What happened to the (Windwaker) Zelda inspired Kickstarter game?

i saw it last year, i think it was also gonna be for the Wii U? had a female character too with windwaker like artstyle.

anyone know what happened to it?

It just rips off the art style and character designs, not the gameplay. They should have not relied on another popular game's artstyle to sell it, but it worked and gave them coverage.

It doesn't rip off anything. People just see the cel shaded artwork and compared it to Wind Waker.

The game doesn't even look much like WW.

A hat in time is still going on. It's visually inspired by Wind Waker but it's more Mario Sunshine-y.
Follow the developers at https://twitter.com/HatInTime and https://twitter.com/MekuCube
edit: and it's still not 100% confirmed for Wii U. The Dev is looking into somethings before they are comfortable confirming a Wii U version (I think it has to do with the UE license or something)

Hmm I really hope they can work out the issue and release it for the Wii U. Not the end of the world if they don't but it would be nice if they do.

It's just cel-shaded, not just Wind Waker that popularised the artstyle.

It's not just the cel-shading though. Plenty of other games use cel shading and look nothing like WW. It's the character proportions, and the style in which faces have been drawn, that really make the similarities.

AHiT looks much more like Wind Waker than it does Jet Set, Auto Modellista or Killer 7.

I was thinking Super Mario Sunshine in terms of levels and Wind Waker in terms of cel-shaded look. Either way, it looks awesome.

Alpha Trailer

That looks really great. The character movement and inertia looks very fun.

It doesn't rip off anything. The Wind Waker does not have exclusive right to its art style, and beyond the visuals this game doesn't even look all that similar.

EDIT - also, I love this shark:

People whining about stylish games that have the same artstyle as other stylish games. Meanwhile no one bats an eye at "realistic"-looking games that look nearly identical.

That alpha trailer looks rather interesting. Got to add this on my list.

I vaguely remember hearing about this before but I forgot all about it.

That's not the same. Mimicking reality isn't taking someone else's idea, which I assume was the posters issue.

Ok, I'll agree to that.

Well, it's definitely inspired but carries it's own style. Though honestly, the footage I've seen looks a bit messy with use of clashing colors and a lack of cohesion. But that's something I'm sure they'll fix and refine as development goes along.

Exactly, this is my issue with it. Also we have to remember all the sites that gave it coverage for looking like Wind Waker and mario sunshine.
