What happened to Pepsi?

Burger King started carrying the 100+ different flavors. I did enjoy the Diet Vanilla Cherry Coke and Diet Berry Vanilla Coke. That's insane to me. I don't see a lot of Pepsi machines doing that. I'm more of Diet Pepsi person. I don't drink regular soda. I've been buying both when I want to drink a soda. I can do either or.

Anyone remember the New Coke?

I wish I could remember that debacle but I was too young to care or notice.

Yes, but it was one of those things where the adults were bitching, but I was still new enough to soda drinking that I hadn't identified a taste. I was just happy to have a soda all to myself.

Exactly!

But yeah, Pepsi is doing fine. They own Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC etc.

They 'own' Wetherspoons in the UK too - a massive pub chain in the UK (920 chains I believe). No Coke sold in those. And they are really fucking busy, all the time. Every single one of them.

Vodka and Coke Pepsi is a damn popular drink.

You're talking about the Coke Freestyle machines? Those are godly!

It's the only place I can get Cherry Vanilla Coke Zero. :(

It wasn't horrible but it certainly wasn't coke classic....they even pulled this for a while.

In my area, independent restaurants are actually starting to switch to Pepsi. It might just be the local distributor, but apparently they give better rates.

People must be livid lol. I only do the non sugar/HFCS sodas, but Diet Pepsi taste like crap to me.

Coke is the king of advertising. The goddamn king. Pepsi had a lot of edgy ploys in the 80s and 90s to get people to switch from drinking Coke, meanwhile Coke just continues on making sure they constantly have mindshare, that people are always aware of Coke in the back of their mind.

Sure, Pepsi was successful with a few of it's campaigns, but long term, Coke will always win because they play the long game in marketing, and don't go for the gimmicks.

Am I crazy or has the taste of Pepsi changed over the past year or two? I can barely stand it now.

Nothing changed, there are just 3 main varieties of classic and you have to look at the can.

Blue can new logo: High Fructose Corn Syrup
Blue can new logo AND old logo text: beet sugar
Seasonal white throwback can: cane sugar

Beet sugar is my favorite.

Pepsi could never compete with the power of Coke's holidays are coming ad.

Every Christmas they got kicked to the curb as an irrelevance, eventually they just stayed down and knew their place.

In the UK at least, it's Pepsi at KFC. Always have Pepsi Max, aka The Best type of cola in general ever.

For UK flavour:
Pepsi Max > Diet Coke > Coke > Pepsi > Diet Pepsi > Coke Zero

No, he's not. A lot of people can tell the difference. Hell, we had to get law enforcement to settle a fight once on campus over it. Long story short, Pepsi Jazz was in and someone refused to learn what the Jazz was all about.

He didn't say people can't tell the difference. He didn't say they tasted the same. He said the difference between the two isn't that big that one of them is "Revolting" and the other is "godly"

We also have to put up with Maine Root (way too sweet IMO) in some of the trendier places. Though surprisingly enough, a couple of restaurants actually have RC Cola. I always have to get it just for the novelty.

Don't think I've ever witnessed someone getting Diet Pepsi :lol

Holy crap, no. I can tell pepsi from coke and diet coke/pepsi from their regular versions.

Its easy to tell diet from regular because artificial sweetners and HFC/cane suger have different levels of sweetness.

I will admit that Mexican Coke (regular coke made with cane sugar) and regular Pepsi (HFC) taste different because HFC has a more sickly sweet taste than cane sugar.

But give me Pepsi and Coke both made with either cane sugar or HFC and they taste the same.

What about bottles?

They taste the same. As do most off brands.

Not to me, they are different. I am a Pepsi drinker but don't hate Coke but the taste is distinctive. I also keep an eye on the "best by" indicator. Old soda is nasty, I have been burned by old garabage sodas in gas stations and the like too many times.

I believe Pepsi owns Taco Bell, KFC and I think A&W along with Long John Silvers... so they do have some places still and that wont change. Taco Bell being the big one of course.

What are you talking about? You can get it in 12-packs and 2-liters here. They also have some variation of Cherry Pepsi that I want to say is throwback also.

Are you sure you are not confusing seasonal throwback with beet sugar Pepsi? Cherry Throwback never happened.

Coke's thugs... I mean salesmen, basically used dirty underhanded tactics to ensure that local restaurants wouldn't buy Pepsi. Kinda like the Taxi industry today.

My tastes are weird.

Bottle Diet Pepsi > Bottle Diet Coke
Bottle Diet Pepsi > Can Diet Coke
Can Diet Coke > Bottle Diet Coke
Regular Coke > Regular Pepsi
Death by Snu Snu > Coke Zero

Yeah they are weird. Diet Coke is trash compared with Coke Zero. I rarely drink real Coke, it's always Coke Zero or Cherry Coke Zero.

I don't drink a lot of soda but in my mind I think Coke Zero tastes amazing and diet coke/pepsi tastes like shit. Am I crazy or is their a real difference?
