2, but he's pretty picky sometimes. For instance He loves demons souls but wont give uncharted 2 a try. I let him borrow Batman AA like forever ago and he has barely touched it.

I know you guys couldn't possibly know him based on my terrible description of his tastes but maybe you guys will mention something I have forgotten. He's 22 today so I need to pick something up either from gamestop or maybe any other cool gift ideas you guys can think of.

He just got himself a droid X and is pretty excited about that, any good accessories for that thing? He's also into anime, but there aren't really any places around here that sell cool anime swag.

Probably going to either take him out for sushi or to see resident evil with my gf (the three of us have a blast together,) but he deserves at least one gift.

Well I was going to suggest you buy him some quality bourbon and a box of condoms but then you said he was into anime so now IÂ’m not sure.

Maybe buy him something that ISN'T a videogame.

or Wipeout HD/the best game

or just don't get him anything. I don't buy presents for my friends.

He recently nailed my girlfriends hot as shit sister so don't go pegging him as a recluse just yet.

He hasn't played dragon age, but I have a hard time giving someone a gift that I wouldn't want.

I suggest a GameStop gift card. That way he can choose which game he wants to buy, while you still give him a gaming gift.

You call him picky and then to make a point you talk about two games that have barely anything to do with each other? What the fuck?

If anything buy him the new CoD, Medal of Honor, or just give him a giftcard or money. But if the two of you are pretty close then give something more personal perhaps hand made if you have the ability for it. You can get him something other than games you know.

This isn't about logic, this is about us recommending things we want/are gonna buy/like.

I bet he doesn't have a Vii yet

it's an idea

Yea i didn't craft this thread with a clear head, it's more out of desperation since we'll be picking him up pretty soon and I have no ideas on what gift to get him.

So far gift card has been a pretty good idea.

Buy him one of the games icecream always posts about

That'll show the rich bastard

edit, Oh he's into anime? nvm

I second this. If you can't think of anything, a gift card is always a good gesture.

I was thinking about this too hard. I'm probably going to bring him out to eat/get drunk and get him a gift that I put some thought into at a later date. Probably do some research on what he wanted for his bday that he didn't get and surprise him with that shi.

Gift cards are the lamest fucking present. Do any of you actually like getting them? People who pretend like they are more thoughtful than cash are lying to themselves. They're just as bad.

Cash and gift cards are equally lame.

I love to get cash. I'd much rather receive a present that says "I have no idea what the fuck you want so buy it yourself.", than one that says "I have no idea what the fuck you want so here's some random shit you won't like.". Gift cards aren't bad if you get it for some place you know the people actually shop at. I've had an Old Navy giftcard sitting on my dresser for like three years.

Absolutely not. It's rather insulting. "I couldn't bother to actually think of you so here's some fake money only good at this one place."
I've never been insulted by giftcards. As long as its a place I actually go to, I'm totally fine with it

As long as the gift-giver has put at least a little thought into it, I don't see it as a bad thing. I've had to get enough gifts to realize that sometimes it can be a real pain in the ass to figure out what someone wants. You're still giving him money at a place that he's definitely going to go to, how the fuck is that an insult?

The only way I'd be insulted is if I was given a $20 giftcard to Lord and Taylor or something.

The fuck dude? Cash is my number 1 favorite gift to receive, because I can go and buy whatever I want with it.

I didn't say cash wasn't useful. I said it was a lame gift.

I'd rather get a gift card than cash. If I get cash, I'll probably end up spending it on something like food or another necessity. If I get a gift card to Best Buy, I am forced to buy something fun.

I would prefer not to get cash as a gift because I know that I'd probably end up banking it or spending it on upcoming birthday gifts. With a gift card, you basically have to get a gift for yourself.

ANYWAY...if you're thinking about getting your cousin a gift and you really want it to be a game, when I heard "not into PC gaming for long" and "likes MW2" maybe you can get him the Orange Box. Sure it's old school but TF2, man. It's not that expensive and would make a nice gift-y accompaniment to being taken out.

Buy him a new graphics card. Or some apps for the Droid (Beautiful Widgets, Launcher Pro etc). Or a Move with Sports Champions. Or surround sound (if he doesn't have one already). Or a microSD card to watch all that anime on the Droid.
