What happened to Left 4 Dead 3?

For what it's worth, Turtle Rock, the original creator of L4D is actually working on a spiritual successor called Back4Blood. It will probably be a more traditional left 4 dead style experience as opposed to whatever VR thing valve does.

My old housemate does a podcast with a guy from Turtle Rock. I've tried to get the inside scoop but he won't answer :(

Hopefully valve just dumped the project. They fucked up l4d2 pretty badly. L4d1 was made by title rock and it was great. Tight, concise, tense, great level design, you always had just enough of you were careful, and it was a really great game to play online.

Then valve made part 2 and shit on the entire game. You're tripping over guns and ammo constantly, they added in to many gimmick junk items and ammo type that took away the feel the first one had, they added in boring enemies and dumber the game with like the clowns, the level design kind of sucked, and overall the game felt like a 90s Sega arcade game. It also lacked tension and the characters weren't as good.

Just like GTAV single player DLC. Money, lots of money is a huge distraction. Why invest huge amounts in developing something that an indeterminate amount of people will buy when we could do almost nothing and the money will pour in by the whales/suckers from MP transx?

It's been 3 years since this image (and others regarding Source Engine 2) were "leaked".

Did we ever hear anything else about the L4D3 or the engine?
