What in the world is going on with xbox live?

If its as bad today as people seem to be implying then Im just gonna go ahead and install the NXE file I downloaded last week.

No one seriously thinks bans will entail do they?

Something strange has happened to me. My NAT settings have changed spontaneously and I can't join any multiplayer matches in Gears 2. It says my firewall settings are too strict. Ok... WTF? I don't even know HOW to change my NAT settings! How could they change like that all of a sudden? I've been playing Live for 3 years no problem and now I can't join any matches whatsoever... what is going on?

There won't be any, and I am seriously considering this myself. I don't have much time to get on in during the weekdays anyway, so, why not? I was going to hold off until tonight, but I might do it any minute now.

Well the update will at least go on the site or something right? Have previous ones been like that?

uk'er here. Gears 2 was playing up last night - couldn't play public Horde matches at all. The other modes seemed to work for a while, then stopped. My private 2 player Horde match cut out after 15 waves or so too.
I don't see this situation improving in the lead up to Christmas..

Nice tag BTW. Last year's problems went on for quite a while and MS had to give away a free game because their service was down for so long.

We kept getting disconnected last night and it really sucked the fun out of the Rock Band party, especially since the 360 needed to be online for the Rock Band songs to work.

So, in summary, fuck Microsoft for requiring an online connection for DRM.

Come on guys, you're acting like we have never had this issue before.

After every major update people have had problems of one sort or the other. Look how bad it was, christmas 2007, all because xbox live had to put up with more traffic.

I don't see how the new Xbox live exerience will be a smooth run thing. Past history tells us that MS will not have a backup plan in place when (IF) it does all go to shit!

Hope I get proved wrong, come on MS, prove me wrong, I DARE YA!.

I'd love to have them prove you wrong, but it's already crumbling.

Yeah, and what a game it was...

Edit: but I don't think it went on for several weeks/a whole month. It wasn't more than 2 weeks, probably only one when it comes to the really really REALLY bad issues.

I'd love to have them prove you wrong, but it's already crumbling.
It's the beginning of the end. Worst part of it all is that we'll get a shitty freebie game for it. Like Yaris 2 or something...

I haven't tried logging on the 360 yet, but on xbox.com every one of my friends shows as offline, as in how you do it when you set your status to Offline to hide from people. So everyone shows as Offline with no last played/on date. Also several people's avatars show as ?, and I know none of these people are on NXE. Yeah, not a good sign -_-.

This is crap, Live isn't working for me. The tests page shows everything up until Live works. I even DMZed the 360's IP. Dammit.

I'm in the NXE preview and I haven't had much of any problems today. There was one bit where the guide was slow picking up friends. I played a few hours of Fallout 3 without any disconnections.

I got disconnected from TF2, but that's just shitty netcode on the 360 version of that game and it happens all the time anyway.

Maybe old dashboard servers are getting shut down early and converted over to NXE use? I dunno. They did have a good October and Gears/CoD5 is probably weighing hard on the servers.

It could be that NXE and the old dashboard communication may be causing issues since they did claim NXE is rebuilt from the groundup.

Yup it's most likely to do with NXE. There wouldn't have been such a massive surge in users it caused the servers to crash this early before Christmas.

I've been getting tons of problems with Live in the past week, mainly disconnects, slowdown and NAT issues that don't exist. The NXE launch is going to be pretty disastrous, going by the track record they've set.

The NXE launch is going to be a mix bag for people. Mainly because usually with major patches some people 360's break, some it take forever to update, and some people will update fine with no problems. Not to mention we are already having Xbox live problems now :( Most of my issues have stopped but now I'm getting random errors from COD:WaW :(

EDIT: http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/11/14/having-xbox-live-connection-issues.aspx

Post from MajorNelson was saying that the issues have been resolved but a lot of people are still have major problems. Like not even being able to connect or sign in to xbox live.

Yep... still can't connect at all. No disconnects... just nothing at all. This has been over 24 hours. I'm getting so pissed. Why can't they just acknowledge it? I wanna play Gears 2 dammit.

Would it make any difference if I acknowledged it? Believe me, something more formal would be nice to help chase this call volume away but hey, it's Sunday morning.

Had to reboot my entire network to connect to Live. WTF is going on? Also getting the firewall settings warning as well.
