As stupid and ridiculous as the Thor The Dark World meme is, I don't think the $30 Italian meal is all that funny to be brought up in less funny references to it, so that's my vote. TDW has transcended into losing all meaning so now it's just a thing.

My real vote would be for Americans clap after eating.

The difference is that $30 italian meal was funny before it was a meme, and was funny initially as a meme.

Thor 2 never was.

Some of the meme's mentioned here kind of spilled onto GAF from the internet at large. GAF is basically my filter for most of the internet, since I don't really visit any other message boards etc.

Even the origins of the "I'm an expert" meme are disputed right?

I think what people are trying to say when someone posts that picture is that fast food restaurants have no depths to which they will not sink to produce the most calorie-loaded, deep-fried monstrosity that is guaranteed to cause an early demise. The picture says that without posting the words.
 
The worst one is that JRPG guy's face who's laughing and goes serious. I hate it and scroll by it as fast as possible every time. I try to get it gone before it loops a full cycle.

i don't think that it's funny at all actually, i just like how it makes pretty much every poll we have mean absolutely nothing.

Someone posted that they found a cat, and someone's response was "Feed it pizza."

From then it that became the appropriate prescribed response for finding or getting a cat, or even if you just have a question about your cat.

Once again, do a search for polled threads. Most of them are just the mods having fun and have no actual value to gauge forum opinion.

Thanks I see. Most of the time in cat threads I spend more time looking at the pictures to notice/be annoyed by those posts but now that pro'lly explains the mentions of pizza...

Hmm I don't really know on this one... maybe I'm just a sucker but I'm kind of indifferent about memes in general, it's mostly the delivery/relevance that gives 'em any credit in my eyes. Though in terms of pure overkill, (although part of the meme at this point is the overkill [very meta!!]), Thor 2 pro'lly takes it. :P

Actually, there was a thread a long time ago where a guy posted claiming that he accidentally closed his door on his cat, injuring it. Instead of taking it to the vet, he asked GAF if the cat was okay. He said that he thought it was recovering because he fed it some pizza. The cat unfortunately died by the next day, if I remember correctly. The pizza thing stemmed from that, like "Your cat is squirting blood from its eyes?! Feed it some pizza!"

The reason I don't like the Kale Breckin one is that one of these days, when that kid gets old enough, they'll probably search their name, and since it is so stupid/dumb the few results will be to this forum where they will read about how their parent was totally lacking a backbone and incapable of standing up to their spouse, and could not prevent their child from having such a terrible name. Assuming it is real, at least.
 
I would like to know what percentage of "Friday night" threads are people just making things up. The stories I read on this forum are just insane.

Maybe in context of someone sharing that pic, GAF thought it was hilarious that the guy was bragging, but you can cram the best pasta in the world into a plastic to-go container with a brown paper bag, it's going to look like crap. It's definitely not funny enough to be brought up in every food related thread.

I didn't think Thor 2 was ever funny, but 4 years later with Marvel churning out multiple hits a year and countless threads of people unironically beating a dead (T)horse, it's not even the joke that it originally started as. Now it's nothing more than a meme joke poll option that has even seeped into Gaming polls that people feel they have to vote on to be in on the joke or something. I'm pretty sure the first several times it was included as a poll option was completely seriously. I think the only people who actually think it's funny at this point is the mods who just want to ruin any chances for an actual poll, but at least at this point it's no longer the only option people vote for.

I guess you are right. I don't make many threads, so I didn't realize.

Still, IIRC, some of the first threads I remember seeing it pop up in as an option were like DC vs Marvel, what is the worst comic book movie, etc. type threads where Thor 2 was included as a real option because it was a hot topic actually being hotly debated in those threads. It's overwhelming popularity only lead to it being included in any comic movie poll, then to any media/TV/movie thread, then to practically anything with a poll.
 
People seem to be misunderstanding the origins of the Thor 2 meme. It didn't come into existence just because of it's mediocrity, but because in the fallout of the horrible disaster that was Batman v. Superman DCEU-GAF kept bringing up both Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 unsolicited in any discussion of BvS's quality. trying to say "well BvS at least has to be better than these films, right?" (it isn't, BTW), leading to pretty much every BvS thread getting derailed by the discussion of those films for at least a few pages. Iron Man 3 actually had merits and flaws worth discussing, but Thor 2 was...well...Thor 2, so it's constant presence in these thread became hilarious enough that the mods started including it in polls added to CBM thread such as this and this before it just spiraled out of control and became an option in pretty much every poll on the site.
